Everyone goes on and on about Luke. Seeing that hyperspace attack again… still makes my eye twitch. It’s even more devastating than I remembered it! She practically took a fleet out.

Ahem… anyway not to get back into THAT debate.

I don’t know why I’m weirdly optimistic about Solo. I just want a decent story. I think (hope) they can manage that. Director changes don’t bother me.

Indeed. The only thing that worries me a wee bit about ‘Solo’ is the timeline and lack of marketing. We already got a teaser in mid-November for something like ‘The Incredibles II’ that comes out in June. We need to get something soon if Lucasfilm are sticking to the May release date and marketing the heck out of the film.

I suppose they wouldn’t release a trailer up til like now as they won’t want to take any potential hype away from episode 8- and possibly confuse casual viewers as to which movie is out now. Maybe we’ll see something soon as marketing for TLJ has pretty much wound down.

That is what Ron Howard hints at with his recent posts on Twitter.

There is a lot to look forward to:
      1. Cant kill off Han Solo in a cheap and meaningless way
      2. No new force powers that are borderline absurd
      3. Cant confuse lightsabers this time

That hyperspace attack could have been worse, Imagine someone named Ackbar on a suicide bombing run

Also just rewatched that scene and also am wondering WHO THE FK HAS APPROVED THAT.
Speaking as Mushu he/she brought shame on him/her, shame on his/her family.
It worked while the Radus was faaaar away from Snokes SSD and also took a lot of the nearby stardestroyers, maybe not just totally nearby but almost the half of the fleet.
First one who will find a scene where something is entering hyperspace in front of some other object and manages to fly normally into hyperspace, please report to me which scene.

I just wish we could see the FO with a competent admiral who makes good decisions in combat. They’ve got a snivelling weasel and a hot-head in charge. It’s a shame that Hux isn’t more of a Tarkin as it would make the adversarial scenes between the two leaders a bit more compelling.

That concept art really isn’t new, not to me anyway, since I remember seeing it right around the time it was announced Ron Howard would be directing. It’s not an AT-AT (thank God) but some type of troop landing craft.

Only that last photo in the set (10of10) is an AT-AT (very similar), viewing angle from below.

Indeed. The insight from random Reddit users as quoted in the article is sure to crush their dreams.

I have such wonderful expectations for this movie that I am actually beating off right now.

And don’t you dare say anything critical about it, because even though, like you, I haven’t seen it yet, I still get to tell you that you can’t criticize it. For some reason. Not sure why.

This smells of The Dark Tower movie. No trailer until super close to release, and the movie sucked and no surprise bombed.

Didn’t Ron Howard make that too ?

One of the three listed producers. I have faith in Howard, he’s a talented director.

I think he was only a producer because he was developing the movie franchise at an earlier time before they dropped it and started with someone else.

I personally believe – and this is something that Ron Howard indicated was on the right track – that they chose not to start the ad campaign for Solo until after The Last Jedi was released, simply because it’s in their interest to advertise only one movie at a time.

People point to Marvel as a way of how Disney has previously gotten around this, but that’s not a fair comparison. They don’t release two movies in the same sub-franchise in the same year.

Speaking of Marvel, my guess is that the first trailer hits with Black Panther and the last trailer hits with Avengers: Infinity War.

I thought that was understood by everyone? Same reason not to attach the trailer to TLJ – don’t muddy the waters, focus on one movie at a time. Disagree with you about where it will surface though – betting at the LATEST it’ll air during Superbowl, a week or so before BP bows, though I wouldn’t be surprised if it drops this month either.

Of course it won’t deliver. It’ll drop it’s cargo at the first sign of an Imperial cruiser.
