SWCO 2017 Hasbro Panel: Last Year’s Fan Favorite and The Resurrection of the Vintage Collection

Hasbro always comes to Celebration with some good stuff and 2017 was no different.  The toy maker’s panel yesterday in Orlando revealed some new images and a couple of big announcements.  First to the announcements.

As we posted yesterday, Hasbro’s fan favorite poll is back, and by the number of comments added to that article in less than 12 hours I’d say our readers are excited about it.  But that wasn’t all the news around the fan favorite voting this year.  The big news out of Hasbro’s panel was the return of the Vintage Collection.  Check out the release from Hasbro below…

We’re also thrilled to introduce THE VINTAGE COLLECTION Line – a new 3.75-inch highly articulated line of figures in Spring 2018; available at most major retailers and on HasbroToyShop.com. Fans will help kick off this launch by voting on a figure for the new line in the 2017 Fan Figure Vote.

So, that’s right, your fan favorite vote won’t just be a standard black series figure addition this year.  It will be added to the popular Vintage Collection line.  SO head over to the fan favorite comments section to cast your vote.  Votes in this post will not count so make sure you head here to cast your vote.

Outside of the big news, Hasbro showed off some of its new figures, including last year’s Fan Favorite winner Jaina solo as well as some exclusive Comic-Con releases and some figures that will be hitting stores later this year.  Check out the images and details below.

I wish they had made Thrawn look more like his canon material (with the ridges of his brows and bluey hair).
I know this like his legends apperance but I really like the slight alien qauilty to the canon design instead of just “blue human”.

If it were not more EU likeness and more Rebels, I would not buy it.

Everything awesome, except… Hasbro must stop making “small non acurate scaled” vehicles, I think is a waste of effort, and plastic, and money, if they are making a vehicle why not to make it in the accurate scale, Im talking about Luke’s sandspeeder, (and other ships and vehicles they made before). hasbro knows that a big part of people buying this are diehard collectors and most of them will prefer an accurate scaled one.

Agreed. We’d likely even gladly pay extra for the correct size. If they’re smart (and want to make even more profit) they’ll correct this before the release. It’s a pretty noticeable issue in the promo photos.

None of these really grab my eye…usually there’s one or two in every line that I feel compelled to snag. That said, the Rey speeder looks beautiful, and to scale…any new photos of that? Haven’t been able to find much online but already making room on my shelf!

I still think it’s really weird that Jaina Solo won the fan choice. I read every book she was in, but she’s not a canon character. We should respect the decisions made going forward by the story group – they know what they’re doing. IMO this is a result of what we call tyranny of the majority. That said, the Rey speeder looks beautiful, and to scale…would love to see more shots of it. Shall definitely be snagging that one, as she’s actually a canon character with legit appearances in the films. Move over, Jaina…you were and always shall simply be for my 13 year old literary imagination, curled up with a book in my bunk bed back home.

So, Tarkin and Thrawn! I can’t wait not to buy this figure as Hasbro screws us over on numbers, like Revan, Ashoka, Kanan, Sabine and others.

Agreed. If you think you’ll EVER find Tarkin and Thrawn at retail you are NUTS. Pretty pictures tho!

I would have liked Eliza Dushku as Jaina back when she was young and a better actress had they made an EU film.

Does Thrawn come with Ezra’s lightsaber?

nice stuff…just wish you could actually find them. Still hope that Jaina makes it into canon. I don’t know how, but she needs to be there!
