‘Skeleton Crew’ Would Be Targeting Fall Release, Actor Dane DiLiegro Guesses

It was a year and a half ago that we reported on this site a quote from Prey actor Dane DiLiegro, where he said that he was filming a top-secret project for Lucasfilm. The mystery of which project he was a part of has now been resolved, as it turns out he will be in the upcoming Skeleton Crew series.

Moreover, while on the red carpet for Blumhouse’s upcoming Imaginary, he was asked by The Direct about the series, and more specifically, when it might come out. He responded:

“I’m hoping by the fall. If I were to guess… That’s completely surmising. There’s no information behind that. I know that Lucasfilm likes to release things around November-ish. So I’m hoping by then. I’ve been meaning to reach out to our director, David Lowery. He’s a friend of mine. But yeah, I don’t know. We’ll see. Maybe November. I know Lucasfilm is due for something pretty cool. And I think Skeleton Crew might be that thing.”

As always, every time an actor publicly discusses the release date of an upcoming show, we must stress that this is not to be taken too seriously. Remember when Rosario Dawson said Ahsoka would come out in the fall? However, this is pretty much the first time someone involved with the show says anything publicly about when it might come out, so it’s at least worth mentioning. And he’s not wrong about Lucasfilm liking that late-in-the-year window, which is when the first two seasons of The Mandalorian came out.

There’s also the family aspect to consider. Skeleton Crew has been described as a four-quadrant show that the youngest in the family will enjoy the most, so leaving it for the weeks around Thanksgiving makes sense from that point of view. We’ve been guessing as much here for a while, especially since we know The Acolyte is coming out in the summer.

Details on his role in the show are being kept under wraps, but DiLiegro did give us a little tease as to what to expect. He told The Direct that it’s a minor role, which makes sense since he also teased that he only worked with David Lowery as a director:

“It’s fun. It’s not anything long or substantial… But it’s just a fun thing. And you know, it’s a really cool sequence.”

Stay tuned for more news on Skeleton Crew, hopefully coming soon.
