Podathon Returns May 4 for Fourth Annual Fundraiser In Collaboration With Make-A-Wish, Guests Announced

With May the Fourth on the horizon, Star Wars creators are joining forces once again to raise funds for Make-A-Wish, in the fourth annual edition of Podathon.

The event, hosted online at ThePodathon.com, will start at 9am EST and continue until late evening on May 4, 2024. Throughout the day, viewers can tune in to enjoy content from a dozen of the most popular Star Wars fan creators while having the opportunity to contribute directly through the “Podathon Make-A-Wish” online platform. Every donation received will directly benefit the foundation.

In addition, every $10 donated directly to Make-A-Wish will get the donor an entry to win great prizes from Regal Robot, Denuo Novo, 2797 Studios, Insight Editions, Chronicle Books, Lucasfilm, and more, plus autographs from actors like Vanessa Marshall (Hera Syndulla on Rebels). Since its inception in 2020, Podathon has raised over $27,000 for Make-A-Wish.

Celebrity guests confirmed so far include Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian), Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (The Mandalorian, The Last Airbender, Kim’s Convenience), Pablo Hidalgo and Matt Martin (Lucasfilm Story Group), LeAndre Thomas (director of Star Wars: Visions‘ “The Pit”), Justin Ridge (Lucasfilm Animation), Michael Siglain (Lucasfilm Publishing), authors Zoraida Córdova, Lydia Kang and Tessa Gratton, and Jordan Hembrough (Our Star Wars Stories). More guests will be announced leading up to the day.

Pete Fletzer, one of the event organizers, expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support from the Star Wars community, stating:

“The Star Wars fan community is made up of some of the most generous and caring people I’ve ever met. The outpouring of support in years past has been so powerful and more than we honestly expected.”

Becca Benjamin, another member of the event team, emphasized the community’s commitment to giving back, saying:

“Our shared love of the Star Wars universe has led us to opportunities to get to know so many amazing people. Giving back to the community in the form of a wonderful charity like Make-A-Wish feels like a natural thing to do.”

More details about the event will be announced in the coming weeks leading up to May 4, 2024.

Miguel Fernández is a Spanish student that has movies as his second passion in life. His favorite movie of all time is The Lord of the Rings, but he is also a huge Star Wars fan. However, fantasy movies are not his only cup of tea, as movies from Scorsese, Fincher, Kubrick or Hitchcock have been an obsession for him since he started to understand the language of filmmaking. He is that guy who will watch a black and white movie, just because it is in black and white.
