‘Prey’ Actor Dane DiLiegro (Predator) Currently Filming for a Lucasfilm Project
In a recent interview with IndieWire, Prey actor Dane DiLiegro, who plays the Predator in the new Hulu film, revealed he is currently working on a project for Lucasfilm. When asked if he shot anything since Prey, DiLiegro replied “Uh, that I’m allowed to talk about?”, following it up with:
“I worked on a Marvel picture that just wrapped a few months ago. And I am currently shooting a Lucasfilm production. They’re not always huge title roles like the Predator, but to be involved in things under those umbrellas is an honor, and gives me a tremendous sense of pride.”
Currently, as far as we know, Lucasfilm is shooting two live-action series, both in Los Angeles — Ahsoka and Skeleton Crew. Rumors also point out to The Acolyte doing some filming in the U.K., in the Volume, at the moment, before moving outdoors later this year, though there is no official confirmation of that yet. This is also interesting for another reason — DiLiegro, former basketball player, is six feet and nine inches tall, which has some people speculating already if we have found our live-action Zeb.
Dave Filoni strongly hinted during Star Wars Celebration that the Ghost crew will be reuniting in live-action in the upcoming Ahsoka series — the minute-long teaser showed Hera Syndulla from behind (a green Twi’lek with orange pants walking alongside Ahsoka Tano is difficult to misidentify), Natasha Liu Bordizzo was officially announced as our live-action Sabine Wren, and even Chopper was brought out on stage. We also know, from Ahsoka’s episode in The Mandalorian season 2, that she is looking for Thrawn, but given the Star Wars: Rebels finale, we know that she is actually looking for Ezra. We still have no idea who is playing the character in live-action, but Ezra appearing in the series is the safest bet you can make in a Star Wars bingo card right now.
But after all of this talk, not many people have brought up Zeb’s name over the past few months. In the epilogue of Rebels, it was revealed that our beloved Lasat took Agent Kallus to the planet Lira San, where the species had now settled in. Since he reunited with his people, it’s possible that Ahsoka features more than one Lasat in at least one scene, so maybe DiLiegro is playing another member of that species or is playing another tall species altogether (a Wookiee, for instance).
However, naïvely judging his three-word quote, it sounds like his role in the series might be more than two or three days’ worth of work, and so far, the only tall character we (sort of) know is going to be in the series is Zeb. The association is not that far-fetched, though we must not get too excited just yet. The actor does say that not every role is a “huge” title role like the Predator, but that doesn’t mean much. Zeb might have a rather small role in the series, at least compared to Ahsoka’s or Sabine’s, and if we took out the baggage that the character brings (and that he may not be familiar with), we might say the same after watching the show.
In other Prey-related news, actor Dakota Beavers expressed interest over the weekend in possibly joining the Star Wars galaxy someday. When asked by Murphy’s Multiverse if he’d like to be on a Marvel or Star Wars movie one day, Beavers said:
“I would be on Cloud 9 to play something like that. Like a Jedi or a Star Wars bounty hunter. I would be all over that.”
For now, this is just an actor expressing his excitement to hopefully make his dreams come true one day, and we shouldn’t read too much into it.
