UPDATE! Mark Hamill Discusses Keeping Star Wars Secret with PC Gamer

HamillA spotted Mark Hamill recently sat down with PC Gamer on the set of the upcoming game Squadron 42, to do a video interview in which he discusses NDA’s, his ability to keep a secret, and getting his second most iconic part, the voice of the Joker.

The interview is very short, but is has some good stuff included.  First up he discussed an unnamed project he is working on that actually monetarily incentivises people under contract for keeping its secrets.  He doesn’t come right out and say its Star Wars, but that level of secrecy and his current project slate would certainly lead someone to that conclusion.

From there, Hamill goes on to discuss the biggest secret he ever had to keep.  The secret that  (Spoiler Alert) Darth Vader was Luke’s father.  Although Mark has recounted that story, he gives some great detail here in what is a very fun albeit brief interview.  Mark also briefly discusses his anxiety over taking on the role of the voice of The Joker which during his Star Wars hiatus became Hamill’s most prominent role.

But the one important note for those looking for new Star Wars news out of this interview, Mark Hamill is still fully bearded.  So, either he is continuing to gear up to film scenes as bearded Luke as we get closer to principal photography for Episode VIII or he has severely softened on his stance on those itchy chin whiskers.

Check out the video below.

UPDATE!

I see that many people are confused by the title photo. This interview with Mark Hamill was taken on the set of the upcoming game Squadron 42. Mark Hamill did a mo cap work for the game. It’s not Star Wars related.

Here’s an actual teaser of Hamill’s character from the game:

Also Hamill in his specific humorous fashion posted this “damage control” tweet:

Yeah, right…

what you aren’t considering is that it wasn’t everyone vs a star ship. It was a galaxy divided, and if anything, the Rebels were outnumbered. Once palpatine/the death star were destroyed, it doesn’t mean allll those evil people and enlisted imperials just went home. There was a power vacuum, and others filled it. there was Imperial Governor Adelhard, possibly others, and then the formation of the First Order.

Again, just because the leader and the super weapon were destroyed, doesn’t mean that the money/evil/empire packed up and went home. I am sure there will be some sort of background on how/what the First Order is, so we don’t really have to speculate much longer 😛

I hadn’t thought of that one. I hope not. I’m not keen on any major character death least of all one off camera.

Okay, good, so I’m not the only one that was surprised by Mark’s mocap gear.
I wonder what he’s doing in mocap… I mean, maybe he’s portraying other characters besides Luke (which has been done in many other cases before). Maybe he’s a Force ghost. Or maybe he really IS Kylo Ren as was speculated. I guess we only have less-than-a-month to find out.

Luke will be the first non-hetero normative character on film in the Star Wars universe. He will also have a double wang.

I find the fact that he still has a beard to be very encouraging.

I hope the big reveal is something that no-one has published on spoiler sites, but I doubt it. Can’t wait to see it though!

      I either want
      a) Rey to have sustained memory loss and find out that she was actually evil in the pass, and killed her own family. Or

      b) Either Kylo or Snoke needs to be a genetic clone of the Emperor.

In Season 1 of Star Wars Rebels, a still-alive Yoda communicated (by voice only) with Kanan and Ezra while they were in a Jedi temple. Maybe a still-alive Luke Skywalker will do the same thing in TFA (possible actually appearing in front of the heroes in a “ghost” form), however he will let people believe that he died and is now a force ghost. Then at the end of the film he will reveal himself as still being alive when he has to save the heroes from certain death.

Very interesting part of an other interview taken by a German with Mark Hamill which was attentionaly made for Star Citizen as well 😀 The other parts of it are also interesting too, they are about Hamills carrer after Star Wars, voice acting the Joker, playing in theater, voice acting again and returning to the film business.

I thought maybe this was to put his head on a younger actor’s body for a duel but I doubt he’ll be using his lightsaber in this one.
