I want them to bring back Ewan McGregor for an Obi-Wan standalone. I thought he was excellent in the prequels! Here’s to hoping for a return for my favorite SW character…

Of all the Star Wars spinoff ideas, an Obi-Wan film makes the most sense to me. Please let it happen. They should do it now before people get tired of ( possibly ) too many lacklustre SW films being cranked out every year.

Star Wars is Golden Goose, best when people anticipate a new movie every once in a while – it makes SW one of the true cinematic events. I fear Disney will be tearing this goose apart with their plans.

I like the idea of exploring his exile on Tatooine during Luke’s formative years. There was a recent novel that did this fairly well. Obi-Wan could perform some undercover action that draws him close to Darth Vader but not close enough – it could explore his sense of regret over what happened with Vader but his hope that Luke would turn out to be who he will in ROTJ.

Yup. They could only make four Bond films with Sean Connery every year before the public had enough. I’m not sure how they are going to do it for 6 years straight with Star Wars and maybe more.

an obi-wan standalone would be awesome. if you’re familiar with the clone wars, obi-wan is involved with a royal figure from mandalore and i’d love to see them not only show us mandalore in a film, but show a different side to obi-wan.

I’m actively avoiding the TV spots with their new footage. I want to go into the cinema and not have the movie play out in my head as a string of scenes from ads, and I come out thinking “Ah, this movie was just okay”.

I want to be surprised and awed, and hope the movie stands its own ground away from the trailers and tv spots.

I’m curious – and I don’t think this will happen, but the thought ran into my head today – I wonder if the Han Solo spin-off may lead to other characters from the original trilogy being recast, and then ultimately leading to a reboot of the first Star Wars film?

Sacrilege I know, and I’d dread that to happen, but I wonder…
