New Character Trademark Registrations from Lucasfilm
This morning news has come out of a couple possible future characters who have been trademarked by Lucasfilm. The website Stitch Kingdom, which was the site originally responsible for reporting the trademark on Captain Phasma, has discovered two new names that have showed up for trademark.
First up is the name Valara. Stitch Kingdom speculates that this could be Valara Saar, a character originally created for the Star Wars role playing game.
From Stitch Kingdom:
Valara (or Valara Saar as she is defined in the Wookieepedia) is an interesting character. Originating in the Star Wars role playing game, she is the descendant of a human Jedi who seeks out to join the Jedi Order and is initially welcomed after proving her usefulness, but ultimately fails to join for reasons unexplored. With the force in her blood, she continued to practice and teach the way of the Jedi upon returning to her home planet of Yashuvhu.
The second name trademarked is Mon Destra. Stitch Kingdom here proposes a connection to a fanfic created Darth Destra, presumably off the idea that Phasma was also a name originally taken from a work of fan fiction as well. Mon Destra could also be a relation to Mon Mothma (assuming the possibility that the de-canonization of legends could lead to a biography for Mon Mothma where she is of a race that uses the family name first in their naming conventions). Mon Destra could also be a planet or species with a similar naming convention to Mon Calamari.
What these names could mean and what they could be used for remains to be seen. These could be for the new films as Stitch Kingdom speculate, or they could be targeted for use in Rebels or a game of some sort. But there is a trademark request out there for them, so expect to see them somewhere in the new canon sometime in the future.
She looks so cool tho
bring dash rendar back! how about these names
dala zim or drex kar
copyright. lol
Can’t all EU is not cannon! When you played Kyle Katarn in Dark Forces (you know Lucas Arts who licensed games from George Lucas back in 1993) all the way to Dark Forces II, there was the possibility in 2002 for Luke Skywalker, as a Jedi Knight and Princess Leia to be killed in one of those games (depending how skilled you were)!
I played the crap out of those games and there was never an option to kill off leia? She was never in any of the dark forces/ Jedi knight games…
I too am confused about Sith Chick Kyle Katarn meets in the arena fight to Dark Forces II’s ability to be on the multiplayer darkside fighting against the Jedi! Maybe it was just from the EA Unleashed where you could choose to be on Sith side and dual Leia in an arena fight! — recall that annoying new chapter Sith woman laughing as she wounded Kyle Katarn that Batman copied for Harley in its video games? I bought and played them on the computer but all my software from Lucas Arts and EA expired as I changed out hard drives.
Yeah I don’t think so ^^
Drunn Gon Jinn
Who’s drunk on gin?
Rebels… by all means… Rebels.
Isn’t “Mon” a title in the rebellion side of the Star Wars universe like General or Captain?
this news is interesting maybe mon mothma has a sister… a twin sister
Mon Mothma who is strongly connected not only with 2nd Death Star, also with the birth of Rebel alliance , the scene with Padome cutting from final cut of ROTS. Her family could be in Rogue One.
Well I like those names better than Phasma and Snoke (but I can live with them).
Phasma and Snoke sounds like a couple of Detectives, maybe for series three of true detective. 😉
PHASMA AND SNOKE… He is a loose cannon, screw-the-rules kind of cop, a drinker, a ladies’ man… she is a by-the-book rookie with a mysterious secret! Every week a new crime by a new mastermind criminal, and more witty banter laced with sexual innuendo! Will they or won’t they?
Like it! You’re hired as chief writer.
Here’s a more representative logo that cuts to the chase.

Will we ever have real names again like Luke, Biggs, Ben… Even Han Solo is two real words. I mean the unearthly names are good too but originally Star Wars had a balance that’s being forgotten.
Do you want real names or real words?
Finn, Rey, Poe?
Finn is not that uncommon of a name…and Poe (although the only one with that first name I can think of at the moment is a Panda) is simple enough. As for Rebels… Ezra…Zeb…Hera…all real names. Plus we still have our Han, Luke, and Leia – so I think the mix between the simple and science fiction sounding names is quite on par.
“Mon Destra could also be a relation to Mon Mothma (assuming the possibility that the de-canonization of legends could lead to a biography for Mon Mothma where she is of a race that uses the family name first in their naming conventions)”
Just pointing out that there doesn’t need to be a different race or anything like that, just simply a different culture. I could be white and yet if born in certain places I might have just a first and last name, born in another place it might be custom to have a middle name, and let’s not forget Spanish naming conventions in which one can easily have two first names and two last names. All could be in racially white countries but simply different cultural conventions.
‘…uses the family name first…’
Without doubt, it means that Mon Mothma is Hungarian.
🙂
The description of Valara use of the force, failing to join the Jedi Order and that pic with the staff would fit with Rey’s character perfectly…just saying…
Rebels again. Paffffft

That’s not new. It’s been shown on the screens during SDCC.
After her father Han dies?(not that I want that)
Didn’t anybody here think G.I. Joe when reading ‘Mon Destra’?? As in Destro?
COOOOBBRAAAAAAAAAA!
I’ll see myself out.
YO JOE!!!!!!
Clean out yer locker! , but yeah of course it popped right in there for me too
“presumably off the idea that Phasma was also a name originally taken from a work of fan fiction as well.”
^^^
This is false. It was reported days ago that Capt. Phasma was named after the Phantasm Ball from the movie Phantasm.
Captain Phasma sure does look eerily similar to this 1985 concept of a “Clone Warrior”

Oh look, April O’Neil is now part of Star Wars. Looks just like her.
Finn Windu. Just putting it out there
Wait… was this character in the EU and now in the official canon????
gives me hope that they may bring others into the canon…
… cough cough Kyle Katarn cough….
What’s the concept art?
is it Rey?
t’would be interesting if Rey was imagined as a race-neutral character.
A rastafari with a stick? Ok. I guess that’s what’s trending right now in the SW universe, and every other previously white univere.
