Pic of the Day: Rian Johnson and the Episode VIII Script on the Cover of Wired Magazine

WiredGeorge Lucas, Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, Rian Johnson, BB-8 and Yoda are all featured on the cover of the June issue of Wired magazine. But the most interesting detail in the photo is beneath Rian Johnson’s left foot. It’s the Episode VIII script. If you zoom in you can see the writing “SW EP VIII”! I think it’s too early for the script to be ready so probably this is just a cool Easter Egg. The article is about The Untold Story of ILM and you can check it out HERE.

What is Michael Bay doing there among people who actually do/did their jobs well?

But Michael Bay is an example of someone who used ILM improperly. Somebody please Photoshop him and Bumblebee out of this picture.

They should photoshop bumble bee pissing on his head actually. It’s a great metaphor for what he did to the franchise

Actually, there are several people who shouldn’t even be in this photograph.

They got time. Rogue One goes into Pinewood this summer to film for 6 months. Then VIII moves in right after for roughly 6 months. So VIII will have roughly 6 months after for post-production, and then release!

Oh, right. I’ve heard so little about Rogue One I almost thought it had been canceled.

No one from ILM in 1976 is on the cover? Even Joe Johnston? Just shitty directors. Only Lucas has the right to be there as he formed the company.

Must be awesome taking credit and spotlight for other’s work.

Ok…elephant in the room…Hulk Vs. Yoda…Iron Man Vs. T-1000…who wins these battles? 🙂

Obviously Yoda is the superior warrior in the mix here and would ride into battle on the back of the velociraptor prior to taking down the Hulk…but given Yoda’s past relationship with Chewy, I’m thinking we’d be more likely to see a Hulk/Yoda team-up than a battle. Yoda riding on the shoulders of the Hulk taking on the world – there’s a thought…

I’m going to go with Iron Man over the T-1000. I’m pretty sure he could invent a weapon that would bring about the demise that the T-1000 met at the end of T2.

    Ok…Nerd moment over.

I think it’s really cool to see Duncan Jones in that circle of people. He’s such a talented young film maker with a bright future ahead of him.

I’m already excited about episode 8. I hope Rian Johnson takes Star Wars to a place of gritty urban decay and treacherous urban sophistication. It was the urban bits that felt most inspired in Looper.
