UPDATE! Behind the Scenes of The Force Awakens – Things You Might Have Missed!

07 Crashed elite TIE

I am sure that many of you still can’t get enough of the exceptional footage, J.J. Abrams and company shared with us, during the Lucasfilm panel at Comic Con. I am sure you’ve already watched the behind the scenes video numerous times, but still read on for some minor details that you might have overlooked…

SPOILERS AHEAD

NOTE: This article will include some of the leaked concept art that was confirmed by the BTS video.

It’s really remarkable to see that most of the things that were revealed, actually leaked in the past, one way or another.

01. Very recently we exclusively showed you that Admiral Ackbar and Nien Nunb will appear in The Force Awakens (HERE). And here comes the official confirmation:

55 Nien Nunb

54 Admiral Ackbar

And while this was pretty obvious, another quick shot from the video confirmed another story we recently shared with you. As you probably remember we revealed that actor Ken Leung is playing a Resistance general in the movie (HERE). Take a look at the next screen capture:

44 B Ken Leung

The person in the foreground is Ken Leung’s character we told you about. We had a much clearer look at the character, but we can confirm that this is him – the same uniform, the same belt and the same hair cut and color. And as you can see, he indeed appears to be of high rank since he is talking with Leia (next to him).

And this image is another confirmation that C-3PO’s left hand is red in the movie.

02. Who is Maz Kanata? Well we know that Lupita Nyong’o is playing Maz Kanata and that she was doing a motion capture for the character. Recently two concept arts with the character leaked, and while they both looked similar, the BTS video showed that these are 2 separate characters.

Concept Art

One of the concepts is a perfect match with this creature shown in the BTS video:

32 Creature

This is obviously not Maz Kanata since it’s a puppet with an actor inside.

Before we proceed I suggest you first read THIS info from one of our sources from 5 months ago. According to him Lupita filmed her scenes on her knees with CGI markers on her face. Also Lupita’s scenes were filmed twice, once with Lupita and once with a “little person”. That little person was probably operating the animatronic puppet shown below (that also perfectly matches with the second concept art):

12 Maz Kanata

Notice the software being used, it’s called FaceShift. It’s used to do a very basic mocap using a stereo camera (seen above the computer screen). The mocap data can then be remapped in realtime on any type of different character. This data is then used to control the animatronic. (via Cantina member Altgr0160).

Keep in mind that this technology is different from the actual mo-cap equipment that Lupita was wearing:

Lupita

The creature from the second image also matches with one of the early leaked concept arts:

Daisy-Ridley-Boyega-Saber-615x353

Of course there is always a chance that they decided to use another concept for Maz, like they did with Kylo Ren (further below). But this was the initial plan of how Maz will look. And really although just partial, the second teaser still has the best look at Kanata, and she doesn’t look like either of the two creatures from above:

Maz Kanata

By the way during the LFL panel J.J. Abrams revealed that they didn’t write the roles of Finn and Rey to be any color, meaning that both characters are most likely not related to any of the old characters, since race was irrelevant. The concept above supports that, showing Finn as a white guy. Still I wouldn’t read too much into this. While this could have been the initial approach, things could have changed during the writing process.

03. After numerous reports on whether Simon Pegg will appear in The Force Awakens or not, finally comes the confirmation that he is in the movie:

37 Simon Pegg creature

You probably remember THIS report from 2014 when one of our sources told us that Simon Pegg will play an alien in the movie and will get his hand ripped off in a Cantina sequence.

04. Some cool creature concepts from the video:

40 Wolf character

The first concept in the top left corner reminds us to the Wolf characters the same source told us about HERE. And is that a Bossk art in the far left?

And even more cool designs:

28 B Pit CU

Is the one to the right a new version of the Pit Droid?

05. In one of the desert shots, you can see Rey with BB-8 (operated by the guy in green) and something that looks like a big dog droid:

Dog droid

The same droid can be seen on the cover of the upcoming “Look and Find” Star Wars book:

Robot Dog 02

It looks like a funny character that Rey and BB-8 are probably playing with?

06. Interesting progression of Rey’s position in the Millennium Falcon.

First she is in the co-pilot seat:

62 Ridley co-pilot

Then she flies the Falcon:

48 Rey Piloting the Falcon with some crazy moves

Obviously it was Rey who did those crazy moves from the first teaser. Also notice the IMAX cameras on the rig. This is definitely the one IMAX sequence they recorded.

And finally Rey is in the pilot’s seat with Chewbacca as the co-pilot:

29 Chewbacca & Ridley

And no Han…

07. Kylo Ren and the Stormtroopers land on Jakku:

25 Kylo Ren enters

Poe Dameron is there too with his X-Wing:

24 Oscar Isaac and X-Wing

Poe Dameron is captured. He looks tortured. This could explain the bruises he had in the first teaser trailer.

14 Poe Dameron on SD

Also notice the jacket he is wearing. It’s the same one that later Finn acquires:

Screenshot_15

I would suggest you read THIS story from January for a better understanding of the whole situation.

08. You can see the exact same images that leaked last year behind TFA Production Designer Rick Carter:

35 Rick Carter and art

Now we are not saying that Rick leaked those, but it was probably someone with access to this room. 🙂

09. These guys look cool:

46 Running creatures

Their look highly resembles this unused Kylo Ren art:

tumblr_nn41vbV7f51qa4gi0o1_1280

And they look to be involved with this sequence:

video

Could these be the martial art guys from Indonesia?

10. And last but not least, here’s an exclusive first look at the R2-KT, pink Astromech droid. 🙂

30 B Pink R2-D2

UPDATE!

There are lots of other bits that I left out from the report thinking they are pretty obvious. But due to the many requests, I will post them too in this update, risking to make this report too long and boring. 🙂

11. All the following shots were taken in Greenham Common. It’s where the Resistance base is:

57 Oscar Isaac rocky

56 B Leia rocky

52 C-3PO in CC

04 R2-D2 Rock compound

13 Mark Hamill in rocky compound

As you can see the walls completely match with the hangars seen in Greenham Common:

SpanishLeak5

The BG behind Mark Hamill looks similar like in the other shots. It would be curious if Hamill was present during the Greenham Common shoot.

12. The Stormtroopers in the following shots are chasing some of the creatures from Maz Kanata’s Pirate Cove:

49 ST chasing

49 C Lizard creature

49 B Lizard creature

You can see the Puzzlewood forest in the back, where the scene was shot.

13. Bobbajo operator. (the creature from the Force for Change video)

36 Bobba Joe

14. The Carousel blueprint aka The Millennium Falcon.

42 Carousel

15. From concept…

07 Crashed elite TIE

…through miniature…

08 Miniature model

…to an actual prop!

09 Actual prop

16. Some AT-AT feet in the back:

AT-AT

Confirming Rey’s hideout, seen in the leaked concept art:

AT-AT

17. We have a reason to believe that this is actor Kiran Shah inside that costume:

Kiran Shah

And we can’t just move on without posting the following magical images in hi-res. 🙂

Mark Hamill

Leia

Han Solo

J.J. & Larry

Thank YOU J.J!

YEah I seriously doubt wrinkly headed long-neck is Kanata… doesnt have the proportions, or facial features, or what we see of her in the trailer.

          It’s not. Probably her stand-in.

The girl sitting in Han’s seat looks similar to Daisy, white girl, brown hair, but I do not believe it’s Daisy. I’m just going by the face. Her face does not look the same to me at all. I realize that she is looking down, but her facial proportions don’t match Daisy’s.

I would agree that she is P.A. Of done kind, maybe Peters’ assistant. With the condition of his knees I’m sure someone is assigned to get him water, coffee, etc. so that he doesn’t have to move around between takes.

It’s what’s called a ‘stand-in double’. Every major actor has one. This person is usually in the same garb, hairstyle and usded essentially to calibrate lighting to free up the main actor for that period.

          • July 14, 2015 at 12:55 am
            Permalink

Stand-Ins and Doubles are similar, but different.

A Stand-In will “stand in” for an actor for lighting and composing a shot, but steps away for photography.

An actor’s Double, however, appears during photography, This could be say, a stunt double, for high risk shots, or just a photographic double for distance shots.

Occasionally, stand-ins may be used as background players. Watch for extras that look a little like the lead actors. Odds are they are the actors’ stand ins getting some extra work (pun intended).

Exactly. Peter is all dressed up, ready to go, put his Chewie mask on and ACTION! If this is Ridley, then it’s between takes, two actors discussing some scene. Rehearsing Peter’s lines 😉

Easy answer for why Daisy is in makeup and she’s in the pilot seat; its from the end of the film where she’s had a wardrobe change before going off to find Luke with Chewie (like Luke at the end of ANH wears a different outfit for the final scene). The fact that she’s in the pilot seat tracks with info that Rey inherits the Falcon from Han after he dies.

I’m struggling with Jason Ward being 100 percent right, and the chance that he may be right about some things and Disney knows it so they’re purposefully making it look like he’s right from the footage we’ve seen

The thing is if Ward is right, Lucas Film, whatever it decides to show, Ward may have already leaked the info. The only thing ‘new’ maybe scenes we are wishing about but unfortunately may not exist.

Even though JJ loves his mysterybox. I cant but shake the feeling that MSW is about 85 percent right in their leaks and the main reason why we are not shown as much footage or given more information about basic plot is due to this. I guess its good in that they are not giving much away as we need to have something fresh to see come December.

So true. I hope its a smokescreen deliberately put out by disney/lucasfilm to keep the real story a complete mystery until it hits the screen this christmas. As much as i,like the majority of star wars fans,am looking forward to were the saga goes next, there is some trepidation that this will be one great big mess. It seems to be the norm of the big blockbusters these days, all pomp but no substance.

Hmm, something I fear too… For all the flak Lucas has copped for the prequels, he was FILLING IN a back story (something very detailed already in book/game/comic format), the fact that the prequels as stand alone movies pretty much sucked is really irrelevant to the story telling… Now that Disney have abandoned the Expanded Universe they are placing a 4 billion dollar gamble that they can tell a better story than George…

the MSW guy is not great at handling criticism, which makes the stuff he posts seem more like an agenda than anything. but if he’s right, this will be the biggest disappointment any franchise has ever dealt a fandom. how anyone can think the ‘plotleak’ they put on their website is anything but terrible is completely mystifying. you’d think people would be less and less enthused by now. it’s not a story worth waiting 2 years for, let alone 32.

        Why?

        • July 13, 2015 at 2:30 am
          Permalink

Cause the leaked plot sounds terrible? SPOILER: It’s just some ANH-lite mucking around, a hugely popular character dies at the hands of a character no one cares about yet, and then there is no resolution to it or any kind of bright side, everything insinuated at the end of ROTJ actually didn’t come to pass, especially the bond between the main characters seems broken; jedi keep getting “massacred” just for existing, the same baddies are still around; floating lightsabers start off the ‘action’; the same-looking ships, planets (more sand), weird creatures as always; there are hardly any twists and turns (let’s hope some comedy in the script makes up for that); it seems that they are implying the female character is a Solo, but what she does makes no sense as a daughter of a political figure; there is another “badass” full of himself pilot character…

? Are you saying he should watch a bad Star Wars movie to lower his expectations? He is exaggerating but he makes some decent points. Why has nothing from Rotj happened? If rumors are to be believed there is no new republic, no Jedi, no Han/leia wedding, and possibly even no skywalkers until the last scene. I am pumped for this movie but I’m getting nervous…

While I mostly agree (though am still staying optimistic), we know from the description of the Aftermath novel that there IS a New Republic, or at least there was one right after RotJ, though maybe not anymore by the time of TFA. And I’d actually be more disappointed if Rey ISN’T a Solo, than if she is. Other than that, yeah, I mostly agree.

Guys, this is called Star Wars not Star Peace. The whole idea behind any of the films is to pick up the action during war time not peace time. There wouldn’t really be an interesting story about peace and happiness. Who cares about 20 years of relative peace and a happy ending wedding. Not much of a movie in that.

The bond between the characters is part of what made the OT what it is. The idea that after RotJ it all went to hell is not something everyone sees as a good direction. It’s not that they need to see rainbows and sunshine but is important, for some, that the big 3 still have that. Which is difficult to see if the rumors are true..

IIRC the New Republic is already confirmed canon, at for least shortly after ROTJ (not yet clear if it’s still around by the time of TFA, though). Also, remember the thing a few months ago where Carrie Fisher was heavily implying that Leia was/is canonically married to Han now?

Wondering if we do know that much. My guess, is that Disney has a team on this. Orchestrating most of the leaks. Showing fans what they want to see. Directing them towards an idea what the movie is about, so real fans will be completely baffled when they see the movie and find out that everything they thought they knew was wrong. I mean fans will be fans. I don’t want to know the story, I don’t want to know anything … but still I go and look for as much as I can find. I’m a fan.

I hope that we’ve got it all wrong. That we’re waiting for Han to die, but it never happens. That, would make the movie even better … to me at least. I hope they are playing with our anticipation.

I do wonder about Rey not being written to be any specific race… if this trilogy isn’t about Skywalkers, what differentiates it from Anthology movies?

Also of note: throughout the whole panel, no one said the word “Rey”. They introduced each cast member along with their character name except Daisy Ridley, and she was repeatedly referred to as “Daisy” or “Daisy’s character”. Maybe she really is “Kira” after a mid-movie revelation?

I could be wrong, but it seemed JJ was placating the person asking the “Asians” question. Star Wars tends to get bashed as far as racial and gender diversity.

I wasn’t reading that much into it. We’ll see when the movie is released.

I think they are intentionally confusing us. I don’t believe there would be no offspring of the original trio in the sequel trilogy. Now it may not be revealed in TFA. But count me surprised if Rey/Kira is not a Skywalker/Solo.

          No, it wasn’t.

The question was specifically about Asian characters in Star Wars, who have been ridiculously under-represented for almost the last 40 years.

“Chinese made movies definitely don’t use Caucasian or African actors or actresses…”

Seriously? Please tell me that wasn’t an attempt to be clever.

a> Yes, they do. Not often, granted, but they do.

b> Hollywood films make mad amounts of money in China. Avengers 2: Over $200 million. Minnions: $115 million in the first weekend.

c> If you’re living in a “western” country, like the USA, Britain, Canada, Australia, you’re not living in a “white” society. You may wish you are (sounds like you do) but you’re not. China is predominantly Chinese. You’ll see a non-Chinese person here and there, but for the most part, they’re living in a Chinese world.

d> This argument is getting REALLY old. In the beginning, I didn’t get into it. I thought “Yeah, there’s bound to be a few goofs out there that are going to hate the fact that Star Wars isn’t portraying a Master Race but it’ll die down”. And it has died down. Now, there’s just a few dolts out there still going on about it, and it’s like kids having temper tantrums. It’s sad and pathetic. Get over it! It’s not going to change.

e> Don’t watch the movie. Do something more fulfilling with your time like, I don’t know, get that third swastika tattoo you’ve been thinking about.

I really hate using the term racist, because it’s used too often and doesn’t accurately portray the type of person that posts nonsense like this.

Dumb ass is a simpler and far better descriptive of freaks like you.

Actually, in the west, white is still the majority as percentages go, but the point is this: if someone white writes white stuff, it doesn’t mean they’re racist anymore than someone black writing something with only black people, Asian with Asian, etc.

Shoehorning a character into an established franchise(half of the actors being in flipping head to toe costumes; the other half being returning characters from over 30 years ago) isn’t the right way to go about correcting those 40 years.

You go make your Asians in Space film if you want to do your part. TFA is PLENTY diverse!

          • July 13, 2015 at 11:52 am
            Permalink

To be fair, if the person asking the question was up to date on TFA news (by following this site, for instance), they would’ve known that there have been Asian actors cast in this film. Not only that, but it seems to me that Sabine from Rebels is also supposed to be Asian. So I kinda agree a little about it being a wasted question from my own perspective, in so much as I would’ve preferred to hear the answer to one that might reveal a bit more info about the film. That being said, the person who asked has the right to ask whatever they want, so who am I to say it was a wasted question if that’s what they wanted to know. *shrug*

Well actually … I am wondering. If like the world is going like it is today, people migrating, mixing races (I’ve got no problem with that at all) at some point you’ll have one race left. What would that person look like? No, I don’t think LucasFilm thinks that way … but in 10.000 years there will not be as many races on earth as there are today.

I’m still confused about Poe and how/why Finn ends up with his jacket. Does Poe die in the TIE crash? If he really is Leia’s son and the whole arc is Finn/Rey redeeming him, that would be… something.

It would explain his absence from basically everything beyond the opening sequences; maybe those X-Wing shots in the teasers are actually from near the start of the film? The climax is supposedly all on Sullust, not Yavin…

Perhaps multiple villages get scorched in the film, as concept art showed forest scenes with fire.

I also found the way they filmed Rey with the falcon/ IMAX very interesting… usually the platform of vehicles is somewhat stable & cameras are used to create the effect of things turning/ twisting. Must be a pretty crazy scene!

I am especially curious with the new TIE fighters. The lower turret showed by reflection in this image http://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/B3954_SWTFA_TIE_closed_final.jpg kind of confirms that the one seen in the second teaser is indeed firing backwards, if correct, that could be a very deadly improvement over the classic TIE! I wonder if those new “bracelets” that connect the cockpit with the solar arrays have a function beyond aesthetics. They may allow the cockpit to turn and expose the hatch horizontally for an easy access. And that which appears to be a twin cannon pointed upwards could be a sentry gun to protect the pilot while approaching… wow, maybe I’m overthinking stuff xp

I’m just going to come out with the following bold statement:

Star Wars isn’t for you Gen X-ers and older folks anymore (particularly those that saw the OT as kids/youth when they were released in theaters). Heck, I’m not even too sure that Stat Wars is for us older Millennials either. All the direct marketing (not this talk about practical effects and whatnot) will be geared towards young adults and youth.

This message is for you Gen X-ers and older folks: you are the reason that the Star Wars franchise can’t evolve (because you aren’t letting it); you are the ones holding the franchise back from evolving.

That is indeed a bokf statement and so far I feel the marketing had been exclusively directed at oldtimers like myself.

I agree with the OP. Although there is all this talk about practical effects and whatnot, the marketing for all these new ST movies will not actually be targeted towards Gen X-ers (and older) and it’s going to become clearer this fall as to which demographics TFA is being targeted towards (which will most likely be youth and young adults).

No, I don’t think so. It’ll be marketed as a family film, at the widest demographic possible. Actually the generation X’s, need to be onboard with the film as much as their children, because at the end of the day, they are going to be the ones that will be paying for their kids to see the film.

Anon @21:35; You may be somewhat right, I, who happens to b a Gen X-er, care nothing about holding this saga back. I’ve been waiting for these three films for over thirty-five years and want to see them done in a way that will invoke a great finale for a pre-planned nine episode saga.

The blaster that Poe is carrying while running around his X-wing is the same one that Finn is holding in that poster. So, is it the exact same one, or is it a standard issue Resistance model?

I really hope none of the new kids ends up being related to the old trio. It kind of annoyed me when people started saying that Rey has to be related to the Skywalkers. Their reasoning was that she looks like Padme, because they both have… hair? I don’t even know.

they kept emphasizing ‘family’ you dunce, thats why there could be relation. and in SW there have been mostly related people, even to those of you who keep insisting on calling it a ‘saga’, it’s primarily a family saga then. and no, not just the “hair”.

The films are about the Skywalker bloodline.

And if you don’t care for that(god knows why) then the timeline suggests if Leia had any kids they’d be 20-25 and ridiculously powerful jedi.

So add the 2 together and it would be pretty stupid to not have a new Skywalker jedi in the new films.

The wolf-like character in #4 drawings (top left photo) is what George Lucas turned down in McQuarrie’s first attempt for how Yoda should have looked like before giving us the adorable “Einstein (for wisdom)” version in puppetry of ESB in 1978! It is also the 2007 McQuarrie concept for Chewbacca Hasbro action figure. The “death face” photo below was concept art to Gran Moff Tarkin of 1975 before hiring a matching face of an actor (that concept art went into EP III’s General Grievous)!

As far as all productions footage of day 1 it makes no sense to rush the story or we have some gap between EP VI and 30 years of backstory before EP VII!? I will wait until the movie release to find out and be surprised! ( 😉 3

The original cast will be the kenobi and yoda of this trilogy, and it’s not a big deal if luke has only a Little screen time in the end of the movie, because there are other 2 movies after TFA where he can appear 😀
we cannot have every character have a lot of screen time in one movie or the risk is that it will become a mess.

Poe wears a brown leather jacket, that I assume he gives to Finn for helping him escape the Star Destroyer. Han Solo also wears a brown leather jacket, both are a little cocky. I’m subscribing to the theory that Poe is Han Solo’s/Leia’s son. Also starting to believe that Kylo Ren is Poe’s evil brother. Possibly that’s the reason why Kylo Ren doesn’t have Poe killed instead of taking him prisoner.

I think this is a very good observation and I do believe the film was follow the old eu and have solo offspring with one turning to the dark side, but that is as far as I think they will follow it, I have also read that Poe is on a mission to retrieve rey, who I think will be the other sibling who went into exile following her brother turning to the dark side or some feud between the family

^ That’s the common theory, and while I agree a bit, I actually think Rey is Luke’s daughter, making her and Kylo cousins instead. I don’t think Abrams and Kasdan followed anything from the old EU, so I don’t think there are really any Jacen and Jaina parallels.

That worries me too. I really hope it isn’t true because this is the story of the Skywalkers. Period. Otherwise, it’s an Anthology film. What gives me hope is that Kathleen Kennedy basically said the same exact thing when describing the Anthology films as films that do not have to do with the Skywalker line (or something like that), strongly hinting one of the main characters in the ST will be a Skywalker. Personally, my theory is, like everyone else’s, is that Rey is a Skywalker, just not the one everybody thinks she is. I think she might be Luke’s daughter, rather than Han and Leia’s. I can make a pretty good argument for that theory, but I won’t get into it here cuz it’s really long.

I think that there will be no mention of any offsprings in TFA, but that we’ll know if someone is related to a Skywalker in episode VIII (kinda like we discovered in ep V that Luke was vader’s
Son. This way they can build up the characters well in TFA, and then make the big reveal in ep VIII.
After all TFA is the first of a trilogy, and while it can have a close story like ep IV, many questions will have no answer.

***spoilers if you are not interested in leaked rumors***
My biggest question is why the heck does anyone care about Anikans old lightsaber? I mean maybe kylo is indeed a relic hunter, but it seems too flimsy to be the macguffin if the only purpose for it is to improve Kylo’s Vader cosplay. It doesn’t have any special powers, kylo already has a saber and other Vader relics. And I would be VERY incredulous to think its some secret key to anything since neither luke nor Anikan had it very long to set that up. Short of resurrecting Vader through some magic spell (which they are also not doing I would hope) I can see absolutely no reason that this saber is anything other than a historical curiosity that could be easily replicated. Are the saber macguffin rumors false or is there something I’m missing.

      **potential spoiler response**
We don’t even know if Kylo even wants the saber. I think we have all assumed he was after it but he may be after something/someone else. The saber may simply be a small catalyst that sets our heroes off on a search for Skywalker. Dunno, just a thought I had as I read your comment.

Now I have no envisioned version of this movie in my head but most fans can put together a better movie out of their ass then this supposed leak. Disappointing if this is the movie we get in December

    • July 14, 2015 at 6:41 am
      Permalink

Honestly, I think it all depends on context. Most of the leaked stuff are a recap of what happens in various scenes, some pivotal, but there is no dialogue, and very little context besides the other leaked scenes. I will agree that the leaked info is mostly underwhelming, and some of it downright disappointing, but again, that is taken out of context. The dialogue, as well as other non-leaked scenes could make all the difference to whether this film and story is great or not. Personally, I have a theory about Rey, and some of the main plot points that fits well with everything that has been leaked. If I’m right, and that is a big IF, of course, then I think it makes everything we know seem a lot better, and the movie could actually be fantastic. Even if I’m wrong, it could still be amazing. It’s just so hard to tell when all you have is some scene descriptions. If the leaks are correct, though, there is one thing that will piss off most fans, no matter how great the rest of the film is. I won’t give it away, though.

It is not that like you are thinking! You can’t have a sequel to things that are basically killed off by ANH and many remnants of more major characters in EP IV-VI (including Ben Kenobi, NO YOUNGER EWAN-TYPE, Yoda, Darth Vader, NOT HELMET AND SUIT, many Imperial leaders and officers, Emperor Palpatine)!

There is no need to consider all the past characters (most should have died out to be the way of the lifeforce to the living)! We now have new story characters to build with only OT surviving rebels to focus on; and, same thing with merchandising so as to not confuse newer people and non-Star Wars fans (!? Yet) or other moviegoers what they should buy to patronize the correct movies they now want to buy for! — IT IS JUST EASIER TO CONCENTRATE ON NEW OWNERS, DISNEY’S, UPCOMING 100s or 1000s MERCHANDISING NEWER STUFF! If there ever becomes a larger EU to PT Disney appeal vs what they are giving then and only then will they bring it back! IT MAKES NO SENSE WHEN YOU GO WITH NEW AND IMPROVED MINDSET!

I have wondered if the leaks we have heard so far are true, but that they only lead us up to the end of the 2nd act – ie Luke has the big reveal, receiving his saber back as reported, but this then kicks off the final section and the big climax which has been kept under tighter wraps.

Second act leaks are still even patchy at best. There’ve been a couple specific scenes that be pointed to but it’s much harder to map out the general arc of whats going on, as opposed to the first act, for example, where it’s pretty certain we can map out 75%-80% of the nature of the conflict and plot turns.

Any thoughts of that grey full-scale figure of a bald man in the creature workshop (min 01:54)? Just from the cheekbones, it looks a bit like Domhanall Gleeson’s (General Hux) character.

Leia is wearing a wedding ring…
…trailer lightsaber recipient is wearing a wedding ring.

    Who is she married to?

Is it a wedding ring or something even more important?

Or is it just a red herring…

She married Tyrion Lannister to form an alliance.

Personally, my theory is that she and Han are married, but have been separated for several years for reasons that tie into other theories I have. The fact she is part of the leadership of the Resistance, while Han and Chewie are seemingly adventuring around the galaxy lends some credence to this idea.

also the slates in he beginning of the video reveals the scene numbers. I don’t have time to analyze all of them but it’s interesting to see that the storm trooper scene inside what seems to be a transporter (from the first teaser) is scene #3 which is right in the beginning of the movie.

They dont shoot in order. It may have been the 3rd scene shot, not necessarily the 3rd shot of the movie….

No, the ‘Scene Number’ on the clap board is indeed an indication of when in the movie it takes place. It’s necessary for the editors to see this precisely because, as you said, movies are more often than not shot out of sequence.

You can see to the left of the ‘Scene Number’ the Roll Number, which is a better indicator of how far in production the particular scene was shot. Notice that Roll 37 is in the desert (the location where filming began) while rolls 57 and 58 are Imperial interiors, which were likely film at Pinewood upon the production’s returns from Abu Dhabi.

^ What he said. Scene Number is from the script. It is THE BEST possible indicator of the chronological order of the shots we see within the film.

I haven’t read this leaked plot that people are now assuming is 90% accurate, but from what I’ve heard, it sounds like people think Luke will have a small role in this movie and that the original 3 won’t have much interaction.

Looking at the pictures above, it certainly seems like the original 3 are all on the same set. It’s also been pretty clear that JJ doesn’t let people who are not involved in a scene on set.

I’m thinking, and hoping, that this leak/rumour will prove to be untrue.

“The Force Awakens” infers the yawn fest that has been GL’s ATTEMPT at a cinematic legacy is now being energised by Corporate Powerhouse that will take it’s $4billion investment and create the Ultimate Power in the Universe. Don’t be too proud of this Cinematic Terror that is being constructed, the ability to buy out George Lucas is insignificant to the Power of the Farce…

You sir, are a moron. George Lucas obviously did not care for the development of a story – history shows he put all his chips on red (5), being the rights to merchandising the poodoo out of his original concept. Four billion was just the icing on the bantha.

The Stormtrooper escorting Poe Dameron has exactly the same stocky build, with slightly bow legs, as John Boyega. And they are the same height.
I have a theory that this is a planned move – part of a plot to infiltrate a base / HQ maybe – with Boyega pretending to have O. Isaac as his prisoner.

I like how JJ shoots his stuff outside in natural light (the cockpit picture), he done that alot in the Star Trek films and they look so much better then them trying to match a greenscreen background.
