UNICEF KID POWER Celebrates Kid Power Month with activity packed Saturday to help save lives

Saturday, May 13, 2017
Microsoft Square at LA Live, Los Angeles, CA

What: This May UNICEF Kid Power is asking children and families around the nation to Show the World Your Kid Power. On Saturday, May 13th, UNICEF USA will host an activity packed afternoon of games and entertainment to encourage children and families to get active and save lives. This is the second of three events that will encourage local families to show their Kid Power, get active and help save the lives of severely malnourished children around the globe. The UNICEF Kid Power Team hopes to use daily activity to unlock 1 million packets of lifesaving Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) packets in the month of May.

The event will feature a Star Wars inspired activity, a Target crazy maze, main stage entertainment and much more!

Why: UNICEF Kid Power activates kids’ inner heroes, giving them the power to end global malnutrition and save lives, one step at a time.

Only 1 in 4 American kids is getting enough physical activity, while almost 1 in 4 children globally is malnourished. With the UNICEF Kid Power Band, kids run, jump and play to unlock lifesaving nutrition that UNICEF delivers to severely malnourished children around the world. With ongoing conflicts and countries facing famine, the need to support UNICEF’s nutrition work is great. Families can truly make an impact for children around the world with UNICEF Kid Power.

This spring over 25,000 students in the Los Angeles region have participated in the UNICEF Kid Power Schools Program, unlocking over 200,000 RUTF packets. To date, the UNICEF Kid Power Team has provided more than 6.4 million packets of RUTF, enough to save the lives of more than 40,000 malnourished children.
