Nolan North: Visceral’s Star Wars Game to be Like Uncharted.

Visceral

Voice actor Nolan North confirmed at MetroCon that the Star Wars video game that Visceral Games are working on is going to be in the style of Uncharted (something that we’ve reported on previously as a rumor). Make the jump ahead to hear a few more details about the game…

North, best known for his role as Nathan Drake in the Uncharted video game series, has kept in contact with Amy Hennig, who worked closely on that series and is now spearheading the new Visceral Games project. Here’s what she told him:

  • The game is “a reboot of a new franchise”. While North’s wording here is a little odd, it sounds as though Visceral’s intention for the project is to create a new franchise from the game. This statement also alludes to the idea that the title will fit snugly within Disney’s Star Wars canon going forward (whereas the Star Wars: The Old Republic game and its forthcoming expansions are all firmly Legends).
  • The game will play similarly to Uncharted. This should come across as unsurprising given Hennig’s involvement. As mentioned in a previous article.

Star-Wars-1313

  • The game is NOT Star Wars 1313. The Boba Fett-centered game that followed the character between the Prequel Trilogy and the Original Trilogy was shelved when Disney bought out Lucasfilm, and it doesn’t look like it’s coming back soon, if ever. (That being said, I get the feeling that the story planned for it may possibly be brought into another medium, like what they’ve been doing with the unfinished episodes of The Clone Wars.) North did note that the game would still be “along the same lines”.
  • He knows more about the game than what he’s said here. “I happen to know a lot about it, and it’s going to be awesome!” (A bit of speculation on my part: given that North is also extremely prolific as a voice actor, there is a chance he very well could have a role in the new game. If all the talk about the game being about Han Solo is true, I get the feeling that Nolan North could be going from playing a famous Thief to a certain Scoundrel – all with the blessing of his old friend, Amy Hennig. It should be noted, though, that he did not officially confirm or deny that he was involved with the game.)

Unless Zenimax gets bought out by EA this will probably never happen.

Ever since I saw what they did with Elder Scrolls 3, I always dreamed that we could get an open world star wars game by them. Knights of the Old Republic was AWESOME, but we need a more expansive game that is part of the new canon.

I’d like an open world RPG that is NOT a mobile game. Those things just are not my cup ‘o tea.

“real Star Wars fans”, really? You say that like you’re the official authority in deciding who is and who isn’t a part of the Star Wars fanbase.

Honestly, no based on what we saw in regards to 1313 it looked like a very LINEAR experience. Cover based, rails game.. could the story have been good? yeah, but shit pick up a book for that.

You just described the Ucharted games to a T, and that’s exactly what he said we were getting in the article up there.

I think that SW 1313 would have been a great game(even if it was an uncharted clone), a fresh approach to the universe and new characters but when they decided to put boba fett into the game..- well they take out the fresh approach, i hope if it is han solo game they better wrote a amazing history
    PS:sorry for the bad english

1313 was always about Boba Fett, they just weren’t ready to reveal that until a later date.

There’s no SW 1313 about Boba Fett, because Disney will tell that story through its 2nd anthology instead of the video game.

Please no game about Han Solo. A lot of people love him but this isn’t the 1980s for God sakes. He’s a classic character in a modern world. Lucas tried to appeal to my generation with Portman and Christensen and it didn’t really work. Rey and Pie Dameron seem to be good characters, make a game about them. Fuck this nostalgia shit, I’ve had enough of Luke and Han and Leia, give me something fresh.

Stop speaking for your generation. You’re just stating an opinion, not facts so don’t speak like you are speaking truth. Besides, there’s a lot of evidence out there that is contrary to your opinion.

Stop speaking for the rest of the mentally handicapped, also there’s lots of proof that Han Solo isn’t character from the 80s who has already been featured in hundreds of forms of media for decades? No -25 year old gives a shit about these stars straight out of the convalescent home anymore. Fuck you old timers, get a life.

““a reboot of a new franchise” someone in the IGN comments section boldly wished this was a Shadows of the Empire reboot. That would be absolutely insane.

That would be pretty perfect actually. I mean of the “legends” material, Shadows was always the closest to being actual canon. Lucas worked with the team, ralph mcquarrie did some sketches for it, heck the outrider was ex-post-facto added to the original star wars film. It’s a recognizable sub-brand and it is set during the classic rebellion era which is all lucasfilm seems to want to work with these days. Sounds to me like it would be a slam dunk as long as the game was…you know…good.

In a shooter video game do you think there would be president Obama and the NCAAP pulling this game from stores if we shoot anything other than aliens or trooper guys or WHITE OFFICERS!? What we need, since I see no Mace Windus nor Oolas nor Lando Calrissians (Bespin, Tattoine Jabba’s palace nor general) nor Endor Troopers at any Las Vegas sidewalk nor costume parties, is some director to expand more than a stagnant story like Mace Windu’s or Lando’s piloting skills used to support the rebels war efforts. I heard Oprah Winfrey has huge Hollywood cash or sports stars have cash to do a movie spinoff of Star Wars; but, … MONEY TALKS! BESIDES!?? … Where will a purple glow lightsaber be found in TFA or should it be reserved for such oncoming future movie director!?

What happened to the poster Echo-07?? He was doing an archive timeline forum of news on The Cantina and it hasn’t been updated since early 2015. He hasn’t posted in a while either. I was wondering if anyone had continued timeline forum or if he plans on doing it sometime.

The Old Republic is not 100% confirmed to be neither Legends nor Canon, but considering that they just dropped $2 million on the cinematic trailer for the new expansion I wouldn’t really write it off the canon list just yet.

Considering the huge following “The Old Republic” era lore has, they’d be literally crazy to exclude everything from canon completely. Yes, I am aware that the same happened to all the other fan fiction, but none of the other stuff was generating them $250+ million yearly like SWTOR does.
