The Last Jedi Red Carpet Event On December 6; World Premiere 2 Days Later
Japan is getting its own premiere for Star Wars: The Last Jedi a whole nine days before the film opens in most markets. This will also be two full days ahead of the World Premiere in Los Angeles, California (even though it’s being shown in Japan before then, oddly enough).
A fan from Tumblr by the name of Sleemo took notice of a particular promotion – one which indicated that the Japanese Red Carpet for the film will arrive before the official World Premiere:
“The article also says that those in Japan can sign up for a chance to win tickets to the red carpet event (10 pairs of tickets up for grabs), plus a special screening of the film later that evening (5 pairs of tickets available).”
The original, untranslated tweet containing this information can be seen below:

Lucasfilm under the Disney era has given both Rogue One and The Force Awakens a similar treatment, so this isn’t exactly unexpected. Odds are, none of you reading this will win those special tickets, but I though you ought to know all the same if you’re visiting Japan at this time.
Grant has been a fan of Star Wars for as long as he can remember, having seen every movie on the big screen. When he’s not hard at work with his college studies, he keeps himself busy by reporting on all kinds of Star Wars news for SWNN and general movie news on the sister site, Movie News Net. He served as a frequent commentator on SWNN’s The Resistance Broadcast.
Ugh, this means avoiding the internet for a week before the movie comes out.
Better make that nine days 🙁
The Tumblr post is somewhat incorrect. There is a red carpet event and a “special screening” on Dec. 6, but according to every Japanese source I’ve seen, it will *not* be the actual film itself. Most likely, it will be a short portion of the film as they did with Rogue One when they showed 31 minutes of footage at a special fan/media screening.
OH NO! This means the movie is going to get SPOILED before Dec 15 🙁
Oh yes
Only if you the house or access the internet…. watch tv, read magazines / newspapers (Remember them?) …
I recommend big antispoilers extra protection during those days!
No visiting reddit will be a must.
Reddit? I’m thinking stay away from the entire internet! I think I’ll go camping or something with no technology for the week before it comes out.
I remember in Australia in 1999, a week or so before The Phantom Menace came out, one of our more well-known media personalities was interviewing Liam Neeson, and made the comment ‘well, we know YOUR character won’t be back in the sequel’…
And this wasn’t some internet troll, it was on the mainstream news network!!!
Hahaha
We knew Anakin was going dark and we watched that trilogy 🙂
Depending on the time zone you were, you could find the whole plot of TFA in Reddit before you could watch it.
True 🙂
But we didn’t know how it would happen. That sort of thing is fine.
But I’d rather not hear ‘Luke dies’ or ‘Hux is actually Luke’s son, and the jedi that betrayed the others’. I want to be surprised in the theatre.
Yeah, this is total spoiler.
You are right, some films, series, books, start telling you the ending but not how and they are pretty interesting.
Please, you aren’t safe anywhere. When TPM was going to come out, I preordered my soundtrack. I got it, and there it was. One of the tracks was called “Qui Gon’s Noble End”. You gotta love spoilers for the titles of songs on the soundtrack.
Same here, that’s how I found out. And I sussed out the end of ROTS just by listening to the music.
By the time TPM hit the UK everyone I knew had already watched a pirate. It was really hard to stay spoiler free.
I forgot about that track title 🙂
At least with TFA, they didn’t call the final track ‘Luke finally gets some screentime’ 🙂
I am thinking of getting arrested and thrown in jail for a week or so…… to avoid spoilers of course. Suggestions???
That s useless, you would get spoilers there too.
They must be very pleased with the film.
according to the poster, poe is on the dark side (a little unexpected move) and luke holds its lightsaber at last !!!
Thanks for the warning SWNN.
Dec. 6 is the day that StarWarsNewsNet.c0m becomes SpoilerNewsNet.c0m.
After Dec. 6, I am not going to be visiting this site anymore until the release date. And during this hiatus I am only going to come here to take an occasional peek….just a couple times….a day.
It’s not going to be the same without Carrie. 🙁
is that a new poster for the film? Luke holding the blue saber???
Luke and Leia die in each others arms while a Porg eats at their flesh. Oh yeah..SPOILER WARNING !!!!!!!!!!!!! Spoilerphobia has gripped the internet folks !! I won’t go to extremes, but I will be wearing earplugs while waiting to get in the theater. Just in case somebody leaving the theater shouts out……”The Porgs are the new Ewoks….. OMG !!!!!!
So many Spoiler Phobia Princesses
