Rumor: Mystery Unannounced ‘Star Wars’ Series Casting Details

If the rumors are true, then Lucasfilm’s unknown Star Wars series for Disney Plus is beginning to assemble its cast. Most of the leads are said to be younger actors, indicating that the series is set to fall in line with existing rumors. Please keep in mind that no word of this series’ existence has come from Lucasfilm or Disney, and has to this point only been reported by unofficial outlets.

The latest on this reportedly unknown series comes from The Illuminerdi, who claim five major roles have been sent out via casting sheets. The characters have been given the following codenames and details:

  • Wyatt: Male, 11 years old, of any ethnicity, series regular. Wyatt yearns for great adventures, but finds his attention easily diverted. He wishes to be the hero in any situation he finds himself in.
  • Ned: Male, 11 years old, of any ethnicity, series regular. Is described as Wyatt’s bashful best friend. Ned is kind with a massive heart, but also tends to be a rules follower. That being said, Ned often finds himself pulled into Wyatt’s adventures.
  • Faye: Nonbinary, 12 years old, of any ethnicity, series regular. Is described as rebellious and extroverted, but at 12 years old they already have a chip on their shoulder.
  • Kylie: Female, 12 years old, of any ethnicity, series regular. Is Faye’s best friend and is described as serious, intelligent, and keeps her emotions guarded, behind a wall.
  • ???: Male, 30-50 years old, of any ethnicity, series regular. No other details are known about this character.

The project is codenamed “Grammar Rodeo”. While that codename might look like word salad for the average reader, fans of The Simpsons have associated the phrase with a joke in the episode “Bart on the Road”, which involved the title character and several kids in his classroom going on an unauthorized road trip. With that in mind, this story may involve a group of kids going on a similar, recklessly unsupervised adventure together. Production is said to start in June and end in December, suggesting a 2023 release for Disney Plus.

Star Wars The High Republic

It has been speculated that Lucasfilm has wanted to greenlight a more kid-friendly series for a while, and the details here match up with previous reports from Cinelinx and Bespin Bulletin, which have indicated that the tone this project is going for is “Stranger Things in space”. It’s suggested that this may be set in the time of the High Republic as counter-programming for the darker, more adult-oriented The Acolyte, which is also set in the era. It’s also possible that this is the High Republic production that we heard about a while back, and although this project seems much more likely to be a show than a movie, it does fit the bill of a fast-tracked project that will explore the distant past of the Star Wars setting.

This unknown, High Republic era-set Star Wars series is believed to be in development for Disney Plus.
