‘Star Wars: Outlaws’ Story Trailer Coming April 9
Ubisoft has announced that the official story trailer for their AAA game Star Wars: Outlaws will hit YouTube on Tuesday, April 9 at 9am PT / 6pm CET. They have also dropped a relatively new key art for the game, which you can see above.
Star Wars: Outlaws was announced last year as the franchise’s big video game effort in 2024, an open-world-type experience that would follow protagonist Kay Vess (played by Humberly González) as she embarks on different missions at the players’ choice and assume the consequences of choosing to work with one criminal gang and not another, or even betray them and become a fugitive. In addition to a teaser trailer, 10 minutes of gameplay were also previewed last year combined with the announcement.
The story takes place in a familiar time setting (between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi), will visit known locations too, including Tatooine, and will feature known characters like Jabba the Hutt. But Lucasfilm and Ubisoft / Massive Entertainment, along with the developers of the game, hope to entice viewers with a new look at times and places we may have been to before, and now putting them at the center of the action.
A few snippets from the game, via interviews with the director or through various official sources, have made their way online over the past year. However, a more specific release window has not been confirmed yet. The game was recently rated in Australia (M, for mature content), South Korea (19+), and Brazil (14+), which could indicate that Ubisoft is nearing completion and could come out sooner than we thought.
The company teased last year during an investors call that one of their big games of the fiscal year 2023-24 could be pushed back into FY24-25, which goes from April ’24-April ’25. The thought was that this game would be Star Wars: Outlaws, though they never confirmed as much. Current buzz is that another big game of theirs, Assassin’s Creed, is coming in the fall.
