‘Star Wars: Outlaws’ Pushed to Later 2024 Release Date, Reports Suggest
In an earnings figure report, video game publisher Ubisoft stated that it is releasing a “large game”, thought to be Star Wars: Outlaws, at a later date in 2024. Initial early reports hinted at a target date of early 2024, possibly around March. The new report from Ubisoft now suggests Star Wars: Outlaws will be released sometime later in fiscal year 2024-25.
In the just-released earnings figure from Ubisoft, the report goes over the company’s financial performance for fiscal year 2023-24. The report states “great financial confidence for the rest of the year.” Because of this, Ubisoft announced the decision to move a “large game” to fiscal year 2024-25 to “maximize its value creation.” They company wrote:
“The overperformance in Q2 and the current positive momentum of Ubisoft’s brands build confidence for the rest of the year. The Company can therefore confirm its announced guidance of strong top line growth and non-IFRS operating income of approximately €400 million, without releasing the other large game it had initially planned to launch during the last quarter of the current fiscal year.
The Company has decided to launch this other large game in FY2024-25, so as to maximize its value creation.”
The upcoming financial year of 2024-25 will go from April 2024 to April 2025. Ubisoft did state in the same report that upcoming games like Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Skull and Bones, and XDefiant, are still lined up for release in this fiscal year. This leaves the only other big release from Ubisoft to be Star Wars: Outlaws, out of all the games we know of. Ubisoft did not respond to a request for comment.
In early reports from Kotaku, sources did tell the publication that the game was targeting a late fiscal year release of 2024-25, meaning up until late March. However, this was never confirmed, and the only preliminary release date that was given was simply 2024. Ubisoft could still hit the announced 2024 release, even with the push out of the current fiscal year.
Even with the push to a later date, Star Wars fans can expect more games to keep them busy. It was just announced that a remaster of Star Wars: Dark Forces would be released on February 28 of next year. On top of that, Minecraft also announced a Star Wars- themed expansion “Path of the Jedi” releasing on November 7th.
