‘Ahsoka’ Reveals New Picture of Rosario Dawson in Character and More

During the Lucasfilm presentation at D23, Kathleen Kennedy was joined on stage by Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau to expand on the Ahsoka series, who showed a brand-new picture of the character (see above, courtesy of Kristian Harloff). Another picture displayed on screen also showed the live-action rendition of the mural that was introduced during the Star Wars: Rebels finale, teasing the return of all the members of the Ghost crew in the live-action series.

While no new footage was shown, Favreau and Filoni had the chance to briefly discuss their experience working on the show. According to Filoni, a large portion of the crew grew up watching The Clone Wars, which tells us a lot about the passion there is behind this project, and also about the average age of the people involved. The writer/director of the series praised the lead actress and her portrayal of the character too:

“Rosario has been phenomenal. Every time she plays Ahsoka, she embodies the character more and more. Know that the people working on Star Wars love this stuff just as much as you do.”

Unfortunately, Lucasfilm did not confirm any additional members of the cast, like many had hoped. The panel happened around 24 hours after news broke about Eman Esfandi being cast as the live-action version of Ezra Bridger in the show, a sign that many thought meant we’d be getting confirmation of that in the panel. That was not the case, and though we pretty much know that the series will see the reunion of the Ghost crew, we still don’t know who is playing Hera or Zeb, and on the villain side, we still haven’t been able to confirm the rumors that Lars Mikkelsen will be playing Grand Admiral Thrawn.

While no specific release window was provided for Ahsoka, it is assumed that it will debut at some point during the summer of 2023. Stay tuned for more news on the series and the entire Star Wars slate at D23!

Note: The first version of this article incorrectly stated in the headline that new footage for the series had been screened at D23. Apparently, this was not the case, and we have since updated our piece.
