Kiner Brothers Reveal ‘The Bad Batch’ Season 2 Details, Confirm They Will Compose Unrevealed ‘Star Wars’ Animated Series

Some new details on Star Wars: The Bad Batch have surfaced thanks to the show’s composers – who have also revealed that they are working on a new, unrevealed animation project for Lucasfilm.

Kevin Kiner, alongside his sons Sean and Dean Kiner, recently appeared on a charity stream hosted by The Convor Call (hat tip r/StarWarsLeaks). While raising money to provide support for the people suffering in Ukraine amidst an invasion, The Convor Call got the Kiner family to chat about Star Wars for an hour and change, and in the process they shared some details on the next season of The Bad Batch. Minor spoilers ahead.

  • The two have been working on the score for the second season of The Bad Batch for quite some time, with it being developed even while they were scoring the first season.
  • An unspecified amount of time will have passed between the first and second seasons. When we return to the titular team, Omega will look older.
  • The show will take viewers back to Coruscant, with the Kiners composing a “political noir” compositions for certain scenes that may or may not take place on that planet.
  • The second season of the show will have a substantially larger cast of characters than the first.

You can watch The Convor Call’s livestream below (the Kiner Brothers segment runs from 2:42:17 to 3:43:00):

A fan on YouTube was also kind enough to compile the new details that were revealed into a more bite-sized video:

In addition to all the details about the next season of The Bad Batch, the Kiners also revealed that they are composing for an as-of-yet unannounced animated series. They could not reveal much about what this new project is, but they have indicated that the series will be fully-orchestrated:

“It’s at a point where Lucasfilm and Disney are giving us full orchestra for every episode and it’s a very special project. Some great, great people are involved and we’re really privileged to be part of that. And I’ve probably said too much already.”

With regards for what an unannounced animated project might be, two potential options stick out: the alleged Tales of the Jedi project that some speculate will be an animated series, or the currently-untitled CGI series from ICON Creative Studios. It is quite possible that these two things might just be one and the same, but until we get more details, it is difficult to say. This animated project may or may not be what Matt Lanter recorded new material as Anakin Skywalker for.

The first season of Star Wars: The Bad Batch is available to watch on Disney Plus. A second season is in development and does not currently have a specified release date, but it will release at some point this year.
