Happy New Year from SWNN!

2017 has officially ended and Star Wars is set to shift gears as we head into this new year. Over the past three years since the release of The Force Awakens, Star Wars fans have gotten into a bit of a routine. Watch some Rebels in the Spring, teaser then trailer for the upcoming theatrical release, Force Friday, Battlefront, and then the big release. But as we head into 2018, we seem to be shifting into a second phase of this new era.

In 2018, for the first time since Disney purchased Lucasfilm, we will be returning to our traditional May release window for Solo: A Star Wars Story. Rebels is coming to a close. We have no official information on what is coming to theaters from a “Star Wars Story” perspective after this May. We have no idea if there will be a next animated series, and if there is what it will be about. Will we have a Force Friday for Solo? What will a holiday season be like without a new release?

So many questions, so few answers. 2018 will be the year of change. Regardless of your opinions on The Last Jedi, Lucasfilm and Rian Johnson clearly have embraced this mentality and started us off in new directions for Star Wars. With so many unknowns in our future, it is almost like we are back in 2014 again, not knowing what the next releases will bring.

As we head into the unknown regions, we at SWNN will continue to follow all the developments and bring you all the news there is on the upcoming films, shows, books, games and whatever Lucasfilm develops in the future. It is an exciting time to be a Star Wars fan, with new news breaking around every corner. And we at SWNN plan to continue bringing it all to you as it comes.

So to all our readers, Happy New Year. And may the surprises this year bring, all be happy ones.

Happy New Years. But God I wish people would stop peddling this New Direction bull crap. It’s not a new direction, it’s a rewrite with minor variance.

“With so many unknowns… back in 2014.” What, it felt much different then. Full of hope we’d get new stories based on beloved characters. That newly interdicted characters would bring something new to the franchise. That the Skywalker heritage would be handed to a new generation. And we’d get a proper send of for the heroes we spend FOUR DECADES supporting. We didn’t. We get OT 2.0 and for our troubles they trashed Luke, Han, and made Leia invincible.

40 years and we land with a small group of rebels facing down a galactic empire full of white armor storm troopers led by a Darksider with special blood. The only hope of the galaxy lands in the fate of an untrained Jedi from a sandy planet. The only different direction is crapping all over the legacy of the OT characters and overpowering Mary Sue. Oh wait, some nobody kid did move a broom and Luke Astral projected.

Here’s to hoping Lucas Films realized fans have opinions and recycles the OT while trashing the OT was never gonna be loved by all.

Maybe it’s time for you to move on, then. The rest of us get what they are trying to do. You’re obviously too attached to the past and your own concept of what Star Wars should be than to accept any variation.

Man I remember this site back before TFA was even out. When you’d get like 1 or 2 comments. One of them being me lol.

You’re still my personal choice to see what’s going on in Star Wars. It’s hard to believe in May we are getting yet another movie.

I wouldn’t mind the movies slowing down a bit… I feel they need a bit more time to stew to truly give us something special. Rian’s trilogy comes to mind. I hope he really takes his time and constructs something unique. Something that feels connected across all three films.
