Aaaah cmon. Every single person that is connected to the movies and is PAID for it can not say anything BAD about the movies – see what happens to poor Mark Hamill.

Sabacc game – hmmmm im wondering if it will be in there when they tease the dice so much. If the make Han win the Falcon with a total lock dependent game of dice just to bring those dice there, it will be terrible.

About the 5 planets – wasnt it Snokes order executed by Hux ? Kylo was just watching the beam from the stardestroyer. So the responsibility is more at Snoke & Hux.

I think that is what annoys me the most about TLJ commentary from the media is that they are trying to prop it up better then it really is. There is nothing wrong with saying you love a SW movie, but it has flaws. I love TFA, but I totally get why fans don’t like it and I can understand someone thinks it’s unoriginal. It works for me, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to elevate it Lawrence of Arabia status.

What has been going on with the TLJ commentary is downright bizarre, as these people are losing credibility saying this is a masterpiece and snarking that the fans who don’t like it are just whiny internet trolls.

I believe “the media” are propping TLJ up because, to a great degree, they genuinely liked it. Maybe it’s all also a part of their subconscious response to an increasing crystallisation of the divergence between viewers and critics thanks to the increasing activity of some viewers online.

Personally, as much as I love the film, even I wouldn’t call it a masterpiece. It’s great and, in my opinion, does great things with what we got in TFA and in opening up new possibilities going forward, but it’s definitely not perfect.

When it comes to “snarking that the fans who don’t like it are just whiny internet trolls”, have you seen the devolution of comments here? People who had legitimate gripes with the film have said their piece and moved on, but some have doubled down on troll-like behaviour and devoting too much time and effort trying to convince everyone to hate the film as much as they do. Sure, fans are divided, but a portion of them do deserve some flak for taking things a bit too far.

Yes, there are really scaring freaks that will die miserably unhappy bacause they never got to see Luke leading an offensive against the first order — somenthing that would be undeniable dumb — Lukes hero arc ended in ROTJ — And the retirement is the only logical and intleligent continuation for a movie

To me that’s nonsense. That’s like saying, in WWII none of the nazis who actually didn’t slaughter thousands weren’t responsible!

But you, you have been a dedicated hater, and for free ? Don’t you feel you are wasting your life? If Luke leading the heros again was so important for you why didn’t you make like Rian Johnson, the genious who got Disney pay him and him alone the make the movie he wanted? (though many ideas, like Luke’s depression / retirement being ideas of George Lucas)

I loved TLJ. Every new post there is one of the prima-donna-haters that rush desperately to impose his opinion. TLJ:One epic scene after another. Flaws? LIFE, UNiverse and everything is full of flaws. The existence (matrix?) itsef is a very bad script. ex: 1 – Animals are eaten ALIVE eveyday in feeding chain. 2 – The universe is huge and (BUT) useless: impossible to be explored by its inhabitants. 3 – Most human beings are just dumb : THAT’s supid: the exiStence itself, (Gods creation?). TLJ? yes, it is part of the existence, so it also have flaws

Obviously, every film has its flaws, as you said. But one does not hate a film because “it has flaws”. I wish TLJ just “had some flaws” but I’m afraid it goes beyond that. It’s the countless plot holes, the off-putting humour, the serious pacing issues, the nonsensical character arcs, and the overall messy writing to put it mildly. It’s just not good quality story telling. Just my opinion, of course.

SW is plenty of plot holes, especially the OT. In the OT we had to swallow giant inexplicable things to have fun, but, still did it. With TLJ, we are in an era that plot holes as those of OT are unacceptable, but TLJ is STILL a fantasy space opera. What some consider plot holes (color of Luke’s underpants) other accept as a fantasy. And I hate movies that explain every little detail, as if I were retarded, or worse, as IF I CARED. I DOn’T CARE WHO ARE REY’s PARENTS, don’t care who is de demon of Exorcist, or why a Shark try to eat someone with a bomb inside the mouth in Jaws, or why Indiana Jones is useless to the plot, or why ddidn’ Frodo go to the Mountains of Doom flying in an eagle (cmoon.. some people are murdered by trees in this book).

John Williams. The undisputed absolutely consistently great part of Star Wars. He never failed us!
