These weren’t the droids I was looking for? Ha. It was alright.

Did I miss the reason why the new droid was doing his best Alan Rickman voice impression?

I figure it’s gotta be the same reason the team clearly wished they’d been able to get Patrick Warburton in full on Brock Sampson mode to play the captain.

I am optimistic about this episode, reason why?
This episode was a huge let down, that means, more amazing stuff with Maul and all other things in mid season trailer coming out in last 2 episode, which means,I will enjoy the hell out of those 2 episodes.

    Filler. Again. Oh joy.

This show, man, every time it starts to find its footing, it immediately gives up whatever momentum it might have been building.

How the hell was it filler? Chopper found the base.

Chopper found *A* base…. Which may probably have no use if next week’s previews are any indication.

So apparently it’s called Atollon… well, I wonder what will happen to that base, then.

Who cares? It’s not Yavin or Dantooine and it should have been one of them. In my mind, it would have been nice to know that a droid was the reason the Rebels had those bases to hole up in… but instead the story bards created a whole new planet just because. So I fear it will end up being of no consequence.

That’s kinda my point. They brought in a new planet that almost resembles Yavin from space, but it isn’t Yavin… are they going to stretch the whole search-for-a-base storyline even more? Is the introduction of this new planet even going to do anything significant for the plot at all?

no. I’m certain it won’t. I hate to be cynical about it but….

Awesome! Thanks for your permission not to watch – whew, I was really sweating that one! And I am definitely drifting that way, or at least, watching the episodes as they come out is for sure becoming much less ‘must-see-tv’. Although, I’m a little confused how my feelings on a show I’m trying really hard to enjoy affects YOUR or anyone else’s enjoyment.

I love Rebels. I loved this episode. But his opinion on the momentum of the shows story lines is accurate. They actually did a better job with that in Season 1, but this season they just couldn’t find a decent way to squeeze in the back story episodes to the over all arc.

One would think they might have made the back story episodes APART of the over all story arc, and taken a page from TCW and given us ARCS of episodes to tell one story.

Still mind boggling to me they’ve only done on two episode arc.

And arc, arc, arc, arc, arc.

Yep. After weeks of filler, we finally get a cool episode that furthers the lore and is friggin’ awesome. In order to capitalize on that momentum, the Rebels team decided to

      1. Take a 1 week break. Yippee!

      2. Follow up that one week break with a kiddy filler episode.

I enjoyed this epsiode. It was a better friendship origin story than the one we got for artoo and threepio. I liked how proud the new droid was of his accomplishments. I liked the way they built the relationship. I like Chopper better than most of the characters.

The episode started out as a little too childish for me, but then got a lot better as it went on. As much as I want to get into the Jedi stuff, I’m appreciative of episodes like this that take time to flesh out other characters so we know everyone a bit better.

I liked the episode, AP-5 is very reminiscent of C3PO, but he brings his own mannerisms as well. Love the Alan Rickman inspired voice as well. I disagree, it wasn’t a filler episode.

I liked the episode, and I’m sure my son (who is a big Chopper fan) will love it tonight when we watch it together. But I think Kristian Harloff on Collider’s Rebels Recap said it best – this episode was poorly misplaced. It’s not that it was bad; it’s just that it didn’t feel right after a week break to come back to an episode like this after the momentum that was built up in the last episode. I wouldn’t call it filler, because the ramifications of the show seem to be potentially big with the discovery of this new base. But it was certainly a beginning to mid season kind of episode and didn’t fit well into its two episodes before the finale spot. I also thought that the Imperial officer was a little bit goofy and had a certain Peg-Leg Pete quality to him which came off a little weird at times. That being said, I like the new droid and I think the next episode will be the better of this two episode Chopper arc. On another positive note, I’m glad we’re getting all of our character-centric backstory episodes out of the way so we can move the plot forward next season.

It makes sense. Dave has been bringing in a lot of KOTR era elements and Malachor being a major sith planet would be a reasonable place that would both be deserted and have the temptations that we know Ezra will have, given that there are many sith temples on the moons.

Darth Maul is most likely on Malachor whenever we see it. If I’m wrong, I’m wrong.

Chopper is such a sadist, without a second thought he left a group of hopeless stormtroopers trapped in a cargo vault drifting in a wild space. Just think about it, they have no means of communication, soon the temperature will drop, I imagine as soon as they run out of food they will have to hunt and feast on each other. This was a daaark episode

I was totally expecting not to enjoy this episode but it was actually the best ‘character back story’ episode we’ve had. AP-5 is great, there’s a real R2 and 3PO vibe between him and chopper. I really hope he becomes one of the crew.
