Wow, a gig for a 20 minute episode? Before dl’ing, can you tell me what video codec is this using? Going to be streaming to an older device that hates 265.

It’s a 40 minute video. 720p MKV. I’m not sure what codec was used. Quality is good.

I’ve never picked up a release from them before – KAT was my goto because links went up fast and were well seeded 🙁

RIP KAT. ANHs links here are up fast and direct, meaning you can vaguely cloud your IP with a VPN to obfuscate the potential trackers from the studios. Means you won’t get a nasty fine in the post. Whereas torrents, sad to say, should have died ages ago. Because they were publicly accessible they were easily traced, even with a VPN in use.

Research encrypted and password protected torrents and/or usenet. Usenet is what we always should have been using, protected torrents are decent if you can find ones that are well-seeded.

Of course, these things are only really important if you’re in a country where ftv options and paid subscription options suck.

It was just one of those episodes like: “Hey, remember us?? We’re back!!!” But I am excited for the upcoming episodes…

Well, still watching, but first impression is that the show has taken a visual leap forward this season – lighting is better, animation is better, BGs are better…just a more solid presentation so far. Noice.

I agree, I definitely noticed better texturing and smoothness this season when compared to the lats two. By Season 4, this show it gonna look pretty great.

Hahaha…silly TUD; the show is starting to look good and has some potentially interesting threads to follow now. Expect Disney to cancel it any day now.

-first impression i had was that ezra is boss! lol. straight chopping wood.
-not entirely surprised that this a “ease us back in” premiere after everything that happened last year.
-what am i surprised and pleased about is that they didn’t prematurely shoot their wad with thrawn. he’s not just going pop in twice a season like vader so they can take their time to develop him. very pleased with him so far.

I totally agree, I liked what little thrawn they put in there, ezra is getting a great story arc and hey look, Y-wing references for Episode 4! Now we just need them to mention something about making some U-wings for some crazy rebels on a tropical planet.
Also, when I first heard wizard I hated it, but now I feel like it’s the ‘cool stupid’ way to describe things. Like we all know it’s for fun XD

I enjoyed how the tone was different from this in contrast to the premiere we had for season 2. Everything felt more quiet, words spoke louder than actions this time around. Granted, there was plenty of great moments seeing Ezra turning more into a skilled Jedi, while the space combat is always a delight to see. Yet I really enjoyed how this was not a case of trying to top what was already done. It really gives some perspective of what may come, while seeing the series maturing more and more.

Also…freaking love the Bendu more than I thought I would! This may sound like blasphemy, but I found his words of wisdom and insight more charming than that of Yoda.

So those Y-wings are the ones from Episode IV!
Also – they lied to us! All those clips, the one with Hera and Ezra meeting Thrawn is from an upcoming episode!

Well, no one said it was from yesterday’s episode. Ezra and Hera meeting Thrawn is from the episode “Hera’s heroes”.

true… I was mislead by the various other clips…

I really liked this episode; especially the Bendu. Loved the voice casting there, and the same goes for Lars Mikkelsen. I bet Thrawn will be just as good a villian as in the old Legends (one of few things I really missed). Though, I really hope Ezra bites the dust (and Kanan too, eventually) – I do like “Rebels” a lot, but to me it feels so wrong having Jedi active so close to ANH. I always kinda felt there was only Ben and Yoda left…

    • September 26, 2016 at 6:40 am
      Permalink

Just random speculation, but my prediction is that Kanan bites it and Ezra turns his back on the force (or does an Ahsoka and does not become either Jedi or Sith).

Introducing the Bendu character maybe gave a hint. Jedi and Sith aren’t the only Force wielders. Like I said above, I just hope that doesn’t mean they can be kept alive (because money) because they’re not Jedi per se, so Obi-Wan and Yoda are still the last of the Jedi.

It seems ridiculous to some but the theory of Ezra being Snoke please me. And they share the same nose btw. I see Ezra becoming a dark user of the Force who would be in exile until Luke restoring a new Jedi academy

They share the same nose? I wouldn’t read too much into that.

If anything Rebels is showing Ezra on a path beyond the Dark Side or the Light, whereas Snoke seems to be out and out Dark Side to me. Plus I just don’t see them lifting the hero of a kids cartoon and making him Space Hitler.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

I just hope it doesn’t get to be a technicality, something like “well they are Force wielders, not really Jedi, so there being only 2 Jedi alive as of EPIV is true, from a certain point of view”.

They re still Jedi as much as Yoda or Ben, from my point of view. They re all ancient Jedi in hiding. Now i think the Jedi word should be used to define a cult, not all the light users of the force. in this case no one is a di anymore, neither Luke is.

I liked the Convor landing on the Bendu’s antler. I have the strong impression, that they are in fact his eyes and ears (if what we see even is his true physical form) and that he has been watching them (and especially Asohka, given her somewhat grey status).
But has anybody noticed the stylized Convor painted onto Sabine’s left shoulder? Wonder what that might imply…

Refresh my memory, but at the end of the last episode the little bird (which I assume is the convor) watches Vader as opposed to Ahsoka doesn’t it? That makes more sense given Vader’s level of importance.

Hm, not entirely sure… But in Pablo Hidalgo’s pictures of Asohka travelling through the underworld (or however one might call it) following her re-entering the temple, she is watched (or guided?) by a convor.

Why do I have the feeling that Thrawn won’t last 1 season…

    • September 26, 2016 at 6:35 am
      Permalink

I don’t think the show is going to last much longer than that IMO.

  • September 26, 2016 at 6:29 am

I have to admit that I am a little disappointed by the opening. I felt Ezra was too Anakin-like in the episode and that was extremely predictable after last season’s finale. So was Kanan’s quick journey back to “sight”. I would have liked the latter to be more stretched over the season and for Ezra’s anger to feel less resolved at the end of the episode, particularly since it’s likely we’re not done with that just yet.

Would’ve liked to learn a bit more about the Bendu and Thrawn as well. I didn’t really feel like I knew anything about them by the end of the episode.

Finally, the blindness and holocron aside, the events of the previous episode don’t even get a name check. No mention of the fate of Ahsoka or Maul, which I found bizarre given the gravity of what happened on Malachor (although I guess it can be assumed that they think Vader killed one or both of them).

So, all in all, this one didn’t really do it for me.Still, next week’s sounds very interesting so it’s possible it will address my complaints with this entry.

Introducing more sides of the Force is awesome, it can add to the discussion of “What is the Force”, maybe connecting to the sequel trilogy.

However, now we now that Jedi & Sith aren’t exclusive to wielding the Force, doesn’t that diminish Luke’s ascent? The title “Return of the Jedi” makes us think that being a Jedi is the best way to be a Force wielder, if you catch my drift.
