Another solid episode. And a special treat for those who are reading the comics. Being able to hear them talk about something I had *just* read a few hours before was pretty damned cool.

What was that, that was mentioned in the comics?

The latest Kanan issue covers the battle of Mygeeto that was mentioned on the episode last night, as well as gives an introduction to Fenn Rau.

Wasn’t it like the 5th Battle of Mygeeto? Did I hear that correctly?

I thought it was the third, but I’ll have to re-watch to confirm.

pretty sure it was third, yeah. which battle number was Ki-Adi Mundi leading when Order 66 was enacted?

As soon as I finished the Kanan comic yesterday, I had a feeling we might get the same Mandalorian this episode and I was so happy to see the connection actually made.

I know. I loved how the episode tied in perfectly with Kanan #10 that happened to be released on the same day.

A nice episode. I liked that they skewed a little bit more mature with Hera’s injuries, and they even used the word “kill”!

so much darker they made Hera badly injured used kill multiple time’s and if not for Kanan we would have seen a shoot out this will be the beggining of a darker SWR

Great episode. I am a huge Mandalorian fan. I am wonder if maybe the Fett clan was put in power to later set up Boba Fett actually being Mandalore. Well have to see but I am a strong believer

The Fetts being Mandalorian is not Canon. The only thing we *can* say for sure is that Boba has had no affiliation with the Mandalorians thus far. Last time we saw him he was being “mentored” by Aurra Sing, Dengar & Bossk, and was fully immersed with the bounty hunters. Mandos don’t like bounty hunters.

What are you referring to in regards to a Fett clan being put in power?

Well Jango is a Mandalorian, isn’t he?

no. He wore the armor but he wasn’t Mandalorian.

In the old cannon the Fett clan was one of the few warring Mandalorian clans left.A lot of the factions despised joining the republic and left knowing that one day they would bring back the strength of their race Mandalore. I know they changed a lot of things in the clone wars but my fingers are still crossed that they add back in some of the old clans. I really do hope that Boba is connected in some way in the future.

in The Clone Wars, the first episode where Obi-Wan visited Mandalore, it was stated that Fett was just a common bounty hunter who had obtained Mando armor but he was not Mandalorian.

Wookieepedia’s “canon” page for Jango states that he’s a Mandalorian from Concord Dawn. he was only considered a pretender (Fake Mandalorian) b y the new Mandalorian government.

well okay good, thanks for clarifying that 🙂 I actually really like that explanation, it makes perfect sense that was just their political spin to besmirch the Fett name.

I know it’s not cannon now but the Fett clan goes back to the days of the old republic. In the old cannon Jango Fett was raised by the Fett clan and trained as a Mandalorian. I just hope they connect Boba back to the Mandalorian culture somehow. I think it would be cheesy that a race that was created solely from Boba’s armor would not be connected to him at all. Also if not the Fett clan then clan Ordo

Where was the Protector’s accent from? Sounded sorta British, sorta gym coach-ish, and some Scottish thrown in

    • January 28, 2016 at 3:03 pm

The voice talent behind Fenn Rau is Kevin McKidd, who was born and raised in Scotland. He has done quite a bit of voicework. Most recently he has voiced characters such as Lord MacGuffin in Pixar’s Brave and Batman in Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox. He also provided the voice for ‘Soap’ MacTavish, the lead character in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare games.

His accent has detriorated over the years though which is why it sounds put on kind of like Mel Gibson and Nicole Kidman’s Oz ones who have been affected by working in the US for so long.

Yeah the accent was kind of a mutt. But the Clone Wars did that as well.

Great episode. I loved seeing the Mandalorians in this one and how the episode tied in perfectly with the Kanan comic that came out yesterday as well. The design of Concord Dawn is really cool…help me out though…I know I’ve seen that “broken planet” design in Star Wars before but I can’t for the life of me remember where.

If I had to bring out the negatives I would have to agree with John Campea’s complaints on the Collider Rebels Recap show. I saw Hera’s A-Wing come out of hyperspace and thought “now how and the heck did that thing travel through hyperspace”. I mean, I know this is a fictional world and all, but I thought it was a bit of a stretch that the emaciated hunk of junk she was drifting in while unconscious would have successfully made that trip.

I also thought it was weird that the two deaths in the opening of the show were completely brushed off and ignored. Hera is important and everything, but two other rebels paid the ultimate price and didn’t even get a mention in the show.

Finally, another episode that did NOT feel rushed or short-changed which doesn’t happen often so it’s nice when it does. I loved the episode, it nicely balanced all the elements in it between old character development, new character introduction, plot momentum, mythos expansion, and great action.

This was a great episode between awesome space battle, Kanan the Jedi negotiator, Sabine in wild west shootout and Fenn Rau, the new Mando that has to come back again. Plus, a great tie-in to this years Kanan where we actually see the battle that Kanan talks about. Next week, finally, ZEB. 🙂

I’d like to see more KOTOR long as they aren’t forced. Never knew the makers worked on the show.

They don’t. Hidalgo said that people who do work on the show have had fond experiences with the game and do their best to bridge those worlds as much as possible.

Dave Filoni, the Rebels Executive Producer and show runner, loves the KOTOR era. He tried to sneak Revan into the Clone Wars.

He’s pushing to be allowed to direct one of the spin offs. Obviously we’re looking at the 6th or 7th at this juncture. If you’d like to see him do it, start the buzz and post a lot about it.

So does someone want to explain to me why A wings don’t explode and how an A-Wing that is damaged beyond belief can make a jump to hyperspace. This show has its up but its crazy logic and plot armor for characters is insane.
