Daniel Craig Really Was a Stormtrooper in Star Wars: The Force Awakens!

daniel-craig-star-wars-pic

After a fairly profane denial, it turns out that Daniel Craig actually did have a cameo role in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens after all! He was a minor part as a Stormtrooper with a handful of lines. He most likely filmed the scene while making the James Bond movie Spectre, which was also filmed at Pinewood Studios.

Spoilers!

According to Entertainment Weekly, the scene he appeared in happens late into the film. Rey is in captivity at Starkiller Base and calls upon the Force (which she’s kept her knowledge of hidden up until this point). She uses it to try and perform a Jedi Mind Trick on the guard, who is fairly resilient. I don’t want to say much else, as the scene in question is pretty funny.

But in any case, it looks like Craig couldn’t even hint about the cameo role beforehand. It’s probably for the best that 007 kept the fact that he’s a moonlighter for the First Order safe from MI6. (Or would that just make him a Moonraker?) In any case, go see The Force Awakens, as it’s playing in nearly every film market available.

The generosity came as a Star Wars fan. As a stand alone movie, 6/10. A very average movie with a bunch of Star Wars stuff in it..

What pisses me off is that the stuff that happens before this film and after Jedi is infinetly more interesting than just about anything that happens in VII. I think it’s Disney’s way of marketing all the books, comics, etc.

I really don’t understand the reasoning behind the story decision either?
It’s like they tried to cater to, too many people and came up with a so-so story and put Star Wars stuff in it..

What worries me is that they will do what Lucas did with The Clone Wars. In that most of it will be seen in the EU instead. I liked that show and still like it better than Rebels but most audience members will be lost if they go that route since they are still looked at as kiddie shows by most.

It’s the very definition of an average SW film to me with II being a horrible one and Empire being a great one.

I think it will easily be my least favorite of this new trilogy and of the 10’s entries for me too when all is said and done.

Was pretty sure it was Craig in the scene, because of his accent. the casual rifle toss was brilliant.

Just saw it. It was better than the prequels, but in no way better than any of the originals, including Jedi. My biggest problem was the pacing. Everything — and I mean everything — was RUSHED, almost as if to hide problems with the story. The talk with Han and Luke about you-know-who should’ve been a quiet moment alone in a room. Chewie should’ve been shown in MOURNING more. Where were those quiet moments we needed? Still had fun, and I give it an 8/10.

Agreed, some nice pacing on Jakku but after that it was a headlong rush with no time to breathe. It was Star Wars for the ADD Generation

Do you even know what having ADD is even like? Trust me, it’s not funny. It can be fucking hell. Especially when you are trying to sleep and you can’t cause your mind is running several lines of thought at seven hundred miles per hour.

I liked the fast pace, honestly. I’ve seen it twice and the movie doesn’t feel like 2 hours and fifteen minutes at all. I don’t think they were hiding the lack of story, it sounds like they had more there but had to cut it to fit everything else in.

TFA is a lot of fun. Very fast pace (maybe a bit rushed to tell the story) but best Star Wars movie since 1983. Also does what a first film in a new trilogy should…leaves you wanting Ep. VIII even more. Go see it! I’ll be returning to the theater again very soon for TFA!

I saw STAR WARS The Force Awakens 3 times already,I enjoyed the hell out of movie, there are many things inspired from A new hope, not bad thing at all,I cried already at the beginning crawl, and of course at scene I won’t spoil to anyone. It is also so funny, and it has really great jokes. Many things are not explained, but that’s why we have episode 8 and 9.

I will do some spoilers about stuff I liked, and stuff I didn’t like,so if You haven’t seen movie, don’t read this:

1.Kylo Ren was amazing,he is not just villain, but we can see conflict in him, there are even moments when he realised that he can’t help himself, and I felt really sad about that. That’s what character development in Anakin missed
    2. I liked new super weapon- STARKILLER BASE. What they did better than originals,is make us feel about people who’s planets are destroyed,we saw their perspective from descruction, and it was amazing.
    3. I didn’t like that they destroyed Starkiller base at the end,I really hoped it will be main weapon in at least episode 8,even 9,cause it will be just too much if they create new super-weapon
    4. I also didn’t like how easily they decided to destroy a whole planet,on what Starkiller base is built on. I thought they will just destroy main base from where they use that weapon
    5. I loved Luke,he seems so sad and disappointed that he failed to train Ben ”Kylo Ren”
    6. I loved scene where Kylo kills Han,I started crying at the momment Han said ”BEN” (he is named by Obi-Wan,and moment when Ben wanted to go back to light, was amazing, than they showed how sun light dissapears, and he went back to dark side, and kills Han. I cried so much.
    7. BB-8 was probably one of the best characters in the movie,he is so funny, and I loved humor,Chewie and Han humor was amazing ”You are cold, really?” I just died there,or when Finn said ”We will use The Force” xD
    8. Things that were inspired by A New Hope:
    -Stormtroopers talking about new vehicle
    -Importance of droid
    -Cantina ”Takodana castle”
-Han and Kylo sequence reminds me on Obi-Wan and Vader scene
    9. I expected to see Maz Kanata to use Force on stormtroopers, but she was still amazing character.
    10. I didn’t understand character at the begining played by Von Sydow, and from where he knows Skywalkers
11.2 biggest mysteries from the movie:
Who is Rey’s family, and who is Snoke
    12. And believe or not,a months ago,I was thinking how amazing it would be if they stop with The Force Blast from blaster, and it happened, and also,I somehow wanted to hear that Luke trained Kylo, and he betrayed him.
13.Snoke mentioned to Kylo,he must find Luke,or there will be chance for return of The Jedis, which I hope to see in episode 8 or 9
    14. I wanted to see more of Knights of Ren
    15. Soundtrack was really poor, not memorable at all
    16. Chinematography was so amazing,I bet it will be nominated for best picture
    17. So many amazing practical effects, also as CGI
18.Every single character was amazing,Finn,Poe,Rey,Kylo, original cast, but I thought Phasma will be more used in action, looking forward to see her in episode 8
    19. Is Snoke really that big,or it is just because of Hologram?
    20. STAR WARS Episode 7 has best beginning crawl of all 7 movies
One of my favorite moments is when Han showed up,and Rey said: You are Han Solo? Finn: Han Solo? Guy from Rebel alliance who helped destroying The Emipre? Rey: No,Han Solo, the pirate who escaped with Falcon in 14 parsecs

It is almost perfect STAR WARS movie, but as I movie,I will give it 8.5/10. This is movie STAR WARS fans were waiting for!!!

Soundtrack wasn’t poor, to be fair there was so much going on in the film it was basically noise.

I completely agree about the Starkiller base. I didn’t mind that they used that plot device. I’ve said before it makes sense to me that they’d want to rebuild a weapon of that magnitude. I just wish they wouldn’t have destroyed it at the end. I think that more people would have been accepting of it if they would’ve actually used it for the rest of the new trilogy.
Also agree about the Knights of Ren. I thought we’d get a little more backstory on them but I’m sure they’ll play a big part in episode VIII.

Guys – and I mean the guys who created starwars7news.com – I know you probably won’t see my comment but i just want to thank you for your everyday update on The Force Awakens. Visiting swnn multiple times each day became my habit and I can’t wait to start it all over again. All this passion for the Galaxy far far away we have makes the statement ‘Star Wars is life’ all more real. I’m going to see the movie in about 2 hours and I’m beyond excited (even though I’ve seen some spoilers). It was a great journey and if the movie’s going to be as amazing as the anticipation was then Star Wars is Great again. May the Force be with you and once more – thank you.

But what about Act 3 and Luke v. Kylo. He told you. Snoke is Plageusi11!11 by Echo-07.

Plaguethat is no longer a Sith, Kylo would have to be a Sith too but he isn’t. So he’s no longer a Darth. Make sense? So what is it Plagueis Ren?

Seriously can’t wait for the Episode 8 theories. Anakin as a Force Ghost already a rumor a few months ago. Feels like a recycled rumor from Episode 7, just change the template.

The humor was hit and miss in this one. I’m glad they didn’t revert back to the fart and poop jokes of the PT but it was either hilarious or groan inducing. I didn’t care very much for how forced some of the meta jokes were either which made it sitcom at times.

I’m assuming that he got Craig in for the part as he was far less likely to leak, what would have been a big spoiler-ish scene. I wonder if that’s why JJ brought in these famous actors for these more minor roles? They included pivotal points in the story that he didn’t want leaking out.

Interesting to go back through and see (from what I can remember, most key scenes are done with few people involved).
