Fandango – Star Wars: The Force Awakens Has Sold More Tickets Than Any Film in the Site’s History!

Fandango

In addition to the good news regarding Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens ticket presales, Fandango reports that they have sold more tickets for the film than for any film in the site’s history. And the movie still hasn’t been released yet!

From Variety:

The seventh film in the hit franchise previously shattered pre-sales records, but now [Fandango] reports that it has sold more tickets than any film has moved during its entire theatrical run. To earn the record, The Force Awakens moved past Jurassic World. The rest of the top five biggest sellers are The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and The Hunger Games.

Well, goodness. I don’t know how many of Jurassic World‘s $652 million worth of American tickets were sold on Fandango, but if the pace keeps up, then The Force Awakens might very well be the most profitable film of the year. Stay tuned to Star Wars News Net for the latest and greatest news stories about the Galaxy Far, Far Away.

I agree! I want it to, but the math is really staggering to hit $350.

star wars reboot has more of a chance of doing that than this movie(because seeing vader and luke duke it out again will just destroy the box office)

I hope so, but that is a really tall order. Fingers crossed!

What qualifies a movie for the “most profitable of the year?” Will it be the sales during the last two weeks here? Or will they include next year’s sales, calling it the most profitable of (the movie released) this year?

Fairly certain “release date” is the important number. The parentheses after Titanic and Avatar are always (1997) and (2009).

When can we start talking about it. My review is its good, it’s frustrating though, because it really could have been so much better.

All the fears I had before the film came true, but the film good enough.

They did make some dumb mistakes though.

I’ll probably agree with you on all of them. Snoke and Maz were just terrible! All the villains sucked except maybe Kylo who I sort of liked.

Yea I agree. I hated Maz. Captain phasma was barely in it and too many little weird humor moments and it felt really short. Also the ending pissed me off. but overall it was really good. Gonna go see it again right now

[no spoilers] right away i need to say i need to see it again without the speculation questions rolling around in my head and just soak it all in. that being said, i’d say its in the same range of RotJ and RoS. it is a great time and the new characters are awesome. there a few things i’m a little confused about(especially one event), and something happened that almost made me lol unintentionally. but star wars is definitely back.

Totally disagree with the reviewers. It’s my 4th favorite in the saga so far. There were many WTF moments that lowered it’s status.

The ending left a bad taste in my mouth. Felt rushed, the music was incongrous, and it just stopped rather than ended. The only one in the saga that did not give me chills.

no way! I didn’t think the film was perfect at all, but the end scene, I really felt it

I regret even mentioning it since I have to pick my words carefully with the ban in place. The final setting was kind of cool but it felt very much like the pickup shot I believe it was. The only character more wasted in the film was Artoo.

Fandango will not get my business again. I was “humiliated” in line at the showing last night. Their printout clearly states “bypass the box office and go straight to the ticket taker” Well after 6 hours in line in the cold, I was forced to get out of line just before getting into the theater, unable to get into the theater and had to go to “guest services” and get a “real ticket” And of course, that meant by the time I got back in all the good seats were gone. AMC Burbank and Fandango have lost a long time customer and I will take to all social media today and their corporate overlord sites and let everyone know. No where did it say you had to get a “real ticket” nowhere in the theater was a sign posted to get a “real ticket” and why should I even have to know that if the printout clearly stated I didn’t need to? Pissed off!

I agree with everythinge u said. Yes spoke was weird. He does look a lot like plagues which I doubted he would be but now I’m thinking he is. The Luke scene was so fucksd up. Not one line! Now we gotta wait 2 years!!!

Oh yea I felt this fueled the Plagues rumors even more! He’s keeping Kylo in the dark, and he’s not training him to his full potential. As soon as he said to Hux that it was time to finish his training I felt like he was going to reveal himself. Episode IX Kylo vs Rey and Luke vs Plagues on the side ala ROTS

Exactly!! Yes the last sith vs the last Jedi and new apprentices. That would be epic. Also what was with the Rey flashback as a kid and Knights of ren. Was that them slaughtering the jedi luke trained? Kylo knew Rey had a memory of that island so maybe she was born there and like is her father. I really hope so

My thoughts exactly..Knights of Ren slaughtered that temple..but perhaps there are more Jedi lingering across the galaxy..but I’m sure Rey will turn out to be Kylo’s cousin, question is who did Luke get it with? Lol

Even worse was how BB was marketed as the new Artoo yet he vanishes completely in the final act. Piss poor writing there.
