I sorta wish the ST gets the same level of criticism as the PT, just so my childhood isn’t the only thing Star Wars fans like to mock.

The ST will only be that heavily criticized if it’s as bad as the PT. I can safely say that it will not be.

This just confirms my theory that PT “fans” are so butthurt that this new trilogy will make I-III look bad that they want to see it fail. Nothing will change the fact that TPM, AOTC, and ROTS will and have gone down in cinematic history as how NOT to do prequels or recapture the magic of the original source material. I very much doubt the ST will surpass the OT but I agree that it’s nearly impossible for them to be as ineptly made as the PT if only for the fact that Lucas’s corroding influence won’t be a part of the next three films which is why he’s so upset about it since this new trilogy will get the acclaim that his lacked.

The new trilogy might just beat Return of the Jedi though. That film isn’t much to talk about.

Aside from Tatooine and another Death Star, It at least has originaliy which this one seems to be lacking in as most all the material is borrowed from the EU or past films. Like with Episode III, I think Episode VIII is going to be what most are expecting out of this film. I’ve also never been a fan of origin stories.

Damn this “origin” crap – this is EP7… a continuation of the SW story. FULL STOP. If there is any hints of “reboot” then this will be the worst SW film in history…

Well, at least you are being honest about the level of preconceived criticism TFA is getting from you and a bunch of other people.
Now ask yourself why in the world do you care so much about what other people say of “your childhood” to the point where you have to “sorta wish” for something like that.

Rumor is that Finn gives the saber to Rey after Kylo Ren beats him and is about to take him out. It would be interesting if Finn uses the force to give the lightsaber to Rey. Instead of just throwing it to her.

Hard to imagine Rey getting her own lightsaber duel in this movie. However I do hope she has some skills to handle a lightsaber and save Finn’s ass because let’s face it, we have seen this in the trailers, this is not the face of a man who is confident he can win against Kylo. Rey is standing next to Finn in one of the photos so as I have writen before, she may have went for higher ground while Finn holds Kylo there. Then Rey attempts a killshot. If Finn goes down, which is by my estimate like 10-30 seconds in the battle, then it’s up to Rey or Luke to put Kylo down. I give Rey a better chance of having a strong Force moment to use her fear and anger to drive Kylo back at least long enough until Chewie comes to save them in the Falcon. I give less ground to the scenarios of Luke appearing out of nowhere and kick Kylo’s butt. It woudld be awesome and from what i have seen in the tracks Snoke will make an appearance (cross your fingers of him and Luke clashing) but I don’t get my hopes really up for that one. I just hope the final scenes of the movie are at least equal to Episode III’s not in visual or choreographic style but feels-wise.

I feel you but Ford is quite a rich guy so even if they offered him like piles of millions of dollars he wouldn’t have joined the movie as a character he felt wasn’t interesting or was ruined by a bad plot. So when he says it’s good and when I hear from the Council show that the people who have seen the movie saying it’s the best SW after ESB, I have quite the difficulty to have negative feelings towards the plot.

      • November 30, 2015 at 3:31 pm

that seems…unlikely. ESB isn’t my favorite SW movie but it’s probably the actual *best* one. I can’t imagine a future SW movie surpassing the emotional or story impact that ESB had.

I don’t think any fanboy sci-fi fantasy comic book hero type movie can be as good as ESB. Its the movie we compare everything to, its what we mention when we do get a movie that lives in a similar stratosphere, but I don’t think it can get ‘better’ (outside of petty nitpicks).

We will always ask: “But is it the ESB of _________ franchise”

This might be a rare opinion, but my favourite was always episode IV. Even tho ep V has better story, dialogues etc, I always prefered ep IV for some reason. That is the one that gives me the magical feeling, what made it so special. Sadly I didnt see it in the cinema, but any time I rewatch the movie (every year) I instantly understand why people loved it so much. Ep V is the better movie, but imo Ep IV is the more special one. People might call it nostalgia, but there are only 1 or 2 other movies which suceeded to give me the same feeling…

I guess that establishes that Rey really is the star of this film otherwise they would have mentioned it in this interview saying “the OTHER star of Star Wars”. Although it mystifies me how any one can doubt this fact seeing as how she’s front and center in all the promotional material and on all the magazine covers not to mention most of the merchandise. Then again we do live in a universe where a great deal of people thought Palpatine and Sidious were two separate people during the PT and many still persist that Darth Plagueis will be in this film.

Normally I’d agree with you. However, I haven’t heard enough of what Kylo Ren really sounds like outside of the few lines he’s delivered. I just think the possibility is there with an assault being carried out by him in some of the trailers. Which ever it is, it sounds really cool to me, idk why I get geeked out by little one liners like that but it’s really epic for me
