they ruined it, no clone wars, no space, no instant action/offline, no galactic conquest, heck even the PSP games had all of these and each their own campaign, and Elite Squadron had space to ground, all of them had many planets, DICE’s game has atats on rails ( you cant drive them) y-wing airstrikes like call of duty, are the only way to destroy the atat, we used to be able to destroy the atat with mines or rockets to the neck area.. heck we used to be able to be in them even in the PSP battlefronts,

why is the next gen taking a step back?? its half the game it can be and they are changing everything that made battlefront, battlefront. they’re ruining my all time favorite game series..

Obviously first and foremost should be a complete and fun game.

But there is an obvious answer to your question. If people are going to be obsessed with lifelike graphics more than anything else, that’s what they’re going to get. Given that it’s what customers are obsessed with, it’s not really fair to compare it to a PSP game with a couple hundred polygons/frame.

Even if it had been everything you`d imagined, after you`ve played it a few times and extracted all the fun from it, and the novelty starts to wear off it would just end up being left on the shelf and forgotten about anyway.

This is why PC steam games are better than Xbox or PS4
cause you can just wait for a massive discount seasonal sale to arrive and get the same game (if its available) for 70 to 80% discount, then when the fun wears off you haven`t been taken for a sap $$$. Less pay less damage.

According to this article and several others, DICE has confirmed that offline single-player gameplay will be included, using bots. There is also a game mode called “missions” which I understand to be omparable to the more familiar “instant-action”.

What no offline single player? That’s messed up.

No space battles, and Imperial walkers on rails that we can’t jump into and control? And no Galactic Conquest mode?

The graphics are impressive as hell, but so far it’s beginning to sound like gameplay has taken a significant step backwards since SW: Battlefront II.

I thought the at st’s were player controlled ? If not that’s totally lame. I regretted my pre order after finding out there’s only 20 players per team! I can picture the dev discussions @ dice hq: “why don’t we make a game that will tick off battlefield & battlefront fans alike? I’m sure they’ll all love it !”

All vehicles need to be player controlled and not on rails. No space no money from me.

I was hoping this would provide more answers. Instead it rehashed everything we already knew from the first trailer we saw in 2014.

I’m still not writing this game off. They’ve got E3 and hopefully these dev videos to help convince me this is worth owning.

I just hate how it’s such an over exaggeration of the events in the movies

Well, the first two SW: Battlefront games were the same way. What I always loved about them was that it was a great extension of the old childhood thing of playing with action figures and ships and putting them in all of these crazy scenarios.

To me, the almost limitless possibilities of who could jump into what vehicle or what kind of characters you could assault a given SW film environment with was what got me hooked on the SW: Battlefront games. And it more than made up for the fact that the games massively overexaggerated events from the films.

What I’m concerned about is that it looks like we’re going to end up getting a next-generation Battlefront game that is more limited than the one that was released 10 years ago for the original XBox.

Wow it seems like this is going to fucking suck. The graphics really aren’t that great either, the shadows and textures are not as good as they could be.

If I’m not mistaken, when the voice-over guy is talking about the Battle of Jakku DLC, he mentions the New Republic. I guess that confirms that the canon post-Return of the Jedi government is called the New Republic.

I still have high hopes for this game. Yes, I am little dissapointed about the imp walkers being on rails, but this kind of game style remindes me Enemy Terratory where each team had a specefic objectives for each map.It might be old, but it is REALLY great.

About the space battles – I steongly belive they will release map packs (DLCs) that focus on space combats.Same thing for the Clone Wars era (I hope).

My only concern is the team sizes. I mean, this is Star Wars!! Massive battles are huge part of it. Playing the Echo base fight againts only 20 players? Come on…

The first two iterations of the game had only 32 players max, at least on console, and it never seemed like a problem. Hoth still kicked ass

So – do I understand this correctly…? I can’t play this game alone? You have to play online with other people or not at all???

It seems to me they have followed War Thunder, or War Tanks as a game style, 20 players a side, maps are large, you die multiple times, and resporn. Could be good, have to wait and see.

This will definately be the most authentic looking Star Wars game yet… The real question is will it be FUN. I like all the heart and effort that seems to be in these videos, but if the match-to-match gameplay isn’t engaging then I am better off just watching the movies in HD and pretending I am in one of the x-wings.

I don’t know. It looks cool but the more they talk about it the less cool it seems. It’s like why can’t they just do it exactly like BF2 but more modern?!!

They said that there WOULD be an offline instant-action type mode. Just because they arent making a fuss about having bots doesn’t mean they wont have them!

As one who played BF 1 and 2 religiously growing up, and then having had the privilege of going to the EA panel at Celebration and seeing the exclusive behind-the-scenes look that was only available at Celebration, I think the game is going to be incredible. Some of the rumors on here (no single player or coop offline, no instant action, vehicles on rails only) are just wrong. I grew up in the California redwoods, or Endor, and was blown away at the panel by how astoundingly life-like and real the game looks. I have never played Battlefield and am no EA fanboy but am fully confident that they are on the right track with this game. Everything I have seen looks amazing and I’m hoping the game delivers on all of our hopes.

From everything that I’ve seen, it appears that the AT-ATs will be on rails for some missions, but there are a lot of other vehicles that the developers called out as freely drivable, including AT-STs, speeder bikes, X-Wings, TIE fighters, and they specifically said the Falcon as well. The AT-AT was never my favorite vehicle so I’m actually ok with that decision. If someone knows something I don’t I would love to hear it.

All I know is this. Having grown up with every Star Wars arcade ever made. All console games too. If this game doesn’t make you jump for joy. Check your pulse. If I can’t drive an AT AT is the sole basis for panning a game before its played then I feel sorry for you. Call me crazy or whatever but they can already shut up and take my money. I’ll happily dive into this Star Wars dream world game day one.
