Star Wars: Battlefront Footage Coming Sooner Than We Think?

Battlefront MockupAt last year’s E3, we got our first glimpse at the next iteration of Star Wars: Battlefront in the form of DICE’s reboot – before it was announced that we wouldn’t see more until Spring of 2015. While it’s generally been presumed that the first event that this footage would be shown at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, recent discussion indicates that more footage of the highly-anticipated title has a chance of popping up this month in addition to the April convention…

From Game Rant:

Outside of some scant concept images and the expected developer spiel about reenacting the most iconic battles from the Star Wars universe, what we know about Star Wars: Battlefront is largely limited to what we would expect from a sequel to previous games in the series. However, that might be about the change.

According to a report from StarWarsHQ, footage from the new game was shown to retail representatives at a closed-door event held this week. With gameplay seemingly ready to be seen by eyes outside of the studio, could this mean that we’re close to Battlefront being shown off to the general public?

We know that DICE has been given access to sets being used for The Force Awakens to take scans to use in the game. Might Battlefront be tied more closely to the movie than we know, leaving DICE restricted in terms of what they can reveal beyond the one trailer for the film we’ve seen thus far? We’ll just have to wait and see — but, hopefully, we won’t have to wait for much longer.

The nearest event that a new Battlefront trailer could hit at is the currently-ongoing Games Developer Conference, which runs from March 2 to March 6. While it’s more likely that footage will be shown off at Celebration, the possibility of an earlier reveal is still on the table.

I know an Insider from the gaming industry that was at the gdc and he said that the game is mostly done – works on the dlc’s and polishing, fixing and stuff is now going on as well as the final finish of it but the basic alpha build is rdy.

Between “the game is mostly done” and “basic alpha is rdy” are literally hundreds of different builds with varying degrees of completion.

That actually sounds more likely than a GDC appearance. Good thinking!

Oh man I can’t wait, I think this will be the first game I buy on digital and keep forever on my Xbox One. Still play a lot of Battlefront 2 on PC. Hope Galactic Conquest and the campaign are both there. Multiplayer I’m sure will be the main focus but there is just something awesome about taking over the Galaxy.

Yavin & Hoth is all I care about.
    Oh, and iOS compatability, too!
EA’s made such a big deal about how Frostbite 3
is doable on iPads, I can’t think of a better
    proof-of-concept showcase than “Battlefront”!

And I haven’t looked more forward to a game
in my entire life, I mean that.

With trenches and a larger map and larger variety of craft at our disposal would be awesome

Rhen Var, Bespin Platforms, Mustafar, The Death Star..all places I loved playing on as a kid and places I still love playing on when I whip out the games now, which is quite often. I even hope the still have the splitscreen option, there’s just something about taking over the Galaxy in your friends basement that doesn’t get old. Space to ground battles would be awesome too.

Why they still have SO UGLY LOGO?? Even I could make better one, and definitely more Star Wars-like. This brand & UI design is awful.
