The Force Awakens Already Bests Age of Ultron

TFA Teaser

The Force Awakens teaser trailer debuted on “Black Friday” of last week to overwhelmingly rave reviews and newsworthy excitement, even going as far as crashing iTunes. Make the jump to find out what else the trailer did.

According to The Hollywood Reporter the teaser trailer exceeded Avengers: Age of Ultron in views on YouTube:

The teaser trailer for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens had the best first week of any trailer on YouTube in 2014, according to technology firm Zefr, which tracks the numbers.

The 88-second trailer racked up 58.2 million YouTube views since being released on Nov. 28, the day after Thanksgiving.

58.2 million views accounts for ONLY those viewing the trailer on YouTube. This does NOT account for the views on the aforementioned iTunes which premiered the tease exclusively before it was added to other official sites which included StarWars.com. Also, this doesn’t account for Star Wars fan sites like ours which also had the tease available for fans, nor does it account for various news outlets like FOX News which showed the trailer in its entirety. It’s easy to surmise that in the last four days it is already one of the most watched trailers of all time with an unfathomable [read untrackable] number of views worldwide. Zefr concurs:

A Zefr spokesperson said the company’s research had the Star Wars preview on track to become the most viewed trailer of all time.

That, my friends, is what they call an understatement! One year out and the hype train is already at full steam ahead! Share your thoughts on this with all your friends in The Cantina.

It really shows the Brands power and how smart Disney was to pay all that money for it… Let’s hope they don’t screw it up… But from what I saw there isn’t anything to complain about- the ball droid was cool and reminiscent of the cool droids in a new hope and that lightsaber grew on me. All in all this film has a good shot at beating avatar at the box office… I know I can’t wait 🙂

I`m still wondering if scenes from the teaser trailer are even taken from the film. Maybe I missed something but they could just be out takes or they had extra time at the end of filming so they made a few quick scenes, that are not in the main film. I doubt they would show us anything real that`s still a year away. The characters maybe real but not the scenes.

Yeah my thought was since most if not all of this trailer has what has already been leaked..maybe just maybe J.J.’s “Look at the left hand while tricking you with the right” is in full effect. Just funny how the very things leaked are the things in the trailer. Or J.J. could have said “well they already know about this stuff so lets give it to them to preoccupy them while we clamp down on our leaks.” Just a few thoughts.

Maybe its just me but something just doesn’t seem right about the footage from the new film. I cant put my finger on it but theres something weird about it. Maybe it has too much of J.J.’s style, not sure. Something seems un-Star Wars about it all.

Lucas is barely involved. As much as Im confident the ST is gonna be great fun, and as much as people complain about the PT, i think the PT is gonna end up looking more like “star wars” then the ST is, and thats gonna surprise a lot of people. people can bash lucas and the PT all they want, but lucas CREATED star wars, and HE filmed the PT. PT is gonna end up looking and feeling more like core star wars then the new movies will. not saying the new movies arent gonna be good or even better, but they are going to feel as different as any of the previous ones….theres my inane ramble lol. i love it all though, OT, PT, and im sure the ST

Interesting take. I thought the 88 seconds in the trailer felt more like Star Wars than any of the prequels.

X-wings, TIE Fighters and Falcons will do that. It’s amazing how iconic that stuff is. Even the new Stormtrooper. Instant magic. Something the PT was lacking…

… And a lightsaber so impractical it can’t possibly be used in real life.

ANY lighsaber would be way to dangerous for anyone to use if they were real.

I’ll admit it didn’t feel like the classic Star Wars movies. It felt like a… modern Star Wars movie. I’m totally fine with that.

Updates to cinematography and special effects is fine by me. I loved everything I saw including the feel. As a matter of fact the only thing that felt off to me is likely the most loyal throw back… the cockpit shot!

Hey you guys…I’m sorry…I can probably safely account for the fact that I’m at least partially responsible for half of those 58 million views…

I just watched the youtube video that the article’s pic was taken from… that guy was fun to watch haha… because that’s how I was too when I saw it. It’s amazing how great of a job JJ did if he could just put smiles on people’s faces like that. Man we are lucky.

They probably asked him to say that.
Oh let’s make a bunch of fans look stupid for his show. That will get a laugh.

Why bother to make such a fuss over a sword
    for a tv show?
Most people I know don’t watch his show.
