I’d say I’m concerned with how Yoda is talking to him, but hell Luke did a similar thing with Leia in Empire.

Saw the episode this morning… It was a great link from the Lost Missions of the Clone Wars to the current Rebels series. Only thing I didn’t like was Ezra’s light saber handel……..

what version of New Hope have you been watching?
but yeah, I like the playfulness in his voice here, very reminiscent of the older, crazy, Dagobah-smoking Yoda. I like post-trauma Yoda way better than Bureaucracy-Mode Yoda.

Good stuff. Can’t wait to see this episode when it airs. Yoda sounds great, like he always has in every single one of his appearances in the first six Star Wars films.

Nope, it sounds the same in all movies. The same actor Frank Oz ( who was Yoda in all movies ) is the reason why he sounds the same in all movies… Ditto.

I’m pleasantly surprised to hear Frank Oz can still pull off the aged Yoda!

Hoping to see him in EP7 or 8

If we ever heard from Yoda again outside of the films I wouldn’t of thought it would be from Frank Oz but rather the other guy, Tom Kane, is that right? A pleasant surprise this is.

That is Frank Oz as Yoda. BTW… Mark Hamel does an amazing Yoda. I’m surprised they never asked him to do it.

I hope he shows up in the new trilogy – whether he’s a force ghost or just a voice, like here. As soon as his theme starts playing I get chills.

He did do the voice of Miss Piggy until 2000. You can hear a little bit of Yoda in that but not a good visual.

Actually it would be nice if they left Yoda the fuck out of this cartoon….this is stupid…both of these jedi better die is all im saying or it is going to ruin everything…Yoda should be in exile..bah screw it..none of it makes sense anyways…like why didnt obi-wan train luke as a child..instead of waiting til he was 70 years old to send him to dagobah to be trained by yoda on his death bed? lol….dumb..

Yup. This is definitely an ‘Empire’ Yoda performance. Sadly, he mostly sounded like crap in the Prequels. Weird, confused and lacking any real personality.

Frank OZ is Yoda in all of them.

No, he’s correct. When I heard this I finally heard ESB Yoda. Prequel Yoda wasn’t the same even though it was Oz. Watch ESB then watch AOTC. Big difference.

Yoda has the same Voice Actor. Period>

        HOWEVER

His acting DID change. Luke Skywalker looks and acts older in ROTJ, but he’s still Mark Hamill, but he STILL ACTS DIFFERENT.

Yoda’s (unfortunately) the same way, his Character (plot and voice-wise) was completely different in almost every way when he did PT than he had back in OT. The Accent/Voice Pattern was unaffected, but his Acting/Voice Personality were completely different between the two Trilogies.
And about the whole Character progression thing, I get it, Yoda went through a lot, he fell downhill and all that jazz. That affected his character. But his Personality was also affected (which is a mistake / a BAD THING continuity-wise).
People undergo changes in outlook and behavior i.e. Character when they receive trauma. But to completely rewrite your entire personality, that’s another thing entirely, which was not appropriate for Yoda’s story.
Grand Master Yoda does not come across as the same person who meets Luke all those years later in old Dagobah. He’s just too different, and that comes across in his voice-acting.
This clip here is closer to Yoda’s voice and character in TESB (what I personally consider the Real Yoda) than anything else we’ve heard this past decade, except MAYBE Tom Kane in the first episode of the Clone Wars.
At any rate, I’m glad Yoda’s out of Order-Leader A-Hole Mode and back into Miyagi Territory

Wow. Yoda actually FEELS like a wise, peaceful and compassionate Jedi Master here, along the lines of Master Splinter or Mr. Miyagi.

I know the XFINITY OnDemand service through Comcast Cable is only available in the US (and is regional in distribution), but for those of you who have the service, you can watch the new episode on demand now online and on TV even if you do not have Disney XD as part of your cable package. This is my favorite episode of the series thus far. Also got chills, I did, when Yoda’s theme and voice I heard, hmm. this episode was kind of like a cross between the Clone Wars episode “The Gathering” from the 5th season and Luke’s cave moment on Dagobah with a little something new thrown in. I loved it. And I’m digging the new lightsaber design and here’s why…Ezra now has no legitimate excuse to ever pull his slingshot out again. And all the people said, “Amen.”

If they want to have a Force Ghost in TFA, Yoda is the only logical choice. Hayden and Ewan would tick too many people off, and it goes against the mandate of pushing the PT to the side.

      • December 30, 2014 at 3:38 am
        Permalink

PT is not push on the side. That mandate do not exist. All 6 films are canon

Ewan as Obi-Wan is Fan favorite. For most people he is the Obi-Wan.

I would like te see all of them as force ghosts, Qui-Gon Jinn also.

True. However, I think it makes sense for Yoda to appear to Luke. Yoda was Luke’s master. A lot of people think it was Obi-wan but Obi-wan only showed him the ways of the force, it was Yoda who trained him. It would make sense for Yoda to appear.

They both were, Obi-Wan started his training, Yoda finished it.

Just because you dislike prequels, does not mean that it is the same for other people.
Most people like all 6 movies.
Prequel movies box office and DVD/Blu-Ray sales are proof enough.

I’m not going to disagree with your sentiment that “Just because you dislike prequels, does not mean that it is the same for other people.” I agree with that.

But the statement “Most people like all 6 movies.” Really? Phantom Menace?

Would all of the people who liked Phantom Menace please “like” this post.

The staple gun is nearly as lame as his sling shot.

Btw is Ezra technically considered a Youngling or Padowan

I believe since he has a dedicated “master” to train him, that makes him a Padawan.

Based on what Kanan said about that temple being there long after they’re gone…my bets are it shows up in EP7 somehow. You know Disney wants to tie this show into the new trilogy as much as possible.

In the Empire Day episode, whats-her-face said the Empire had a five-year-plan for Lothal. Maybe the planet is blown to bits like Alderaan right before the events of ANH. This would help to explain why we don’t see the planet in the SW universe. It would be cool if they tie it to E7 somehow though.

This show just isn’t doing it for me. The voice acting is terrible IMHO. The story lines are boring and predictable. TCW was way better.
