Star Wars 7 News Proudly Presents “The Cantina” Forum!

Mos EisleyFor the last few months the staff here at StarWars7News has been diligently Blogging to keep everyone up-to-date about all the latest rumors, news, and speculation regarding the biggest movie on the planet. In the meantime, we’ve also been working on a little project that we’re excited to finally unveil – our own Star Wars message board community! Instead of telling you about all the bells and whistles and details that we’ve incorporated I think it better that you just make the jump to hyperspace, take a quick ride to Tatooine, join up, and let the adventure begin! We proudly present “The Cantina.”

I still don’t understand how message boards became the default over chat streams.

I’ve generally found that chat streams (and, come to think of it, comments sections) are usually more instantaneous and impulsive, and users are more likely to be blunt and/or rude than they are on a forum. I believe a forum is better for actual discussion, while a chat could be good for smalltalk.

The rules and regulation are pretty strict, i hope the you guys do know the difference between legitimate criticism and bashing.

We actually had some discussions on that while we were getting the forum set up, Duke. Having been part of a large exodus of long-time posters on TF.N 7 or 8 years ago when their mods decided to go after any and all PT criticisms as “bashing”, I want to make sure that The Cantina doesn’t fall down that same rabbit hole.

My suggestion for the moment is for everyone to try to avoid turning disagreements over PT vs. OT matters (or anything else, for that matter) into personal swipes at one another. I think that’s an even bigger concern than whether or not people are expressing criticisms of elements of the films themselves.

Dekka you fuckbroom. Thanks for your diligent work (or so I assume). May the boards become a place for every stripe of Star Wars fan.

@Viral Hide the issue with signing up is not fixed. While the extra boxes are gone, I still get the error message, “Please correct the following errors:

Sorry, you must wait longer to create an account.
Something went wrong. Please try again or contact the administrator.”

I guess you managed to make your account in less than 10 sec.

Wait I know this is a far way off but will this website still be called “Star Wars 7 News” even after the movie is out

Most likely not – we’ll probably change the name to something more encompassing like “All Things Star Wars” or something.

20th Century Fox is still 20th Century Fox, but it’s not the twentieth century any more.

By the way, everyone, please don’t get so caught up in the forum that you forget to participate here on the blog itself!

It’s our intention for the forum to enhance the blog, and not just replace it.

It’s been a slow couple of news days, but I expect that we’ll see an uptick in new Episode 7 leaks before too long! Stay tuned…
