Lucasfilm Taps Solo: A Star Wars Story VFX Supervisor Rob Bredow to Lead ILM

THR had reported yesterday that Lucasfilm has selected Solo VFX Supervisor Rob Bredow to the newly created position of senior vp, executive creative director and head of ILM.

Bredow, who was with Sony before he joined ILM in 2014 has been moving up the ranks quickly during his brief tenure at Lucasfilm’s visual effects organization. After his initial role as a VFX supervisor, Bredow has also run the ILMxLAB and served as CTO since 2016.

Bredow on the promotion:

ILM is a special place. Getting to work with some of the best artists, engineers and producers in the business to create ground-breaking visuals for films and immersive experiences is an incredible honor. Having grown up on movies like Terminator 2 and Jurassic Park, I fell in love with visual effects watching ILM’s work. Being asked to lead this company in an exciting time of innovation is an incredible honor.

In related news, former VFX producer Gretchen Libby has been promoted to VP of marketing and production. She will report to Bredow.
