‘Star Wars’ Scores Several Nominations at The Motion Picture Sound Editors Awards

The Motion Picture Sound Editors have announced their nominees for the upcoming 69th edition of the Golden Reel Awards, and Star Wars has a lot to celebrate. Six different properties released last year scored one nomination — the list includes animated series like The Bad Batch, short animated features like LEGO Star Wars: Terrifying Tales, and even The Book of Boba Fett, which managed to land a nomination despite having aired only half of its season by the time the list was announced.

Here is the full list of Star Wars nominations:

  • VisionsThe Duel nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing – Animation Series or Short.
  • The Bad Batch — Reunion nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing – Animation Series or Short.
  • A Galaxy of Sounds — Excitement nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing – Animation Series or Short.
  • LEGO Star Wars: Terrifying Tales nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing – Non-Theatrical Animation.
  • Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge – Last Call nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing – Game Audio.
  • The Book of Boba Fett nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing – Limited Series or Anthology.

Lastly, even though it’s not exactly related to Star Wars, we should mention that Solo director Ron Howard will receive the 2022 Filmmaker Award, which was announced in December 2021. This is a lifetime achievement award, but since both Ron Howard and his daughter Bryce Dallas Howard belong to the Star Wars family, we’d be remiss if we didn’t bring it up.

The Golden Reel Awards will take place on March 13, and you can check out the full list of nominees here.

However, fantasy movies are not his only cup of tea, as movies from Scorsese, Fincher, Kubrick or Hitchcock have been an obsession for him since he started to understand the language of filmmaking. He is that guy who will watch a black and white movie, just because it is in black and white.
