Hot Toys Reveals ‘Return of the Jedi’ Han Solo Sixth Scale Figure

Never tell me the odds! This week Hot Toys revealed their first Star Wars figure of 2024 and it’s none other than Han Solo from Return of the Jedi.

This is a figure many sixth scale collectors thought they’d never see. When Hot Toys announced their full Star Wars line in 2014, after testing the waters with a deluxe Bespin Luke set a few years earlier, the first figures to be revealed and released were A New Hope’s classic duo of Han Solo and Chewbacca. A The Force Awakens version soon followed, then a Stormtrooper Disguise edition in 2018. But after briefly teasing a Bespin version later that same year, Hot Toys never released, or even tease, a new edition of Harrison Ford’s iconic character.

This may not seem significant given the slower release schedule of Hot Toys compared with Hasbro’s Black Series and Vintage Collection lines. But to put it in perspective, in the same time period Luke has received ten figures and Leia five. The Mandalorian, Rey, and Kylo Ren all equaled Han on three, whilst Boba Fett got seven. When last year’s 40th anniversary passed without an announcement it seemed like there was no hope of seeing a classic Han any time soon.

So when Hot Toys revealed the figure on Facebook collectors were, understandably, very happy. With the original A New Hope edition long sold out, for many this is their first chance to own Han in his iconic original trilogy look. Debuting the figure, Hot Toys wrote:

Han Solo rose from an impoverished childhood on the mean streets of Corellia to become one of the heroes of the Rebel Alliance. As captain of the Millennium Falcon, Han and his co-pilot Chewbacca came to believe in the cause of galactic freedom, joining Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa in the fight against the Empire.

Today Hot Toys is very excited to officially present the brand new 1/6th scale collectible figure of Han Solo based on the monumental Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi!

The highly-accurate Han Solo collectible figure is skillfully crafted based on his appearance in the movie. It features a stunning head sculpt with great likeness and rotatable eyeballs, finely tailored outfit with a camouflage coat, a blaster, an Endor-themed environmental figure base, and newly sculpted hands with natural details!

This Han Solo 1/6th scale collectible figure will be perfect for any Star Wars™ fans’ collection!

Han Solo comes with his trusty DL-44 blaster and his Endor trench coat allowing you to display the figure either with the coat or in his iconic vest and shirt look. The figure comes with the standard selection of hands to allow for a variety of posing options, with Hot Toys noting that Han’s hands are newly sculpted with more natural details.

The figure also features the newly designed raised base that Hot Toys first introduced with the 40th anniversary Darth Vader and C-3PO, this time with some Endor foliage to match the figure. Honestly, I’m not a fan of this new style of base, especially in this case as it will not match the already released Endor Luke and Leia, but I can’t deny it does look very cool for a single figure display.

The face sculpt itself is arguably Hot Toy’s best Harrison Ford likeness to date. However, I feel that the hair sculpt may need some tweaking to bring the overall likeness up to the level we’ve become accustom to with the recent Ahsoka releases. The very scene specific expression may also not be to some fans’ liking. Hot Toys have previously demonstrated a willingness to take fans’ concerns on board and make changes to their sculpts, most recently with the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi figure from his own series, so I’m optimistic that at least the hair sculpt will be improved  by the time the figure is in our hands.

Han Solo is available to pre-order now at Sideshow Collectibles and other retailers, and is due to be released in Q1 2025/Q2 2025.
