Rosario Dawson Teases ‘Ahsoka’ Season 2 Decision Could Be Made Soon

In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly‘s Dagobah Dispatch podcast, Rosario Dawson spoke at length about her experience on the Ahsoka Disney Plus series.

Among several fun anecdotes from the set, she also confirmed that no movement on a second season had happened before the holidays, when the interview was recorded. However, she teased that Lucasfilm might have been waiting for the New Year to make a decision. She said the following:

“I’m grateful that we have the holidays to go into. Even now with the strike over, there’s no work to be done. Everyone is at that point of ‘Let’s circle back at the end of the year’ kind of thing. And I’m like ‘Oh, thank God.’ Because I need a moment to keep taking this all in and seeing the reaction before I think about jumping into it again. Which I hope we get to.

“We’re supposed to be having a dinner soon of the whole cast. I was very jealous of seeing everyone at some of these cons recently, which I wasn’t able to be at. So I’m looking forward to seeing everyone.”

It’s not exactly clear what she meant in her first statement. Was she told by Dave Filoni & co. that they would be waiting a few months before they start working on a season 2, if it happens at all? It’s not the first time Rosario Dawson slips up when making a public statement that gets the fans excited, so let’s temper our expectations for now. Remember when she reshared a story on Instagram that said Mena Massoud would be playing Ezra, or when she said that Ahsoka would be coming out in the fall, or when she said that a revival of The Punisher was in the works, when it was just another Internet rumor? If we’ve learned anything over the years at Star Wars News Net is to never trust the actors; Rosario Dawson in particular tends to get really excited.

The interview goes on for another 20 minutes, in which she discussed working with Hayden Christensen again and being very happy for him to finally embrace his moment. She said:

“We just had so much fun. Everyone in the crew made an excuse to be on set those days. It brought tears to all of our eyes. I love Hayde, he’s such a wonderful man. I got to know him a little bit when we were younger. I saw a lot of that journey that he went through when he first became a part of the series, and to see the reception he got on Obi-Wan Kenobi and the opportunity he got to be Anakin but Sith Anakin [was wonderful.] We only got to see him become Darth Vader, but we didn’t get to see him sit for that a little bit. It was nice to see him in the Clone Wars clothing.”

Dawson also went on about how the series was just the culmination of years of build-up across many mediums and with so many different people involved:

“All of that stuff, for me as a fan, from bringing Thrawn from the books, these characters from the animation, and now Hayden from the films… It just brought all of the properties together in this incredible way and I was just so happy for him, that he got to express the fullness of his character, him being this teacher. See him be masterful in that way. I don’t know, I just loved it. I loved it for him. I texted him ‘Congratulations.’

The reaction that people got is so deserving. I know he had a much more challenging time originally. So it feels really beautiful that we got to this place where the appreciation and clarity are there of what the whole scope of this universe is and what it has to offer. I think it’s so cool with Andor and The Acolyte coming. There are different textures of it that we can explore with lots of people, but the fact that it’s still something that moves people so much in the way that it does is significant. What George Lucas created with these characters and this story is impactful for generations. And that’s so special, and his character is so pivotal to it.”
