Diego Luna Has Seven Days Left of Filming ‘Andor’ Season 2

At The Emmys, Diego Luna signified that filming on Andor Season 2 is nearly finished. Luna spoke with entertainment outlets on the Red Carpet sharing details about Season 2. He said that he had “seven days” left of filming on the show’s final season.

While the long-awaited second season has been in production for a while, filming of the show had to be postponed due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes of 2023. It seems that production on Andor is now nearly complete. When asked by Variety how many more days worth of shooting he has left, Diego Luna replied with a concrete answer:

“I have seven days. Tomorrow, I am flying back to London and we are finishing this.”

At the end of November, a video posted to Reddit showed a bunch of snowtroopers walking into Pinewood Studios. It was speculated, yet not confirmed that it may be a hint of Andor season 2 being back in production following the end of the strikes. Luna’s comments may hint that this was indeed the case.

Luna was also asked about whether or not he thinks he will appear again in other Star Wars projects. He states he’ll always be “part of the family,” but he shakes his head and casts doubt on any future appearances, pointing to the character’s ultimate fate and the finality of Cassian Andor’s story.

“I’ll be part of it because I’ll always be part of that family. The good thing about Andor is that we know it has an ending. It’s nice to work knowing there’s an ending and you can aim for something.”

Andor was nominated for multiple awards at The Emmys, including “Outstanding Drama Series.” While the show did not win in any of its categories, many other Star Wars projects did get recognized including The Mandalorian and Star Wars: Visions at other Emmy-related celebrations.

Even though filming is nearly complete, it may still be a while till fans get to see Andor Season 2. At the moment, it is not slated to be released in 2024. Currently, the only confirmed Star Wars shows set to debut in 2024 are Skeleton Crew, The Acolyte, Tales of the Jedi Season 2, and The Bad Batch Season 3.
