‘The Mandalorian’ Wins HPA Award for Outstanding Visual Effects for ‘The Marshal’

The Hollywood Professional Association (HPA) held its annual awards ceremony Thursday night at the Hollywood Legion Theater in L.A. The Mandalorian – Chapter 9: The Marshal was nominated for and won Outstanding Visual Effects for an episodic (under 13 episodes) or non-theatrical feature. ILM’s Joe Bauer, Richard Bluff, Abbigail Keller, Hal Hickel,  and Jeff Capogreco were the visual effects artists given this honor.

Here is ILM’s Twitter post, congratulating the winners:

The Mandalorian Season 2 has been gathering award nominations and wins all year round, including an Emmy nomination for Best Drama Series of the year, as well as a DGA nomination for Best Director of a Drama Series (Jon Favreau in The Marshal) and WGA for Best Drama Series. While this is not an Emmy or a DGA/WGA nomination, which already happened for the series earlier in the year, it is still proof that The Mandalorian Season 2 was an absolute win on multiple fronts. Hollywood awards bodies are recognizing the extraordinary accomplishment of the series, especially its visual effects.

You can check out the full list of winners in The Hollywood Reporter‘s article. Congratulations to all!

However, fantasy movies are not his only cup of tea, as movies from Scorsese, Fincher, Kubrick or Hitchcock have been an obsession for him since he started to understand the language of filmmaking. He is that guy who will watch a black and white movie, just because it is in black and white.
