Star Wars: Forces Of Destiny Episode 2 – ‘BB-8 Bandits’ Hits the Web

Just a day after Forces of Destiny made its debut, the second episode has hit the web. In this new video we find out that Rey had to go through even more troubles securing the cute BB unit on Jakku. Check it out…

This time the troublemakers are Teedo and his bandits.

Watching The Force Awakens after these canon shorts will definitely be a very different experience.

Enjoy:

Did you hear the creature scream from Attack of the Clones that they used in this episode? Let us know in the comments below.

Again, this feels like deleted scenes from TFA, therefore I like it.

Yeah, it really does. Also, you can tell that Abrams wasn’t involved. I’m sorry but the dude cannot direct actors to save his life. It is why MI3 I find was a miracle of a movie as the acting was phenomenal, but he was brought on and didn’t have any major role in the creativity department.

But yeah, Ridley was excellent as Rey and I could very much believe the chemistry she had with BB-8 as well as seeing how competent she is. If this is the kind of character we are getting in TLJ, which I trust RJ a lot, then I am sold. One hundred percent.

That’s not his handling of actors. It’s his constant tinkering with story and character development until none of it makes any sense. As a director, he actually handles an ensemble of actors, in this genre anyways, better than anyone I can think of.

The animation still sucks but I always wanted an anthology series with the real actors so maybe if this is a hit then they will expand it ala Clone Wars and a bigger budget too.

It comes across as misandrist for sure, imagine the hate they’d get from the left if Lucasfilm announced they were doing an all male cartoon show. Antifa and the SJWs would come knocking on their door within hours yelling that they were anti-feminist, anti-equality, and that they support misogyny.

You don’t battle equality and fairness by promoting the opposite side and only that side. You battle it by admitting that there were opportunities to be had in the past and now in order to make things more balanced, we will focus on both male and female characters in equal amounts. If it still fits within the context of the story being told, then do it.

So, I’d imagine that Lucasfilm sort of dropped the ball here by not doing both female and male characters but in the end it’s their decision and us as the viewers can either support it or not.

Anyway, it shouldn’t be a competition of who’s side has had it the worst, but people love to play that pity game.

There were decades of Star Wars stuff with male characters and now there are just a few years with female characters and it’s misandrist? That makes zero sense.

Boys and girls can connect with characters of any gender. Girls have done so with Luke and Han and Anakin and Obi-Wan.

Boys can now do it with Rey and Jyn.
This kind of criticism is silly. They ignored female characters for decades. A few films correcting isn’t going to hurt you.

Who ignored females? If a male writer wants to write a piece of fiction, are they required to represent both sexes? What about ethnicity and religion?

Believe it or not, it is OK for men and women to have their own things.

There is no imbalance. (pun intended)

For every male lead movie you name, I can name a female lead movie. For every boy cartoon you can name I can name a girl cartoon.

The problem is is that SJW’s want to keep what is theirs and take what is not. (ghostbusters)

Let’s take Marvel comics for example. SJW’s bitched because a specific race or gender was not represented in a book. Not because there was a market demand for these books, no. Just because it was a white male, and they wanted to change that. So Marvel, being the cowards that they are, changed the sex and gender of their most popular characters, and no one is buying these books.

So the end result is alienating their core demographic and selling a book no one wants to buy.

We are talking about Star Wars, specifically protagonists in Star Wars movies. Luke and Anakin.

So Star Wars ignored females, in that context.

“If a male writer wants to write a piece of fiction, are they required to represent both sexes? What about ethnicity and religion?”

No one is required to do anything. That’s a ridiculous assertion. No one is saying anyone SHOULD be required to do anything. A statement looking for an argument.

“There is no imbalance.” Not anymore there isn’t.

“The problem is is that SJW’s want to keep what is theirs and take what is not.”

This is so juvenile that I can barely believe a literate person typed it out. Ghostbusters doesn’t belong to men. I think the female Ghostbusters was awful, but that doesn’t mean it’s my property and no one else besides white men can touch it. Is this how your mind really works?

As for the Marvel example, we are talking about Star Wars, remember? And people seem to be buying it just fine, aside from some whiny men who cry when the hero doesn’t look exactly like them.

I often get annoyed with SJW but people like you are just as bad.

I never contradict myself, thank you.
I can ignore your response, for example, as it was not required for me to respond.
Star Wars had male leads for 6 movies. Which is fine, there is nothing wrong with that.

But now we have 2 movies with female leads. Are males being ignored?

You aren’t required to do anything when making art, but that doesn’t mean that everything will always be served equally. Which, again, is fine. Which is why I don’t understand why female leads threaten you so much.

          • July 6, 2017 at 8:29 pm
            Permalink

That’s exactly what you’re saying though. You said, here in this very comment section, that by featuring women leads in literally every piece of media that’s been released since the acquisition, Star Wars was ‘correcting’. Meaning there was something wrong with it for having had male leads so far which needed ‘correcting’. Which is completely contradictory to that OTHER thing you want to state, which is that it’s fine for any piece of art to not worry about equal representation. You are trying to suck and blow at the same time.

          • July 6, 2017 at 9:05 pm
            Permalink

That’s not what I am saying. They are “correcting” what they see as something that was underserved. It’s not required, though. No one says that except these manbabies who freak out when a male isn’t the lead.

It is TOTALLY fine for an artist to do what they want in terms of representation.

It is TOTALLY fine for an artist to include or not include. And these artists are CHOOSING to include. This isn’t difficult to understand.
The people who run Star Wars decided this is something they want to do. You don’t have to agree, but them deciding that doesn’t mean it is a requirement still.

To clarify, I have no issue with the fact that they decided to make a show for the young female viewers as a target audience. Star Wars, at least in my opinion, was initially targeted at young boys, but has now grown to be a fictional universe for all ages, races, religions, and sexes.

I don’t have a problem with what they are doing but the reason why they are doing it. Their reasons for making this show is because they are basically saying “There aren’t enough female characters in Star Wars, and there aren’t enough times we see the women characters on screen so we decided to make a show specifically for females because of that reason.” I think that’s a wrong reason to make a show personally, I would acknowledge the exact same reasoning if Kathleen Kennedy said “We are making a show targeted specifically at male viewers because there isn’t enough Star Wars with male characters.”

If KK said we are developing these shorts for women right now, and we will also be developing episodes for males too. Then problem solved, the balance was kept and there’s no political reason involved.

I just don’t agree with the idea that in order to make something balanced we have to punish one side, single out a side, or segregate sides in order to make it balanced. Once again that comes back to the pity party game, where now we are arguing who has had it the worst and why we should care.

Person A: “There isn’t enough Star Wars material for girls!”

Person B: “Well, it was initially targeted for young boys!”

Person A: “True, but now it’s for everybody!”

Person A: “True, so why are we choosing to segregate audiences and fans by having separate shows for separate sexes?”

Person B: “Because there isn’t enough Star Wars material for girls!”

Person A: “But Star Wars is for everybody which includes girls!”

Person B: “But we need more Star Wars material for girls because there isn’t enough yet.”

Person A: “There’s been 8 films released, soon to be 10, that will have had both male and female characters, six with male leads and two with female leads, counting the unreleased films seven with male leads and four with female leads. I think you just want there to be more Star Wars material with female leads.”

            Person B: “Exactly!”

Person A: “I give up, it shouldn’t matter!”

Person B: “Oh, but it does.”

            Person A: “Whatever…”

Except the show isn’t specifically for females. It’s for everyone. All Star Wars is made for everyone. It just happens to focus on the female leads.

And you don’t like reasons they did it, that’s fine. But that doesn’t make it misandrist or sexist anymore than a black filmmaker making a movie about black people would be racist against white people. or Asians. Or any race they didn’t depict.

If having females as the focus means that it is not for males, then what does having males as the focus mean?

You are the one making it political with your need for balance. Suddenly, we need to be equal, except decades of Star Wars content was not equal, but…hey, men were in it so who cares? That makes no sense.
How, explain how, please, for the love of GOD…does this “punish” anyone? Seriously? WTF.
Your whole premise is illogical and wrong.

And I saw in your previous comment something about “antifa”, which stands for anti-fascists…you know Star Wars is anti-fascist, right?

Yes, because hitting other citizens over the head with bike locks, setting fire to your own town, and arguing that it’s fine to punch ‘Nazis’, then just magically branding anyone who disagrees with you in any way a ‘Nazi’ so, you know, it’s totally okay to punch them in a childish tantrum of circular logic (QED), is totally the same thing.

Ahsoka, Mara Jade and Rey are 3 of my favorite Star Wars characters of all time. They had a purpose and written in as awesome characters organically. Not because of their race or sex or sexual orientation.

The SJW’s are fighting a losing fight. Marvel comics is proving that now. Ghostbusters proved that.

While not as interesting as the first episode, man this was really good. I again love how the used Teedo who was originally after BB-8. Nice use of continuity and while a bit less clever, still works. And that speeder chase, I loved it.

Really nice background design, and the simplistic art style works well in animation(there is a big difference between the two, terms). And I also loved the intelligence of using the junk eater creature from last episode.

Excellent use of continuity and this to me better fleshes out Rey as a competent fighter/ thinker than most of TFA. So yeah, I really loved that bit. Also, Ridley was excellent in the role as always. So yeah, not as good as the first episode, but still very solid.

Score: 75% Overall, good work on LF’s part and for making me see a different side to Rey. A cooler one in my view. 🙂

God this is terrible. To think that this rubbish is canon is severely disappointing. Teedo now has a speeder biker clan? He has a huge cannon-like blaster, when he didn’t have a weapon more than a net to catch BB-8 before? There is an action set-piece staged in the small gap of time just getting BB-8 to the outpost? This is beyond stupid.

I love these. Really like how this one tied into the first one with the sand creature. I also really liked seeing more Teedo. He was kinda lame in TFA. I wished they had done better with that Lugga-beast thing. It was pretty clunky. I bet they use Zuvio in one of these Rey skits. Shorts are great for using some of the stuff that got missed in the films. Can’t wait to see what they offer in the Jyn stories.
