Maybe rouge one is a movie where Ashoka is the lead.

Nope. They repeatedly say they there will not be Jedi involved to save the day. It’s about what normal people have to do in the face of a massive threat when there are no heroes to lead them.

She could make a cameo away from the actual plot, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Well everytime we think we know the number of Jedis that survived Order 66 there’s a new tv show, comic, videogame or whatever featuring a new one, who knows! But yes, Edwards said “It comes down to a group of people who don’t have magical powers who band together to bring hope to the galaxy.”

But seeing real Ashoka being Killed by Vader would be such a dramatic move, and I think Ashoka deserves being in a live action adventure.

One could argue it’s still possible because she isn’t a Jedi. But I’m guessing they meant no Force-users (on the side of the good guys anyways.)

With all the talk of an Obi-Wan trilogy, he’s incredibly popular after all … does anyone think Ahsoka’s popularity might get her her own film or series?

Not sure why this just occurred to me, but seeing Ahsoka there, it struck my that SW characters are very much defined by their costumes, as much as their faces/species/personality. And then I thought, I wonder if they do wear casual clothes sometimes? Does Ahsoka slip on some PJs at night after a hard days battle? Does darth vader wear a nightcap and gown whilst he’s propped up in bed drinking his cocoa through a straw? Does Leia have bad days where she can’t be arsed and just wears tracky bottoms and a baggy T-shirt? Alternatively, if they stay in the same clothes all the time, don’t they all stink to high heaven? No wonder the Jedi don’t form attachments.

If they did that, then the we the simple audience would have no way of telling it apart from Guardians of the [other] Galaxy…

      …seriously, things would get confusing…

      As far as Rogue One:

the purpose of this film will [should] be to demonstrate just how “Hope”less the Rebellion is, hence the ominous Cloverfield-esque teaser.
To have a Jedi with shining lightsaber to save the day would totally negate the “we need the Jedi Order back” message of ANH.
Prepare for some hardcore battles getting kicked in the balls.
This film should show the darkest part of the “dark times”, with “crawling up Satan’s bottom” somewhere in the formula…

@ Ren Skywalker son of Luke

NO no no no no no no! I genuinely believe not a single Rebels character will appear in Rogue One. Maybe a small audible cameo. Perhaps like Kanan’s voice over a radio etc but nothing visual.

I don’t even think Ashoka will last outside of Rebels. I think she’ll die in Season 2 or 3. Perhaps sacrificing herself for Ezra, Kanan and the crew

You should rephrase to “I really hope” because I think you are wrong. Being one who has kept up with almost everything that has come out, I have what will apparently be BAD news for you, although I am relishing in every second of it: the connective tissue between PT, CW, Rebels , and OT is GROWING. You are probably one of those that live in the “JJ and KK are getting away from the PT” crowd. Get real, dude.

tbh this kinda “ruins” Rebels for me. I never liked the Clone Wars series. I get that they have to please the younger audiences as well, but surprisingly enough I liked Rebel. I can’t be the only one who doesn’t want to see all those Clone Wars characters reappearing. I’d rather watch a Gungan Holiday Special..

I wonder if Ashoka is a character device for Vader. Vader killing her would seal the perception that Anakin is dead, even though we know he is not but it will take some time to resurrect him. Ashoka’s death at the hands of Vader would add a very strong dramatic element that this series needs to bring the serious threat of the Empire.

They have to kill her off, presumably by Vader, but how they’ll handle it is anyone’s guess.. So many young female fans are going to rage lol

Not just female. She’s a great character, and her strength of character in choosing to leave the Order (which spared her from Order 66) is one of the best things about TCW. I would be very disappointed to see her brought back just to be sacrificed as character-building fodder for Vader.

  • June 5, 2015 at 4:15 pm

Any confrontation between Ahsoka and Vader cannot end well for her. Perhaps this is a sign that they’re going to move Rebels away from the painfully juvenile vibe of the first season and toward something a little closer to what we saw in later seasons of TCW.

Because I just can’t see them reconciling what I assume will be a rather violent and dramatic death for Ahsoka with the rather bland “goofy sitcom family” thing they based season 1 around.

I think Aoskah won’t die this season but I think as the series finale in a couple of years is when it will happen. They said they only have 3-4 seasons of Rebels planned before they start a new animated show set in the current time line. It is about time Star Wars stops trying to fill the past and concentrate on the present and future.

So now we have 3 Jedi in the rebel alliance? Gosh, Luke yoda and a Obi-wan should have just taken a vacation and Ezra could have blown up the Death Star. He’s already doing more with the force than Luke in ESB. They are awesome stories, but it’s awkward to mesh with the OT. This is my only problem with All the books and shows being canon, particularly prequels since we know the endgame. All these Jedi characters have to die/turn evil/go far away to avoid plot holes. When Luke was training after the death of his mentor I would hope that it wouldn’t just slip everyone’s mind to let Luke know about all the force-wielding allies he has? Either there is going to be a lot of deaths in this show or they should re-title Star Wars episode IV: “an additional hope”.

    • June 5, 2015 at 6:40 pm
      Permalink

So was Luke the “only hope” because he was force sensitive/training to be a Jedi, or because he was the last Jedi, or was it because he was a Jedi who was also Darth Vader’s son and thus had a way to sway Darth Vader in a way one else could (other than Leia).

      • June 5, 2015 at 8:25 pm

Yeah i think Luke being the son of Vader puts him in a great position to defeat Vader because he share the same power with his father.

i ve always seen the ” A new hope ” title more like an other chance than the only chance. So it’s sure they will all die before Luke’s journey begins

    • June 5, 2015 at 10:18 pm
      Permalink

I’m sure this has been suggested before, but it’s possible that at least one of these three Force-users will survive Rebels only to be killed off in Rogue One (since it is apparently going to be more of a dark, gritty war movie after all).

  • June 5, 2015 at 5:36 pm
    Permalink

What they are really thinking and wishing is that they could just reboot the OT and have Ahsoka take Luke Skywalker’s place and with the way Disney is going they might just do it.

    • June 5, 2015 at 8:09 pm

I would hope that Disney would have the good sense not to mess with the OT after seeing the fan backlash from when Lucas himself was doing just that.

In Jedi, Yoda told Luke: “When gone am I, the last of the Jedi will you be.” So we know that none of the Jedi will survive.

I think Ashoka will be the one to tell Kenobi and Yoda who Vader is. They have to find out from someone and it seems unlikely they will find out from Vader or Palpatine. Ashoka has to tell them who he is and then, most likely, confront him and lose. The other thing I could see, is Vader “turning” Ashoka and them trying to take down Palp together only for Palp to kill her and put Vader in his place. Seems unlikely given the events of the Vader comics as Luke seems to be the thing to drive Vader towards overthrowing Palp, but anything is possible.

Not necessarily about Ashoka being the blabber mouth. Yoda reminded Obi-Wan that he had been watching Luke for a long time before the ever met. This clearly indicated that Yoda had a power to observe people from far away. If he could watch Luke grow up on Tatooine from Dagobah, he could just as likely see through the mask of Darth Vader.

But then just as likely they could say, “Ah, but the Dark Side clouds everything.” In other words the force is like a faucet: It gets turned on and off as the writers find convenient. My point is it could just as easily be that both Yoda and Obi-Wan knew through a vision in the force if the writers choose to go that route.

The Jedi are to blame for most of the crap..they are so rigid and massage the truth…luke was the last hope because he had an in with Vader and the Emperor and could possibly fight them on their level
