Mark Hamill and Daisy Ridley Reveal New “Force For Change” Initiative on GMA

Good Morning America just debuted the new “Force For Change” initiative with Mark Hamill and Daisy Ridley telling fans about some seriously cool prizes in store for some lucky fans who contribute to the fundraiser. Star Wars “Force For Change” is partnering once again with Omaze to support Unicef and Starlight Children’s foundation. So far, the initiative has raised over $9 million for charities like these, and now you have a chance to join with them and win 3 epic prizes. Read on for details on these prizes and how you can get involved.

To enter, visit (www.omaze.com/starwars) and follow the instructions there.

If you are unable to watch the video above, here’s a recap of the prizes in store…

1. Spend the night at Skywalker Ranch

You and a friend get a VIP tour of the ranch and the Star Wars Archives, a night’s stay at the Skywalker Inn on the grounds, a private screening of Star Wars: A New Hope and more!

2. Visit the set of the upcoming Han Solo movie and have a chance to appear in the film

You and a friend get a VIP tour of the set to see costumes, props and sets. You also get a chance to appear in the movie and a meeting with the movie’s directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller!

3. Join forces with the cast at the premiere of Star Wars: The Last Jedi

You and a friend can join the cast of The Last Jedi and attend the exclusive star-studded after party. Walk the red carpet with the stars and be one of the first fans to see the movie!

These prizes are really awesome and a few lucky Star Wars fans are in for a real treat. I admit I’m a little disappointed that after yesterday’s tease about an “announcement 40 years in the making”, that this is all the info we got out of the GMA bit. However, “Force For Change” is a great initiative and Celebration is only a few days away, so the disappointment won’t last long!

Yeah it was funny, even though it was total lie. Of course she has been there. Every actor has to go there for post prod work. ADR, getting their body and face scanned, random pick up crap, photo shoots

True. Same with these 10 second teasers the teaser nowadays. Goes to show nothing’s too crazy nowadays.

Though the FfC initiative itself is great of course. Too bad you can only use a credit card or paypal.

It truly is a terrible thing. How is it 40 years in the making? We had a Force for Change 2 years ago.

It could have at very least been one of the 15 second teaser of the teaser trailer for Last Jedi. Usually I hate announcment trailers for traliers but it would have fit in with the whole “40 years in the making” as technically Ep8 is 40 years since ANH primered.

Yeah, right. Because, in your world, contraception is 100% effective, constantly available and side effects free. Also, your camp tries to limit other people’s freedom of choice, and is so obsessed with this thing that you keep bringing it up in a SW comment section AND, all this considered, you call *other* people “dumb”?

            Are you even serious?

Condoms are 98% effective when used correctly. They are widely available in grocery stores, department stores, gas stations, etc. throughout the US and most of the rest of the world. And there are no side effects to using a condom. The best part? You don’t have to kill babies to prevent those icky children from entering your life.

I thought some religions viewed the use of condoms as wrong, as the act of sex is all about procreation and not enjoyment. So using a condom is denying the chance for procreation.

I’m not aware of any, but I’m sure there are some. What does that have to do with you, though? If you don’t want to have a baby, use a condom. What does some hypothetical religion have to do with it?

          • April 12, 2017 at 1:27 am

I agree religion shouldn’t have an influence, not being religious myself. However, in some cultures its not as easy to turn your back on religion, because in doing so and being found out results in forms of punishments. If you think it doesn’t happen, even in the west, you’ve not been viewing the wider world in all its horrid glory.

Don’t you understand that in some cultures you could get beaten for using contraception? Some people simply don’t have the choices we take for granted.

Take this example from a BBC page:

“But more conservative Islamic leaders have openly campaigned against the use of condoms or other birth control methods, thus making population planning in many countries ineffective”

So…you don’t think they’d get beaten/killed for having an abortion?

I’m well aware that finding a back street abortion clinic would be just as dangerous. My point that you seem to be missing is that its not as black and white a choice as you think it is.

Then on the nastier side of life, what about women that are raped. Do you think the rapist is planning on having a pack of condoms on them just in case they get ‘lucky’?

          • April 12, 2017 at 1:48 am
            Permalink

How is it not “black and white”? Killing babies is wrong. Don’t kill babies. It’s that simple. I think you would agree with me that you shouldn’t kill adults. Why can’t you extend that simple logic to babies?

            So your ok with rape?

          • April 12, 2017 at 1:59 am
            Permalink

You are making all kinds of logical leaps. When did I say rape was okay?

As to your second paragraph, you completely dodged my question. How is killing innocent adults wrong, but killing innocent children is not?

          • April 12, 2017 at 2:02 am
            Permalink

Well obviously a rapist isn’t going to consider a condom, so what choice does the woman have if she becomes pregnant?

No I said killing adults is wrong, but sometimes required.

          • April 12, 2017 at 2:07 am
            Permalink

Right, but the abortion itself doesn’t prevent the rape. Also, adoption is a completely viable option for rape victims. And rape-induced-pregnancies are such a low proportion of abortions that it hardly bears mentioning in this debate.

          • April 12, 2017 at 2:10 am
            Permalink

You also didn’t say innocent adults originally.

Thankfully I agree its a very low percentage, but the woman should have the choice. Its her body and the mental anguish of having to carry full term your rapist’s child has to be mind-boggling. For that reason it has every right to be mentioned, just as the stupidity of some religions.

          • April 12, 2017 at 2:13 am
            Permalink

You’re muddling arguments. You’re the only one who has brought up religion here. Let’s get back to the abortion debate and leave religion out of it.

How about I just grant you the rape case and say we can compromise and agree the woman should be allowed to abort her rapist’s child. Let’s set that aside and get back to the meat and potatoes of the argument.

Why should a woman have a choice to kill her child? And why doesn’t that choice extend beyond birth?

          • April 12, 2017 at 2:22 am
            Permalink

The choice to kill her child doesn’t extend to birth. At least not in the UK. The baby has rights before its born, but those rights come into play at the point science and government agree the baby becomes self-aware I believe.

I’m not muddling arguments, the point of religion that I raised is that the choice to use condoms is not as easy as you think. Also the view to them being so readily available across the world is not accurate, you need to travel more if you believe that.

          • April 12, 2017 at 2:23 am
            Permalink

You’ve stated what UK law is, but you haven’t answered the question. Why doesn’t the choice extend all the way to birth? If self-awareness is the line in the sand, then why can’t we kill our mentally deficient children?

I know that contraception is not widely available in certain parts of the world. But it is in most of the world.

          • April 12, 2017 at 2:31 am
            Permalink

I wasn’t sure, you seemed to imply they were so readily available that people were stupid for not using them.

          • April 12, 2017 at 2:36 am
            Permalink

I was mainly talking about the West, where contraception is both legal and easily available. I wasn’t implying people were stupid for not using contraception. I was implying that contraception is the point at which children should be prevented. Once they are conceived, it’s too late to go back. You have created human life. Human life has rights under the law. Killing babies should not be a legal option.

Ok – its just that you said most of the rest of the world.

In my view killing babies should always be a last resort, all options should be explored. However, in some situations I respect the hard choices that others must make.

Alright, what about a couple who felt like having unprotected sex, got pregnant, and didn’t want the child, should they be allowed to get an abortion?

I’d say no, but I’m curious of your opinion.

          • April 12, 2017 at 2:56 am
            Permalink

I believe the couple should be swayed as much as possible not to have an abortion, and I believe that it what happens in the UK. We also have a law that says when abortion is no longer an option, due to science that suggests when the foetus becomes self-aware.

A lot of factors are involved, age of couple, state of relationship, etc, but even if it was all ok as much as I would disagree with their choice I would respect the law of the land.

          • April 12, 2017 at 9:49 am
            Permalink

I’m very sorry for you, but having an abortion does not qualify as “killing”: not legally, not morally and not even objectively. The fact that YOU (and a vocal bunch of other kooks) call it “killing” does not make it so.

Also: there was a time when abortion wasn’t legal. People did it all the same, just without precautions and, often times, even without the help of someone medically competent (with the obvious results).

So, please, feel free to keep ignoring reality and call it murder as muc as you like: women will keep making their rightful choice, and people like you will keep being irrelevant 😉

That’s the logical conclusion of your argument, though. You said that a fetus is not a baby. Why? You mentioned it not looking like a baby as part of your reason. Is that your reason? How is a human fetus not human?

          • April 12, 2017 at 2:16 am

Out of interest do you know when a foetus becomes self-aware?

In terms of DNA, I would jump to the conclusion you do not eat meat or plants. These are all living creatures with DNA.

          • April 12, 2017 at 2:21 am
            Permalink

I do not know when a fetus becomes self-aware. I’m not sure anyone does. Even if we did, how does that change my argument? I am arguing that human life should be protected under the law. Whether or not that human life is self-aware or not is irrelevant to my argument. If it were, we could extend abortion rights to the mentally deficient. Is that what you are advocating?

As to your second paragraph, the food I eat does not have human DNA. There’s the difference.

          • April 12, 2017 at 2:29 am

Human life is protected under law……the laws govern to when the foetus is classed as having rights over that of the mother. I don’t understand you question on the mentally deficient, as you label those with a disability. Are you saying they shouldn’t choices in anything due to their disabilities?

So only human life is important to you? You deem humans as more important than other lifeforms.

Human life is more important to me than other forms of life, but that’s not important to my argument.

Here is the axiom that I think both of us agree with: intentionally killing innocent human life should be illegal. The rest of my arguments flow logically from that axiom.

It’s nice to see Star Wars being involved in good causes like this, but it still does not justify misleading/fale advertising people into watching crappy TV shows only to deliver an incredibly anti-climactic ending.

American television is one of the biggest cesspools of the planet. I could barely sit though one hour with the constant ads and popups…

Don’t disagree with the sentiment one bit, but who do you think pitched this to who? Lucas film/Disney is equally culpable here for a pretty nasty bait and switch which they only really avoid bad press for because nobody in their right mind in the mainstream media is going to call them out for announcing a charitable good cause even if they tricked everyone into watching it.

That’s a victim’s attitude. Nobody forced you to watch this show. Nobody forced anybody to watch this show. And not once did GMA suggest that a trailer was going to be shown. That was something people pretty much started running with on their own.

“American television is one of the biggest cesspools of the planet. I could barely sit through one hour with the constant ads and popups…”

If you think other countries don’t show ads, you’re fooling yourself. Much like music, film, literature or any other vehicle for storytelling, American television is what you make of it. There is great stuff. There is good stuff. There is trash.

Nobody forced you to watch GMA, you got your hopes up based on the Big Announcement for the 40th Anniversary of Star Wars. That could be anything, and it wasn’t what you expected so you are upset and blaming American corporations for your disappointment.

In fact, I don’t understand how you got duped into thinking there would be a teaser or trailer for Star Wars TLJ reveled on GMA because we all know that there Star Wars Celebration is a couple days away and they would leave all of their big reveals and surprises for that event.

I’m sorry you got your hopes up too high, but you can wait a few more days, don’t blame other people, businesses, corporations, or countries for your own disappointments.

I was 100% sure we won’t get anything like a trailer right before SCO, but I was still curious what could be that “Big Announcement”. I personally was hoping for an unaltered OT release, since that is a logical assumption based on a statement like “40 years in the making”.
