UPDATE 3! Carrie Fisher in Stable Condition After Reportedly Suffering Massive Heart Attack
Our hearts are heavy at the moment as reports have come in that Carrie Fisher suffered a massive heart attack earlier today on a flight from London to L.A. and is currently in critical condition.
From LA Times:
Star Wars” actress Carrie Fisher was in critical condition Friday after suffering a “cardiac episode” during a flight from London to Los Angeles, according to emergency officials. Fisher, 60, was rushed to the hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics shortly after noon, after her flight touched down at LAX.
A source who was not authorized to discuss the incident said the actress was “in a lot of distress on the flight.” A statement released by United Airlines said that medical personnel met flight 935 from London upon arrival after the crew reported a passenger was unresponsive.
According to the LAX Police Department, officers responded to Terminal 7 around 12:15 p.m., for a call of a female passenger in cardiac arrest. Upon arriving, they found paramedics performing CPR on the victim, according to Officer Alicia Hernandez.
We are asking our readers to send out their thoughts and prayers for Fisher and her family in this difficult time. We will update this article when we know more.
UPDATE!
Carrie Fisher’s brother told the Associated Press that Carrie is in stable condition. Let’s hope for the best:
Todd Fisher told The Associated Press on Friday night that his sister was receiving excellent care, but said that he could not classify her condition. He had earlier told the AP that she had been stabilized and was out of the emergency room.
We hope to get something more concrete in the coming hours. Hang on there Princess…
UPDATE 2!
ET Canada reports that Fisher’s brother never said the word “stabilized” as the AP quoted him. Here’s what he said:
“I don’t know where they got that word from. That is absolutely not even close to the truth. We don’t know. We hope for the best. We certainly do not know her condition, that’s why she is in ICU. I’m sure everyone wants to speculate but now is not the time for that.”
UPDATE 3!
We are still waiting for more specific details on Carrie’s condition. The latest update came from Carrie’s mother Debbie Reynolds:
Carrie is in stable condition. If there is a change,we will share it. For all her fans & friends. I thank you for your prayers & good wishes. pic.twitter.com/isXJqqFEB6

prayers.and hope.
Oh god. This year. All my hopes x
Fuck you 2016, don’t you dare take Carrie Fisher away from us.
Sending love to our Princess.
Oh God please let her be ok! Hope you get through this Carrie, we love you!
Man… this… has shaken more than I expected. I hope she knows how loved she truly is.
Sad news, hope she recovers!
Hoping for a speedy recovery.
Carrie IS SW 🙁 Can’t wait for 2016 to be over
This has become a horrible year…
I really wish her a speedy recovery; shocking to hear this. 🙁
Horrible news. Get well soon.
Come on Carrie/Leia pull through, You can do this, From every Star Wars fan around the globe, we love you. May The Force Be With You.
Things really don’t look good – she stopped breathing for 10 minutes. The only upside is these days medical technology can work miracles, and I’m really praying for one. Sending extra midichlorians her way.
Where did you read that? If true….well, I really, really don’t want to think about if that’s true.
TMZ was the one reporting.
Let’s hope that’s not accurate.
As well, that if it’s true, most of those 10min she was receiving CPR.
Jesus…10 minutes though….if that’s true…k, nope, nope, nope – just decided that until further notice TMZ got that wrong.
Yeah, just read TMZ & their *update* says:
—–
We’re told when the plane landed paramedics worked on Carrie for
15 minutes with CPR before they were able to get a pulse. She’s
currently at UCLA Medical Center on a ventilator.
—–
Sounds almost like the minutes mentioned were *after* landing.
Ugh!
I’m with you – let’s assume it’s not accurate.
They did get a pulse back.
Hoping for the best!
It is true, and in several reports. Also, she is on a ventilator now. Really not good. I’m not saying to be negative, just be prepared.
I have been an EMT for over 20 years. The fact that they got a pulse back is huge. While a doctor or an Emergency Room will do all the heavy lifting, it is all about high quality CPR to preserve the brain. Latest studies suggest that the brain can die in as little as 4 to 6 minutes if no one provides chest compressions. It sounds like the volunteers on the plane kicked ass.
I hope so, I also know that a lot of Doctors say they wouldn’t want CPR or fibulators used on themselves because of how they see people recover from it, some even get “no code” tatoo on their chest to prevent it from happening. This is awful, a sad day for Star Wars / Carrie Fisher fans 🙁
I understand the point those doctors are trying to make. That is when you are brought back after being pulseless for several minutes. You have lost brain cells at that point and are a borderline vegetable. This, at least, sounds different. It sounds like they started CPR almost immediately. If that is the case, they preserved the brain and forced circulation before there was any damage. At least, that is what I am praying for.
Not to get too technical but you can only perform ‘hands only’ or ‘compression only’ CPR for around 10 minutes. After that, you are just circulated non-oxygenated blood. I am assuming an commercial airplane had barrier device or mask on board and they were hopefully able to provide standard CPR w/ breaths.
TY for the info, makes perfect sense
Yeah I saw an EMT perform compressions on a guy for around 6 minutes at a marathon I was running in. Guy dropped right there at the finish line. They got a pulse and the doctors worked their magic and a miracle happened. Can only pray this happens again for our princess.
Really hope she pulls through this.
Carrie’s one of the best!
Hoping for the best & sending good/healing thoughts for her.

Well fuck. That was unexpected. I hope she’s going to be alright.
Terrible news, I hope she gets well soon
id knock the whole acting thing on the head for a bit if i was her , rather her have a few more years than be in a film

While we’re waiting for more updates & wishing her & her family well ….Here’s a sweet pic of Carrier & her brother, Todd, as babies w/mom Debbie Reynolds:

Thank Goodness! She survived the odds just like Ford did. Miracles do happen. 🙂
She is still on ventilator so she is not out of the woods just yet but improvement is always good news
Yeah, Hopefully, she can recover well; I wish her family luck.
Thank you for the update!!!
Christmas Miracle!!!!! Thank God!
No, thank the EMTs and doctors who treated her.
They are miracles too….. But if you think that’s all that matters…. no point in sending her well wishes!!!
Carrie’s not religious, so why do you feel the need to push your beliefs into this? “Good wishes” amounts to the same thing as your “prayers.”
Dude. You need to calm down. I’m not religious or anything, but you’re obviously stretching an innocent comment.
Thank you real life heroes who saved her life.
My thoughts and prayers go out to her and her family. You can do it Carrie we all love and care for you
AP is saying she’s stable http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/people/2016/12/23/carrie-fisher-heart-attack/95806310/
May the Force be with you, Carrie.
Please be OK.
Such bad news–hoping for the best possible recovery for Carrie.
🙁 please get well, ms. fisher.
OMG so shocking and sad. I just finished watching A New Hope and found this news on facebook 🙁
This isn’t happening. I’m gonna wake up soon and all this will go away.
Trump Presidency…. ISIS attacks… And now Carrie Fisher…. What did we do to disserve this…. Did we piss of the alien deities???
Please don’t bring your do-gooder mentality to a star wars website and pretend Trump is the reincarnation of Darth Vader. Last time i checked 50% of the USA voted for him. Like Poetin said: “accept your loss with some dignity”. Keep politics out of star wars please!
Re: ” Last time i checked 50% of the USA voted for him”
Wow, where do you get your news from?
Try checking more sources.
US population is somewhere around 320M.
Trump go like 45.9% of the vote.
Hillary received more.
Something like ~9M for other candidates.
BREAKING NEWS: Politics have always been a part of Star Wars. Star Wars is pretty explicitly anti-Nazi, which also happens to make it explicitly anti-Trump, coincidentally enough.
There is a problem with your brain
Buddy, if you voted for a racist, misogynist, serial sexual abuser GAME SHOW HOST for president, you’re the one whose head should be examined.
Damn. You can’t stop bringing politics to this website. Use twitter to ventilate your hate for Trump. By do-gooder standards anything is racist. During ww2 Hitler was racist. Nowadays everyone on the right of the political spectrum is. Fuck mainstream media (like Clinton News Network) and the image they portraited of Trump. I despise do-gooder morals. I am no US citizen but if i was i voted Trump and let me tell you that i am no racist. Last words on this matter.
This is terribles news..I hope our princess makes a speedy recovery.
May the force be with her
She is one with the Force. The Force is with her.
Truly shocking news, hope she will be ok. Heart attacks are extreemly scary.
Please God! Let her pull through this!
I hard she got out of emergency…… Keep those prayers coming!!
Thanks, Hard Case, for the report. Prayers go out to the Fisher family.
It is not time yet, Ms. Fisher, to forever sleep.
When you die do you sleep?
People always talk like that’s the case, but it’s nothing like that unless you’re really lucky. The body struggles to keep going until the bitter end.
There’s no good way to die.
At least not normally
Re: “There’s no good way to die’
Massive (/near instantaneous) heart attack while experiencing an orgasm with your significant other?
Best I can imagine. 😉
Although, I’d question the *goodness* for the surviving partner.
That’s what Yoda says.
Did he say it as a question, or a statement…. Merry Christmas everyone….
no you don’t, 2016. you are not taking leia away, too. god speed, carrie.
Carrie, DON’T you dare die on us!!
You do not really have a say in that…. Pray that’s what I would do…. At lest stay around episode 8…. Like she is 60… Remember kids don’t do drugs…. It takes years off of ya!
Right, because praying solves everything. /s. I’ll send good wishes her way, it amounts to the same thing.
Why send her good wishes if something dose not carry it too her???
They’re the same thing. There’s nothing carrying your “prayers” either, but at least my “good wishes” don’t push a religious agenda into the situation.
word? is this really the conversation we wanna have right now? suggestion: wish ms. fisher well in whatever respectful manner befits you, and let others do the same.
Considering that Carrie isn’t a religious person, I find it disrespectful to push that particular brand of well-wishing at this time. Plus, why not have the conversation now? We’re all waiting to hear some news, and I find it far better to engage in discourse in times like this than to silently talk to our imaginary friends.
Agreed.
Onimi…In other words I say again… Why wish her well if you believe she is not going to get it. Your just getting yourself deeper and deeper into something you can’t get out of…. You might as well stop.
What a shitty thing to say.
Why? Carrie’s not religious, so I find it offensive that people would push their beliefs in her time of need. “Good wishes” is a hell of a lot better than “praying.”
Why should people PRAY? Maybe because that’s exactly what her BROTHER said people should do. Here’s his exact quote: “She’s obviously a very tough girl who’s survived many things,” Todd said to KABC-TV. “I encourage everyone to pray for her.” Got it? Actual people in the real world believe the things you personally can’t bring yourself to believe. Grow up, and you may find that saying a prayer isn’t the same as garlic to a vampire. It may actually save your life one day.
Re: “what her BROTHER said people should do”
If her brother said to jump off a cliff …would you do it?! 😉
j/k aside… people should just allow others to express their “well wishes” the same way.
Praying –
Yeah, I have issues with this sentiment…particularly when it leads to “our prayers were answered”. So if Carrie doesn’t make it/is severely affected, your prayers *weren’t* answered? Not enough prayed? Didn’t pray *hard* enough?
You think *god* is waiting to decide on how Carrie is affected by this….dependent on what thoughts you hold in your head? That can sound very arrogant to someone who doesn’t believe in *praying*.
If prayers aren’t answered then it’s all “God moves in mysterious ways”
OK snowflake, the mother said prayers first. That’s what she meant. She said thanks for the good wishes to satisfy the douche bags like you who refuse to pray.
OK snowsludge,
I realize you have some reading comprehension issues going here. Maybe English isn’t your 1st language? Order doesn’t matter. There’s an AND – it’s equiv.
Sorry snowdrift.
Re: “douche bags like you who refuse to pray”
You don’t know whether I pray or not.
Hint: If I did… it would be something along the lines of:
“Jesus, please protect me from your believers! Particularly the ones who think they’re being high & mightier than thou & using Christ-like slurs calling people douche bags ….coz they’re the absolute WORST, offending God the most! Amen!”
She is out of the hospital!!! How’s that for a Christmas miracle starwars fans!
Where did you hear / read this?
She’s not out of the hospital, she’s just out of the emergency room. Last we heard, she’s been moved to the intensive care unit.
– Pomojema
Re: “a Christmas miracle”
I’d not call being in the ICU in an undetermined state a miracle.
Prayers, good thoughts, and tons of love to Carrie and her family!
This was on the news tonight in Australia. The reporter said that Carrie has improved.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQ6WPo-oW5Q
If the worst should happen to Carrie with Rogue One still in theaters, the last minute of the movie would suddenly become very hard to watch. I imagine devoted fans bursting into tears.
My thoughts are with Carrie Fisher and her family at this distressing time.
I know this is a selfish thing to say but I hope this doesn’t impact Episode 9, by that I mean if Princess Leia survives Episode 8, what will happen with her role in 9?
The same thing that made Tarkin’s appearance in Rogue One possible.
But it’s really not the time for anyone to think about that now.
Re: “But it’s really not the time for anyone to think about that now”
+1 vote for this sentiment
I’d say the R1 technology but it seems like it’s in a pretty primitive phase right now and they’d need more time if she has a big part.
The spoiler rumors I read months ago is something happens that puts her into a coma in EP8.
Yup. That has not seemed to have changed either. Another parallel with Empire except she’s not carbonized.
Oh god, the ethical issues regarding bringing a long-dead actor back for Rogue One are messy enough, let’s not talk about reanimating an actress who hasn’t even passed yet. Besides, there are much more important things going on here than Carrie’s part in a Star Wars movie, of all things.
Looks like it’s happening now. If there’s one good thing to come of it, It’s that maybe certain actirs won’t be such primadonna anymore knowing they no longer have job security anymore.
…………………………..yeah that’s a victory sure
Even if she recovers, I doubt she will appear in a movie ever again, other viii of course.
I’m sure KK and LFL are going through a range of emotions right now from: Oh my god this horrible and sending their love…….all the way to holy crap we are F’d, get Rian Johnson and Colin Trevorrow on the horn immediately cuz we got some serious work to do.
I’m sure they will figure it out. Options include:
Doing nothing cuz her character dies in viii
Cgi rogue one style (which will be awkward)
Rewrite viii so she dies in viii, and delay ix for rewrites
Use un used footage and cgi trickery to put her 9 come how
Write her out of 9 completely and kill her off, off screen
Recast her character dumbledor style
Omg I hope ur struck down by something even worse.to think that there’s someone out there more concerned about a fucking space movie than someone beloveds health.
This blog and the people that share on it just get more awful with every post.
So gross
Re: “Omg I hope ur struck down by something even worse”
I get the sentiment of being upset about a crass & selfish thing that was said…. but when you *hope* for something even worse to happen to someone, well… you’re sunk to that “more awful” category yourself.
Please, don’t get me wrong, I am devastated and earlier in this comment section I shared my concern for her well-being. I was merely being honest, but at the same time I’ve always been supportive of Carrie Fisher… my heart did sink when I heard the news.
yeah we read your comment loud and clear buddy…there is no ” getting you wrong”..Your heart sank at the thought of Leia’s story not being completed in the correct way and not knowing what was supposed to happen. If she dies, you will never know what Leia’s fate was originally intended to be..since her mom let it slip that she signed on for all three movies. If that wasn’t the case you would have never even made that comment man… I get it..but damn…have some decency dude…Jesus
If I had to guess, they’ll change Episode VIII so that she has a hero’s death.
a word of advice…if you have to start your conversation with ” I know this is a selfish thing to say”…then you should probably just sit the keyboard aside and stfu.
Everyone else is thinking the same thing (myself included) they just want to get on a high horse when someone else vocalized those thoughts.
Yeah…no shit! Thank you.
Our prayers go out to Carrie and family. I am so thankful that their were medical personel on that flight. We will continue to pray for you.
If she has sustained a severe hypoxic brain injury it will take at least 72 hours from ROSC to establish the extent of damage. If she is on IPPV she may being cooled to reduce the chance of neurological injury. From my own experience as an ICU doctor I would be pessimistic at her chances. However, I have seen a few miracle recoveries in my time – so let us hope for the best.
I think the real damage done to her health wasn’t with all the street drugs she was on during the OT days but the prescription stuff she got hooked on way later. Everyone’s taught to stay away from the dealers but it’s the OTC stuff that will kill you.
Fuck 2016 it has been a real ‘star’ wars with the grim reaper..the amount of creative arts death has to be unprecedented? Lets hope Carrie gives a 2 fingered V salute to death
The reason we’re starting to see tons of celebs conking out at 60-ish now is because we’re getting to the generation where they *really* started hitting the drink and drugs.
You’re a disgusting human being. Your ridiculous insinuation stated here like fact is in fact far from the truth. Drugs aren’t bad stupid people are.
Generally speaking drugs are bad. For now i hope they can help Carrie improve her condition.
Re: “Generally speaking drugs are bad”
Probably the most dangerous & often used *bad drug* – alcohol.
Then again, the highest raise in deaths is from the *bad drugs* doctors are (mis-)prescribing.
Caffeine is another one they worry about in the frequent high quantities consumed.
Yes, humanity consumes a tremendous amount of drugs.
Don’t want to come off as being negative, but if she went without breathing (as some reports are saying) for ten minutes, she’ll be lucky not to end up brain dead.
She was receiving CPR by a doctor and a nurse on the plain. CPR is designed to preserve brain function. She was immediately hooked on ventilator by firefighters on the airport. We have to believe that it was enough and wait for official word.
This was the first thing I thoghnt about when I got up this morning & it’s Christmas.
Don’t leave us Carrie. Your more important than you’ll ever know.
Prayers and thoughts to Carrie and her family. 2016 can’t be gone soon enough. I’m still having a hard time accepting Prince is gone. I’ve grown up with these people as my heroes and just expected them to live forever. Sadly that’s not reality though.
This is a sad news by christmas times :'( my thoughts for her and her family in that hard time. Only 60 years…. Sadly we are not eternals beings
The latest news from her Mother

Hello, PlatinumStar. Long time no see.
I have a sneaking suspicion I know how you voted in the election 😛
Whew… thank goodness for update 3. Well and modern medical technology.
If there’s anything I believe in this life, it’s that Carrie Fisher leaves this world in the way that she spent her time here, only on her terms. Her terms.
That’s good news.
Merry Christmas
Wow! That’s great news for update 3! The force is strong!!
So very glad to hear that last update. Hoping for all the best for Carrie and family!
My Christmas wish came true.
excellent news! thank goodness.
It’s great to hear some more encouraging news.
Hopefully if/when she pulls through she will not have suffered any permanent damage.
2016 just can’t stop taking people away from me. I hope Carrie Fisher survives and gets better.
2016 has been a very shit year.
Poor Carrie during Christmas. May the force be with u princess
The person who gave her CPR probably saved her brain. We will probably know her prognosis by tomorrow morning California time either way, according to my calculations.
Let’s hope.
RIP Carrie. This sucks so much.
Agreed. 2016 has been a horrible year for actors’ deaths.
It’s official, Carrie is now one with the Force…
RIP …so sad fuck you 2016
Very surreal to think one of the big three is now dead. How much of her VIII footage was shot anyway?
I honestly thought George would go first.
VIII wrapped filming (re-shoots aside) a while ago. Question now is, will they need to remove her for IX or did Leia already die in VIII?
They’ll probably kill her off in VIII now. I wouldn’t be surprised if they expand her role using CGI so that they can give her a grand hero’s death.
This particular circumstance was most certainly taken into consideration long before Episode 8 script was done. I don’t think her death changes anything (as far as the script for 8 or 9). Rogue One has shown us that Disney/LucasFilm will do full CGI if needed.
it’s probably too soon to consider this, but to do full CG for Leia in Episode IX feels like in bad taste. It’s been several decades since the death of Peter Cushing so that was a different case. I feel that General Leia will likely die in the final cut of Episode VIII. And it may be for the best.
When they work on the reshoots (which are scheduled this spring), maybe they’ll change things up in the rewrites and promote Poe to running the Resistance, and expand the roles of Snap and Connix (Fisher’s daughter’s Billie Lourd’s character) to have more things to do and say in Episode IX. This feels like it would be more appropriate and respectful to Fisher and the Leia character.
Also, depending on where the story goes and how it ends, maybe Leia could show up as a Force Ghost at the end of IX. I imagine there is/will be plenty of unused footage of Fisher from TFA and E-VIII. And unused footage from the other movies Fisher appeared in when she was younger that they could license for this. If handled well, this could be a real tearjerker moment to end the new trilogy.
POSSIBLE SPOILER (?)
It was rumored that Leia is put into a coma following an assassination attempt (while attending the funeral for Han on Corella). Laura Dern’s character is brought in to run the Resistance, and she butts heads with Poe.
If this rumored plot is true, then you have to wonder if they’ll decide to let Leia die in the final cut.
I feel bad wondering about this, since this isn’t as important as losing Fisher.
this sucks 🙁
Oh dear Lord, she is dead… I’m so sad right now… Rest in peace dear princess. We will miss you a lot
. . .
Heartbroken…She encuraged generations of fans..both men and women…
Totally shocked – thought she was in recovery 🙁
She may have been in recovery still. She was bipolar. If she were off her meds long enough for any reason, that could certainly have caused enough stress on her heart to be very dangerous. I just hope that she did not suffer.

You go from riding a high after a great xmas seeing rogue one, to this. BUT look at it this way, she is now immortal in the memory of MILLIONS if not BILLIONS of Star Wars and Movie fans…going across generations…..
Lots of artists this year….
But with Carrie can’t stop crying…
May the Force be with you Carrie
She is gone.
Rest in peace.
RIP Carrie. One of the true legends for many generations of men and women.
🙁
r.i.p. ms. fisher. 🙁
Carrie Fisher has died. RIP Carrie, she was an amazing woman who made some bad choices, but made some real improvements in her life near its end. She’ll always be an icon.
Re: “woman who made some bad choices”
“bad choices” – necessary to say this at this time?
Re: “but made some real improvements”
Glad you’re hear to judge this woman’s life & progress/failures.
Stay classy there TUD.
I’ts OK to speak the truth, Doug. It’s those bad choices that took her life at such an early age. there’s a lesson to be learned here and it shouldn’t be clouded by political correctness. I don’t believe in the term “too soon”.
Re: “I’ts OK to speak the truth, Doug. It’s those bad choices that took her life at such an early age.”
It’s absolutely NOT OK to impersonate a coroner/doctor.
“It’s those bad choices” –
You don’t know this. Don’t state this as a fact.
Also, regardless of what the cause of death is – it’s awful to point out what you judge as “bad choices” & effectively *blame* her for this. Now is not the time (if there ever is an appropriate time).
DougP, TUD didn’t say anything inappropriate. Sadly, this premature death was likely caused by her poor lifestyle choices over decades. Doesn’t make Carrie a bad person of course. She seemed to have become a tremendous person. So why not discuss? Maybe people can learn from her mistakes. It would be a fitting tribute to Carrie and given her very blunt and honest style, she would support talking about these things. Especially to help others.
Asterion,
Re: “Sadly, this premature death was likely caused by her poor lifestyle choices over decades.”
Here’s the thing:
1) “likely caused” – we don’t know this, why speculate?
2) it’s very “un-classy” to be speaking about a person’s “bad choices” immediately after they’ve died
Will look forward to TUD’s/other’s commentary on Harrison Ford’s infidelity the day he dies.
DougP, you are apparently missing the point or jumping through mental hoops to be offended. Carrie died of a heart attack. She was a smoker for decades and substance abuser for many of those. Those things are known causes of heart related ailments. There is a very high likelihood that those things played a large role in the condition of her heart.
But I am not speaking ill of the recently departed. I think Carrie Fisher was an amazing human being. She spoke very openly about the things you are saying shouldn’t be brought up. Its fine if you don’t want to discuss those items, but its also fine if TUD wants to bring them up respectfully as he did. People can learn from her wisdom as well as mistakes. The ultimate tribute to an amazing woman who went through a lot during her life.
Will Harrison’s infidelity cause his death?
Re: “Will Harrison’s infidelity cause his death?”
Exactly – we don’t know!
With the way you like to speculate & moralize, I’d not be shocked if you speculated his death was due to some STD acquired during his infidelities.
We’ll anxiously await coroner TUD’s diagnosis (& moralizing).
Are you disagreeing? Carrie as never shy about her fuck-ups. She owned them, and she corrected them. Brushing them under the rug is likely not what she would have wanted. But thanks for the concern.
Re: “Brushing them under the rug”
Never said anything about brushing them under the rug.
I’m just think it’s inappropriate to be bringing this up at this time.
Also – unless you’re the coroner over-seeing an inquiry, it’s pure gossip & speculation to associate her drug use/”wicked lifestyle” with her death.
For all we know she had some other medical/hereditary condition.
At least wait for the “body to be cold” before moralizing.
Or would you like the 1st thing discussed about you when your *time* comes to be your failings?
You know, you don’t have to to mental gymnastics to justify being outraged about people discussing the truth. Carrie was a lifelong smoker, and that likely caused heart problems. It’s okay to discuss the truth, and Carrie wouldn’t want people to shy away from this. I don’t need you to make false equivalencies and dictate the way that other people speak. you can have your opinion, but that doesn’t mean that anyone else has to agree. Maybe you should just stop bickering with others and give your attention to Carrie. She deserves it.
We don’t know what caused her death.
I don’t need you to dictate to me what I can say either, as well as I don’t need you changing the subject.
Re: “you can have your opinion, but that doesn’t mean that anyone else has to agree.”
Ummmm… yeah, ditto!
And who said anyone has to agree? I was questioning the appropriateness of your comments (see ‘classy’).
Re: “She deserves it.”
Deserves having her “fans”, not knowing the cause of her death, moralizing & judging her, & literally in their 1st description of her (hours after her death is announced) – labelling her as someone who “made bad choices”?
“deserves” is right – she deserves better than this.

Even as a small child I remember thinking Carries character was the ideal woman. It is hard to know what influenced what we are but I like to think she did a small part in making us see women as independent and capable of everything a man could do.
Our Princess is gone. My heart is breaking. R.I.P. Carrie. I’m 37, I’ve been a Star Wars fan since I was four. You were beyond awesome. Thanks for everything.
We were lucky that Disney bought Lucasfilm, as we got to see Carrie once again in her most iconic role and we still have one more Episode to look forward to. It’s going to be heartbreaking watching Episode VIII though. Of all the icons that have passed this year, this one is a real gut punch.
Re: “We were lucky that Disney bought Lucasfilm”
*Lucky* is not a word that describes how I feel today. 🙁
George would never have made any more movies and we’d never have seen Princess Leia on the big screen again.

Thank you.
So sad tonight . R.I.P carrie
To me, she’s royalty.
To me, she’s royalty.
“So long, princess”
“Hope.”

Just horrible news! After growing up watching her for years….my hearts broken! Thank you Carrie for the memories.
Time for update 4, SWNN 🙁
Oh no, it can’t be true… I’m so sad right now…This year sucks so much.
R.I.P
Just heard the bad news. Shock and sadness. She’s been in my life for 40 years. She will be missed.
frak.
So sad to hear she has become one with the Force :'( R.I.P.
Such a sad day…
Damn… I was feeling good so many days had passed without a word. Normally that’s a good sign.
60 is to damn young.
The saddest news…just so sad.
I´m devastated….already shocked at Christmas but this is way unexpected…..what an end of the year, my Star Wars friends…..what an end of the year….
This article needs a major update. Most unfortunately.
Totally gutted. What a terrible end to the year. She will live on in true iconic fashion in the hearts and minds of millions for years to come.
She was a strong person who lived a very hard life, yet she showed us all with her spirit that you can turn things around and make it a memorable one.
Rest now Carrie, you are now one with the force.
feel so sad for Carrie and her family and friends.
Leonard Nimoy died 1 year before Star Trek’s 50th anniversary, and now Carrie Fisher has died half a year before Star Wars’ 50th. Such a sad day and tragic end to 2016.
Star Wars 40th.
Whoops. Thanks for the correction.
No problem. Normally I wouldn’t bother but by your calculations that makes me 54 years old… And I’m not quite ready for that yet.
Thia is the first time I have cried for a celebrity. I am so,so sad.
Me too.
This weekend I watched Rogue One, then A New Hope and ended it with Empire. And I have nothing to say. Because Carrie’s death just was like a punch in the gut, you know it’s coming but then POW! We’ll miss you Carrie. “To me she’s royalty.”
This is truly saddening news. Just when I thought there was a glimmer of hope with the last update. We will miss you princess.
I hope Carrie and Mark Hamill have a scene together in Episode 8…
I bet they will now. At the very, very least, the movie will be dedicated to Carrie.
My heart is broken. I was really hoping she’d pull through.
After hearing she was stabilized I was shocked to have read this news
I don’t think I’ll be able to watch a Star Wars film any time soon. My heart will just
break every time. As for 2016… just end, you’ve taken so much from us.
Rest in peace, Carrie, and May the Force Be With You Always. Thanks to you, your Force will be with all of us, always. I am so grateful that you graced this Earth with your TRUE beauty, at least for a little while.
RIP Princess Leia….. 2016 is a cruel year for us.
RIP, Carrie Fisher 🙁 🙁 🙁
The force for Carrie Fisher!!!
It may sound selfish or wrong to say during this dark time, but I hope beyond hope that Luke & Leia have a scene together in Episode VIII. I know Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher were like brother and sister in real life so seeing them together on screen one last time would be so powerful. Just the thought brings a tear to my eye so I can’t imagine how actually seeing it on screen would impact me.
Me too. if they didn’t film a scene between the two, they should definitely use their best technology to create one. It would be a greats sendoff to Carrie.
I am so sad. I was in shock when I heard after knowing she was in stable condition. I felt a great disturbance in the force and she will missed by all of us. I really hope she gets a good screentime and with Luke. I saw rogue one again tonite and cried at the end with the ending of leia. Love you princess. May the force be you…always
