Updated with a Preview Clip! Princess Leia to Appear in Star Wars: Rebels on January 20th!
As we reported last week, the next Star Wars: Rebels episode was rumored to be titled “A Princess on Lothal”. Many speculated that this probably means that we will see our favorite princes making her debut in the new Disney animation TV show. Now TV Insider confirms that this is indeed the case.

The iconic character will be featured in the January 20 episode of the Disney XD series. The teenage princess is sent to Lothal—the base planet for the series’ main characters, a group of rebel fighters—on a secret mission to bring ships for the rebel fleet. Unfortunately an Imperial lockdown throws that plan into chaos.
“We thought we had an opportunity to show her learning to be a leader, experimenting with the personality that becomes the stronger more resolute character you see in A New Hope,” Filoni says. “One of the complex challenges of depicting Leia in Rebels is that we have to remind the audience that at this point she is part of the Empire. She doesn’t believe in the Empire, but she is acting the part, almost a double agent.”
This will be Leia’s only appearance this season, and it is unknown yet if she will appear again on the series. The voice will not be provided by Carrie Fisher (the live-action actress who created the role), but instead is by Julie Dolan, who also played Leia in the video game Star Wars: Uprising.
A Princess in Lothal, airs Wednesday, January 20 at 9/8c on Disney XD.

Finally an Episode that may be worth watching. The past few ones have been letdowns.
Isnt she supposed to be Ezra’s age? She looks much older
Girls look older than boys at that age (earlier puberty and all that).
Speaking from experience, they don’t look THAT different. Leia already looks like a woman. She’s supposed to look like a teenaged girl.
15 year old girls are usually done with puberty.
She looks to old on that shoot.
Rebels are set 5 years before ANH. She is born the same day as Ezra.
A day after, actually. But yeah, she should probably look more like a young girl.
You have to remember that Leia is supposed to be 19 in ANH, and this takes place just a few years before that. Girls don’t look much different between 16 and 19. Men, however change dramatically in that time period, so she would look older than Ezra. It works.
Rebels are set 5 years before ANH. That would make Leia being 14 years old on that shoot.
Rebels WAS set 5 years before ANH. If one assumes this show follows a similar pattern to most shows, then Season 2 would be 4 years before ANH.
Yeah, I think Ezra turned 15 in Season 1. It would stand to reason that he (and Leia) is about 16 now.
Anyway, she looks older than 16 on that shoot. More like 19 or 20 to me.
5 years before rebels tv series.. This is already Season 2. so she is proly close to 16.

The outfit Leia is wearing is from some old concept art. Very old concept art.
I think it’s more accurate to say they are inspired by the Hammerhead ships from KOTOR. There are some differences to the ships in KOTOR. That said, I have a theory that they’re planning on bringing KOTOR and TOR into the canon at some point. They’ve danced around it a bit thus far.
Excuse my ignorance (as I’m not particularly into this) but what’s the difference between KOTOR & TOR? Are they just two different games and/or two different time periods in the Star Wars universe (alternative time period that is as they’re technically Legends material at the moment).?
TOR (SWTOR) takes place a few hundreds years after KOTOR. It carries on a lot of the story threads of KOTOR, such as the Rakata, Revan, Taris and so on. Both take place about 3000 years before New Hope.
So I guess we know what that LEGO set is from.
I’m not convinced. Look at the prelim again… the hammerhead piece is situated horizontally on the LEGO set, not vertically like these in the video.
She looks a lot like Carrie, I like that.
And her voice doesn’t sound that old to me… I just hope they don’t ruin her character – which it seems they didn’t – and I’ll be happy. 🙂
Leia always had a very low voice.
That’s what I’m saying! There are a lot of people bitching about how her voice is really low for a 15 year old girl.
Luckily, it is a SHORT appearance. One episode they can handle without too much worry of doing any ruining.
I wouldn’t worry, Filoni & co are very respectful and thoughtful about Star Wars canon and characters 🙂

I think the animation on Leia is the weak link, the voice acting is about right though.
