Star Wars Rebels to Return in January; More Details on Season 2 Unveiled.

Ahsoka Darth Vader

In case you didn’t see this week’s episode of Rebels Recon, it’s recently been announced that Star Wars Rebels is going to take a break that will last until after the release of The Force Awakens. The show will be returning this January, and recent details about what to expect in the second half of this season have been unveiled by Lucasfilm.

The following details were mentioned in the Rebels Recon video:

  • The next episode – arriving some time in January – will pick up where Kanan, Ezra, and Chopper left off on Lothal with their new ally.
  • Sabine’s past as a Mandalorian is explored in greater detail; several Mandalorians will also appear.
  • Zeb’s life as one of the last surviving members of his species is explored.
  • Cham Syndulla, who is Hera’s father, will appear and will be reunited with her. Ryloth’s status quo after the events of Lords Of The Sith will be revealed.
  • Other characters from The Clone Wars will be introduced and/or will be included more prominently in future episodes.
  • The Ghost crew as a whole get “shaken up” by the end of the season, but form a stronger bond because of it.
  • Ahsoka Tano and Darth Vader will have a long-awaited duel.

It doesn’t appear as though the new season will have the two-week hiatuses that troubled the last season, so the remaining eleven episodes should be out by the end of March or the beginning of April. Until then, stay on target with Star Wars News Net to hear more about the latest and greatest news regarding the Galaxy Far, Far Away.

The last few episodes have been pretty weak- I am so sick of how they portray civilians as all being the exact same type of person every time. The story has also been paper thin for quite a while.

The last okay episode was the b-wing story but even the inventor character was so aloof that I had a hard time believing that he could have created such an instrument of warfare. Filoni really needs to take a step back and start developing characters a bit more.

The civillian thing is likely a limitation with CG animation, more designs = more expensive so copy/paste wherever possible

It was reported before that the plan was to show the next episode, “The Secrect of Prisoner X10” this Saturday, and have THAT be the mid-season finale. I wonder why they changed their minds, and made last night’s episode the finale. It didn’t really feel like a mid-season finale at all, nor was it promoted as one in the week leading up to it. The ending also wasn’t very cliffhangery or climactic for a mid-season finale, while I imagine the next episode will end with some big reveal, twist, or cliffhanger (since it was originally supposed to be the finale). Very strange last minute decision it seems.

The title “The Secret of Prisoner X10” was changed to “Legacy.”

Of the things mentioned for the rest of the season that I’m most looking forward to is seeing Cham! I’m a huge fan of Lords of the Sith, which is my favorite of the new canon novels. Cham’s a really great character, and hinted to be one of the fathers of the Rebellion. I’m dying to know where he is and how he ties into the greater story at this point. Very excited!

Hopefully they mean Cad Bane by characters from The Clone Wars though I hope Boba Fett kills him since it’s hard to believe he became the number one bounty hunter with him still alive.

I’m really worried how they would pull that off considering how goofy the Nemoidians looked and so much of his appeal is through Corey Burton’s awesome voice work. I’m not sure they could do him practically since he is such an action heavy character unless he has a brief cameo.

to be fair, CG has come a long way since the prequels. if the mo-cap characters in ep VII look legit, i think we can expect a lot more of them. heck, they can even have corey do the voice.

It has but well-aged CG is really rare. The T-1000 and Dinos in the original Jurrasic Park are great examples that still hold up well today but most the PT stuff looks far more primitive in 2015 in spite of costing more and having a bigger animation team work on them. The Special Editions are even worse.

wow, it really takes very little to become a “mandalorian”. You jusn need to wear a Jango Fett type helmet. Not that Jango was a mandalorian. He was just a bounty hunter, same as his son. But hey, let’ s follow the joke. Do they all have this helmet? I mean mandalorian men, woman and kids? Perhaps they are even born with this helmet? Because, you know, according to the new “canon” all mandalolorians have this type of helmet and armor, even if thay go shopping. This stormtrooper in the first season of Rebels instantly recognized the girl as Mandalorian. Sorry, my fellof fanboys, this is just extremely stupid. I get it that it is simplyfied for the kids. What I don’ t understand is why everything has to be canon now. Who are the super brains behind this? And what about the new canon? Does it have high quality standart in storytelling? All of it?

The beauty of the old EU was that you could pick and choose what was canon since none of it ever really was. Now every hack idea is part of the canon.

All it took before was to be accepted as a member of a clan, usually through battle, sometimes through other ways. Not like there’s ever been an actual process to it in the modern Star Wars universe at all regardless of where it lies in the old/new canon.
