A lot is going to happen in 29 years but this looks great. Dice should be allowed to produce content for some short stories

WOW! Impressive! I played the beta and it was so fun. This level looks epic.

The game looks great. I loved the beta and I’m sure I’ll play this in full at some time in the future.
Unfortunately for LucasArts, Fallout 4 is on the near release and will be taking up the next couple months of my time.

There are at least two already crashed on the surface, so it could be any of them. I was thinking the same thing, though, “Which one of these is Thane and Ciena’s Star Destroyer?” LOL

I was thinking that too!It very certainly could be the Inflictor, which would make this game so much cooler.

Seems like it to me the camera beamed to this star destroyer it could and most likely would be the inflictor.

I spent most of the beta being killed by other people as I looked around. This is not the game for me. However a nice single player game where I can soak up all the attention to detail at my own pace would be fantastic. Dare I say Dark Forces?

The head writer/creative director of the Uncharted series, Amy Hennig, is heading up a single-player focused game I believe to be focused on Han Solo.

I’d forgotten about that one. The Uncharted games were pretty excellent, so hopefully Han Solo might finally get the game that he deserves.

Too bad it seems to be a ways away. I doubt they’re even past the concept stage at this point. Of course, I prefer they take all the time they need!

I agree completely. The game looked absolutely amazing and almost photo realistic in the Beta, but this kinda multiplayer thing isn’t for me either. I can barely survive more than 20 seconds, and I also just don’t find it fun at all. I prefer a game with plenty of story and lots of world exploration… like Fallout 4! 🙂

A fallout style game set in the Star Wars universe would be my ultimate dream come true! KOTOR came pretty darn close, but wasn’t very open-world with its maps. With today’s tech you could make something incredible!

That trailer looks epic…I am on chapter 3 of the Battlefront Twilight Company novel (full review coming by Pomojema soon). Most books that are offshoots of video games suck, but so far this one has me hooked. The action and military tactic heavy story have been great so far. The characters are good as well. I can’t vouch for the remainder of the book, but it’s off to a strong start…kind of makes me lament the lack of a campaign story mode in the new Battlefront game.

thats a trailer? can we all admit this game wont be better than either of the original Battlefronts? If I even get this game, it’ll be two weeks after release, when i get your used copy at Gamestop.

Correction: There are hero battles in the full game, there is a Galactic Conquest type game mode, but you are right that there is no campaign but they did put in a singleplayer missions game mode.

One thing I love about this game based on what I’ve played and seen is that it really makes the planets feel like real locations. That makes sense considering they actually used real background plates from California (Endor), Norway (Hoth), the Southwest (Tatooine), and Sullust (Iceland) to make the game.

That being said, I do hope Dice makes a sequel where they tackle the Prequel environments. Unfortunately, since most of these locations were rendered via CG, it’d be a little more difficult, but if they could make Kashyyk, Geonosis, Felucia, and even Coruscant feel like real places the way they have with this Battlefront game, that’d be something really special. I pray it happens.

That’s what I’m hoping for. I really want EA’s battlefront 2 to be about the prequel trilogy, so that we can have a game dedicated to each. Then perhaps battlefront 3 can be about the sequel triolgy.

Should have used Tunisia for Tatooine but I guess with the political situation there that wasn’t an option, Also probably why we are getting Jakku in TFA instead.

      • November 4, 2015 at 8:35 am
        Permalink

Actually I was surprised to find out recently that a significant amount of Tatooine scenes for the original Star Wars movie were filmed in Death Valley and ROTJ’s scenes were exclusively filmed in the Yuma Desert, so Tatooine was always a hybrid.

And yeah there are definitely things that the designers could use to build the Prequel environments, but it would almost certainly be a tougher undertaking if you ask me.

A few scenes but it was largely Tunisia overall.

They used those in the PT but I don’t remember exactly where they were. Some of them like Kamino I don’t think used any real plates at all.

2 Star Destroyers down and the 3rd is going down. 29 years later there are at least 3 on Jakku in TFA.

Yeah, that was also my main takeaway from this trailer. I wonder which one is the Star Destroyer that Thane and Ciena are on. lol

being a picky sod, I suppose I have to point out that in TFA teaser 2, the downed X-wing is of the new variety. In this trailer the X-wings are of the old type.

    • November 3, 2015 at 10:06 pm
      Permalink

The crashed X-wing in the trailer is the old T-65 model.

not so picky to detail as you think… because you are totally wrong

      • November 3, 2015 at 11:51 pm
        Permalink

The engines on the X-wing are as a single cylinder on each wing instead of the pair of small cylinders on the old style. I’m pretty sure it’s the new style X-wing.

        • November 4, 2015 at 12:18 am
          Permalink

Look again. You can tell from the shot in the TFA teaser that the wings were in tge “x” formation when it crashed. The bottom wing is in the sand. If this were the newer model you would only see the semicircle engine on the upper wing. Its a full circle which means it’s the older model.

          • November 4, 2015 at 12:44 am
            Permalink

I thought the engine looked over-sized for one of the older model. Still, you could be right.

Exactly! I’m holding out for single-player experiences. Dark forces and The original KOTOR were incredible growing up, let’s get HD games that play like that. As cool as they look, I’m turned off by most of these MMO’s and online shooters, too many jerks ruining any community. It’s a shame because this was going to be a day 1 purchase for me until I found out there is almost NO single-player experience to be had outside one or two challenge missions

      • November 4, 2015 at 2:04 pm
        Permalink

a KOTOR style game would be very well received I’m sure, I don’t know why they didn’t pursue that series further. Despite my general dislike of MMO shoot-em-up’s I would say that ‘Star Wars Galaxies’ was epic and the community there was largely pretty good, I think that’s because it was a very complex game so probably attracted more mature players.

Don’t think there is any voice chat in the game. At least there was none in the Beta.

So I thought that TFA takes place 32 years after ROTJ (coinciding with it now being 32 years after the release of ROTJ in theaters; “real time”, in other words). Is it now 30 years, making the Battle of Jakku 29 years, or has it always been this way?

    • November 3, 2015 at 11:54 pm

TFA is 30 years after ROTJ. Jakku happens a year after ROTJ.

Hm, I could have sworn that I read it was 32 years. Not that 2 years is much different. I know that Jakku happens a year after (I mentioned 29 as how many years Jakku was before TFA). Anyway, thanks!

Love this game so far, but it doesn’t really seem to focus much on continuity. I mean, Luke with a green light saber on Hoth? Rebels using Tusken Cycler rifles on Hoth? Might’ve just been the Beta.

It’s not supposed to. Battlefront never has. BF2 featured the first Death Star, with the heroes being Jedi Luke and Palpatine.
Like, why not Obi-Wan and Vader? .-.

I just thought a game with a promotional teaser that begins with “29 years before the events in The Force Awakens” would be more attentive to canon. I understand it’s a marketing tool, but still.

Battlefront has been confirmed that it has no continuity/canon aspects this game is purely game play not focusing on what did or did not happen. Though they did release star wars battle front twilight company novel which is the only true canon aspects their releasing for battlefront.

Their better be references to the inflictor also to characters thane and ciena. Also references to the new republic since that’s what they are during this time period. Even though the game is not canon their has to Easter eggs for hardcore star wars/canon fans.

So basically it’s what Ord Mantell was to the old EU? You would think the Rebels and Imperials would want to get their secret intel out rather than just leave it to scavengers to sell to everyone on the invisible market.

    • November 4, 2015 at 6:08 am

But in fact Ord Mantell is canon. Han Solo told about Bobba Fett he met here. (talking to Leia in Episode 5)

I was not aware of that. So now Raxxus and Ord Mantell are the same planet renamed ? I am not sure but i ve heard Raxxus Prime in the Clone Wars comics or cartoons. So it’s before the EU wipe out. Ord Mantell is just an unused name left then ?

Raxxus was the junk planet during the PT but they were not the same in the old EU.
