Hasbro Announces Star Wars Lightsaber Academy + All New York Toy Fair Reveals
By now, most Star Wars enthusiasts have either seen or heard of Lenovo’s Jedi Challenges. This augmented reality simulator allows you to hone your lightsaber techniques against hologram projections of Star Wars characters like Kylo Ren. That system was, of course, aimed more towards the adult market with its price point and complexity. But this week Hasbro has announced it is also getting into the game of Jedi training with the upcoming release of Star Wars lightsaber Academy. Also during this year’s Toy Fair in New York, Hasbro revealed an abundance of new Star Wars figures and games, check them out…
Lightsaber Academy will be placed more in the traditional toy demographic with a $49.99 price point. And while it doesn’t look to be as advanced as Lenovo’s AR system, it does look like it will be a lot of fun.

Train to become a lightsaber master with the STAR WARS LIGHTSABER ACADEMY Interactive Training System! Download the official Lightsaber Academy App, choose from one of five of the best Masters in the galaxy, and begin your journey to become a lightsaber expert! Learn official STAR WARS moves and train and battle with one of 5 legendary Jedi or Sith Masters! Loaded with Smart-Hilt™ technology, your lightsaber connects via Bluetooth and tracks your motion to evaluate and score your moves. The Smart-Hilt™ will track your progress and help you level up in the app. With two LIGHTSABER ACADEMY lightsabers (each sold separately), you can battle friends head to head and test your skills. In addition to Star Wars Lightsaber Academy Hasbro will also be making the extendable lightsabers available on their own for significantly less cost. The basic models (Lightsaber Level 1) will be available in a variety of colors for $9.99, while Level 2 sabers (which will consist of replicas of Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker’s lightsabers) will come in at $19.99.
And here are all the reveals from Toy Fair 2019, including the new retro collection series, two The Phantom Menace figures, exclusive to Star Wars Celebration Chicago, an 8-inch HyperReal Darth Vader figure, and multiple new Black Series and Vintage figures, including Jabba’s Tatooine skiff and more.
