Trailer there will be. Trolling the fans that SW7N, MSW, SWU and the organization that originally published that story have engaged in.

[Yes folks, you heard it here first. I’m straight up accusing these SW sites (and the source of the originally story) of trolling us fans with this crappy news regarding how there will be no new trailer premiering in SDCC]

I’m positive EW isn’t lying. They are reporting EXACTLY what lucasfilm told them. This means we are likely not getting a trailer. However there is around a 20% possibility in my mind that lucasfilm could pull a bait-and-switch just to have the “oh and we have one more thing for you” moment that JJ lives for. Probably won’t happen but if we don’t get any new trailer then I want at LEAST a poster or some new info. No having the cast do the queens wave and then say how exciting it is and that they are using practical effects…if I hear that phrase again I’ll loose it lol.

        • July 9, 2015 at 9:07 pm
          Permalink

Or, maybe JJ and Co. read all the backlash that they received from that story and they decide to reverse gears and show the trailer after all. After all, it’s the fans that are going to make or break this film and if they care about their bottom lines, they should reconsider (they probably won’t still lol).

I believe we are getting a crawl. TPM crawl came out with Vanity Fair article, and the others have all come out before the movie. with the writer present, it would be a good way to show the 1st minute of the film without actually showing anything. plus the official site referred to SDCC using the words ‘opening crawl’, and i believe they have been carefully laying out a trail of breadcrumbs. so friends…..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=23HX3XK3_2w

Never considered this, but that would be a great way to not show a trailer or even any footage, and still give us something HUGE. I mean, it would literally spell out what the state of the galaxy is at the beginning of the film, which is something we’re all dying to know. I like this idea. I really hope it turns out to be correct!

this is the exact same speeder built by the Belgian Prop guys for Celebration, Lucasfilm/Disney was so impressed by their work they invited some of them and the prop back to Comic Con ( and other future events) the only difference is the staff/weapon from Rey, thats an original prop from the movie the Belgians are allowed to use.

All the Morlocks are controlled by a race of Über-Morlocks, who appear more human than the other two castes seen in the movies. Instead of having grey skin and patches of fur, the Über-Morlock that appears in the film has long, flowing white hair and white skin, the general physique of a human, and clothing. His brain is so large that it doesn’t fit into his head, but instead trails down his back and envelops his spine. He is telepathic and telekinetic, articulate in English speech, and eventually ends up fighting Alexander Hartdegen (the main character of this film).

As explained by the Über-Morlock (in terms of the 2002 movie), the Morlocks originated from humans that sought shelter underground, after an attempt at constructing a lunar colony on the Moon sent fragments of the Moon crashing to Earth. They remained underground for so long that they developed bodies with very little melanin in their skin and very sensitive eyes that could not tolerate sunlight for long. As a result of the past catastrophe and the resulting strain on resources, the proto-Morlocks divided themselves into several castes, two of which (the ‘Hunters’ and the ‘Spies’) could survive in the daylight. They inbred within each caste until the Morlock race became composed of genetically fine-tuned sub-races designed for specific tasks.

The movie displays three of these races: the Hunter Morlocks that hunt down and capture the Eloi, the Spy Morlocks that shoot them with blowgun darts (so as to make them detectable to the hunters), and the Über-Morlocks that command the first two races telepathically. The Morlocks seen in the movie are destroyed when Alexander causes his time machine to malfunction and explode in their tunnels, but there are other Morlock colonies that remain and are unseen.

So Ahsoka Tano just came out of nowhere, huh? And I guess the actor that played Darth Maul played him in the OT, huh? And I guess MdDiarmid’s Palpatine was only showcased in ROTJ, huh?

So you want to tell me that the events in TCW show occurred after ROTS and somehow occurred concurrently with the events of the OT?

    • July 9, 2015 at 7:54 pm
      Permalink

      1) Naturally, the events occurring in the ST occur after the events of the OT. (after all, SDCC will be showcasing things from TFA, a movie that occurs after ROTJ, so naturally the showing of things that occur before TFA makes sense).

      2) A good amount of young fans are unfamiliar with the OT than the PT simply because the OT is much older than the PT. (in other words, the youth need to be caught up to speed). Also, there had not been a lot of modern-day OT merchandise for a whole now (the stuff from 1977-1983 isn’t around anymore in regular stores) but there now will be; there’s already a of of PT-era merchandise out there but for the longest time (until now), there had hardly been much OT-era stuff out in the market.

      3) There are PT-era items there too such as some of the Hot Wheels models, some characters on that “The Space Opera” oil on canvas portrait (like Maul), and a figure of Grievous on display and figures of Kenobi with Commander Cody and Jango Fett (these are from pics posted on SWU). Heck, there’s probably a few more PT-era items on there

Also, if you look at some of the upcoming “Journey to TFA” books, there are some that portray PT-era items such as the “Star Wars: Ships of the Galaxy” book (showing a Jedi starfighter front and center, the top left quadrant of the “Star Wars: Look and Find” book (displaying the Battle of Coruscant), and I’m sure the “Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need to Know” book will have PT-era items as well (and these are only 10 of the “Journey to TFA that they have shown so far). Also, don’t forget about Disney Infinity 3.0 that will have figures from the PT era.

This following message doesn’t apply to you if you aren’t a PT hater/basher but if you are (and anybody else out there that is): irrational and delusional PT haters/bashers continue to amaze me! smh

Yeah, they sure are completely ignoring PT stuff *rolls eyes* #sarcasm

Well I think it’s obvious we are leaving the PT as far as we can. Look at this interview to TheForceAwakens production designers for instance. “They” refers to SDCC, judging by the pictures we have so far. I see maybe two or three little PT-related things but they’re all hardly noticeable. And stop looking for hidden meanings that simply aren’t there, and stop trying to be witty through displaying terrible attempts at sarcasm – this goes for everyone else who feels the need to respond to my comment in a negative manner merely because I commented about how I noticed the lack of coverage for anything PT-related. I barely give a damn about the PT but at least I have the ability to think about those who do, rather than some of you self-centered folks who are incapable of looking any further than beyond
        your own little worlds.

“OT diehards cannot understand the disappointment we prequel fans are going through”
I couldn’t agree more. Us PT fans are never going to get a Jar Jar movie, or a monologue on the grittiness of sand movie, or an endlessly choreographed light sabre dance off movie. 🙁

        • July 9, 2015 at 11:58 pm
          Permalink

Newsflash: the prequels only exist because of how monumentally popular the OT was and remains. If it bothers you that they’re going back to that era you just don’t really like Star Wars. It shouldn’t even come as a shock that they aren’t making any kind of content specifically to satisfy the minority of delusional fuckwits that actually love the prequels and think it represents Star Wars at it’s best.

Believe it or not, after the OT, SW interest was dying off as the years went by. Since no new SW movies were coming out for next 16 years after ROTJ, the SW brand was fading. So you should be thanking for the PT that 1) SW as a whole became popular again (thus SW regaining interest again) and 2) the PT brought in more fans into the world of SW fandom, particularly a younger generation of fans (a passing of the torch type of thing). So you should be thankful and lucky that more SW movies were made to reinvigorate the franchise (and be grateful that even more will be made too).

Now, you’re probably going to come back here and attempt to dispute my statements but hey, we can’t really expect anything better from irrational and delusional PT haters/bashers who act like conservative Republicans who are afraid of change and out of touch with society and who many seem to have misguided feelings of nostalgia.

Believe it or not you’re full of shit and probably too young to even really know what it was like. People weren’t excited about the announcement of the prequels because it seemed like such an awesome concept in and of itself, it’s because they were getting more Star Wars period.

My hatred of the prequels is very rational, they’re ng shitty films full of boring inconsequential characters, already dated effects and a telegraphed story that seems like it was written by a twelve year old.

You may like them, but it doesn’t change the fact that the films were not remotely close to the success of the OT. Not a matter of opinion.

          • July 10, 2015 at 1:13 am
            Permalink

See, this is exactly what I mean (and sir, you’re the only one who’s full of it):

PT haters/bashers declaring their opinions as facts, attempting to force their opinions onto others, and making others who do like the PT feel bad about liking it. And you PT haters/bashers are really in the minority; you are just very vocal and loud on the Internet. There’s nothing educated nor rational in your hatred for the PR, period!!!

So keep defending your opinions if you like; you’re just going to continue in looking fooling like all other Gen X’ers (and older) who keep writhing in PT hate!

But whatever you irrational and delusional PT haters/bashers have to tell yourselves to make yourselves feel better and sleep well I night I guess…

And throw that “dated” argument out the window because it is nonsensical considering how movies are made nowadays. It’s not like I can’t tell that the OT is much older; yeah, the OT sure looks like it’s a modern trilogy made a few years ago, the imagery, visuals and effects are so 2015 #sarcasm

[This “dated effect” is about the stupidest argument that PT haters/bashers have ever come up with. It’s really a straw man argument with people just grasping for straws (a pathetic attempt in reaching)].

Your box office statistics are skewed by several factors, such as increased ticket prices, etc. When adjusted for inflation, the OT numbers KILL the PT. It’s like comparing apples to oranges. Show me the statistics for actual number of tickets sold.

            #yesthetruthhurts-yourargument.

And I am still waiting for the statistics that show that OT fans are the “vocal minority.” If anything, it is the PT apologists that are the vocal minority.

And finally, don’t give me this “whoa is us, we are being crapped on by Disney” mentality of PT fans. Especially considering the angst that the OT enthusiasts went through when GL changed the films with the 1997 “specialized” versions and declared that the original OT would never again be available. That was an insult to fans if ever there was one.

Like I told the other guy:

            1) Inflation is arbitrary. There’s no factual arbitration factor when comparing earnings at it is something subjective most of the time.

            2) Look here (at the very far right of the box office performance box under “box office rankings”). That’s where it really matters (I make my case about inflation in Point 1):
            https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars#Box_office_performance

            look at this too: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/star_wars_episode_ii_attack_of_the_clones/news/1645247/critical_consensus_star_wars_prequels_actually_better_reviewed_than_originals/

“And I am still waiting for the statistics that show that OT fans are the “vocal minority.” If anything, it is the PT apologists that are the vocal minority.” It’s a fact that PT haters/bashers are in the vocal minority (not going to call you guys “OT fans” since there are PT fans who are OT fans as well) just by virtue of the fact that it’s people who dislike something who voice their displeasure more so than people who voice their satisfaction about something they like (it’s a principal that is taught in college marketing classes). Want more proof? Look at the links I provided in my previous paragraph (and there are more statistics out there that back up my claims).

Looks like I have the last laugh.

P.S. I can’t really comment on the SE versions of the OT since I was born in 1986. That said though, you still have your memories of when you saw them in theaters, and probably the pre-SE VHS tapes too. It’s not my problem that the theatrical releases of the OT aren’t available for blu-ray (they are for DV in limited editions), nor is it my problem that Disney/LFL declared that all movies in their latest forms are canon (or that they released all 6 movies for digital download only in their latest forms).

          • July 10, 2015 at 5:43 am
            Permalink

P.S. Don’t also forget that that grad total for the OT movies also includes the revenue made from the SE’s released in theaters (those funds added to the overall total revenue); and that was a good amount of money (so it’s almost unfair to compare them in that respect but again, inflation is arbitrary and subjective). The PT hasn’t been re-released like the OT has as SE’s (yet) so it hasn’t had the fortune to accumulate more funds toward its grand box office totals (it’s still too recent of when the PT debuted in theaters and it hasn’t needed an SE treatment like the older OT movies that didn’t have the fortune of being made with high-quality movie making equipment).

I have reviewed your “statistics” and Rotten Tomatoes isn’t exactly a scientifically recognized resource for determining whether a movie is good or bad. They are simply known for making fun of really bad movies and presenting fake awards to them.

Again, can you present the numbers of actual tickets sold? Otherwise, as any statistician can attest, you can massage the other numbers any way you want to support your argument. But none of this has anything to do with whether the movie-going audience actually LIKED the movies. You may be laughing, thinking you get the last one, but really a lot of Star Wars fans just laugh AT you.

I find it hilarious how PT’ers spent years telling OT fanatics that they aren’t true Star Wars fans… now that PT’ers are getting a taste of their own medicine it’s all like “don’t ignore us! don’t ignore us!” pfffffffffft whatever.

“Believe it or not, after the OT, SW interest was dying off as the years went by”

LOL… sure whatever. There were no SW games or novels made in the late 80’s & 90’s until TPM was announced. I never played games called Dark forces or Tie fighter.

BTW what you said isn’t true… Lucas was intending to keep going with more films after ROTJ but the divorce took it’s toll on him. I remember reading the news back in the day that more films were in the works, Lucas had mentioned from time to time there were going to be more.

Non-movie material, although it keeps the hardcores’ interest alive, doesn’t do as significant of a job to get the masses interested (we’re talking mainstream scale here). Only the movies can do that job of elevating interest and generating the revenue at astronomical levels (9-figure (aor more) levels of revenue).

“BTW what you said isn’t true… Lucas was intending to keep going with more films after ROTJ but the divorce took it’s toll on him. I remember reading the news back in the day that more films were in the works, Lucas had mentioned from time to time there were going to be more.”

Intent isn’t the same as actually executing. We all know he had the intent of making more and we all know that his divorce took a toll on him to not want to make more movies. So what if he had the intent? The execution didn’t occur after all (people change their minds for whatever reason). What really matters to the masses is seeing something actually tangible and unfortunately, because there wasn’t anything tangible coming out anymore for the next 16 years (i.e. the movies), interest began to decrease over time with the masses (again we’re talking mainstream, not the hardcores that are really into SW-related books and whatnot, which there’s nothing wrong with getting into the EU/non-movie stuff of course), and we all know that its the masses where it really matters, especially revenue-wise.

So you’re basing your argument on anecdotal evidence vs. a rich history of SW content released prior to SE’s announcement?

Star Wars was still *very* popular in the early 90’s. SNES games, PC games, books, comics, I mean… how much more popular could a 1980’s sci fi have been? What your ungrateful *** doesn’t understand is that had it not been for all the OT fans buying heaps of merchandise, you never would have had a PT to watch.

“Aras is another one of those irrational and delusional PT haters/bashers.”

Uh huh, sure. You state that the OT VHS was reissued again and again yet we still have fans from those times (the Gen X’ers and older) crying for the theatrical versions of the OT to come out because they don’t have them. Yeah, there sure was a high supply of these VHS tapes that everyone aching for one got a copy of them and were satisfied. You state that I have no basis in facts yet here I am exposing your lies. And the SW resurgence beginning 2 years before the PT was released – aside from younger fans getting exposed to the OT now – doesn’t reach make much of a difference in the grand scheme of things in the years between 1983 and 1999. Again, that was a big chunk of time that passed and I don’t think the two years when the SE came out made a big difference compared to an alternative reality where if more SW movies would’ve come out not too long after 1983, boatloads of money would’ve been made (instead of just adding on to the total box office revenue of the OT). And besides, a major reason why those SE’s came out – aside from getting the younger generation to know about the OT – was to get fans prepared for the PT (get the fans hyped up for new SW movies again).

“Your sorry attempt to backtrack by saying no new movie content was coming out is IRREVELANT. you said the Star Wars brand was fading until the PT came out. NOT TRUE. AT. ALL.”

oh I bow down to your superior intellect.

claiming that the only thing that is tangible is a movie shows you have no understanding of the word. the irony is that movies much like music are the exact OPPOSITE of tangible.

you keep asking me to prove that the SEs renewed interest and yet you have no proof for YOUR claims.

If interest in Star Wars had faded then why did the SEs do such unprecedented box-office? These are films that people had been able to watch at home for over a decade and yet they flocked in their millions to see them on a big screen.

ticket prices are now almost SEVEN TIMES more expensive than when Star Wars came out. which means any film doing the exact same box office will now appear to be SEVEN TIMES more successful than Star Wars!

and I love how you casually dismiss the millions of videos sold like that didn’t really happen because you merely don’t want it to have happened as it’s inconvenient to your sorry argument. the reason fans are crying out for the unaltered versions is because no-one wants to watch videotapes anymore!

there is nothing irrational about hating the PT. have you never hated a movie? it does seem that holier-than-thou PT lovers have never hated any movie ever.

I consider the PT to be some of the most dreadful films EVER made. I am entitled to my opinion without being insulted or being told I’m not a “True Star Wars Fan”. I have no interest in being a “True Star Wars Fan” if it means i have to lap up every bit of shit that comes out with a Star Wars logo on it.

I have a collection that reaches into the 1000s and spans 37 years of collecting. how am I not a Star Wars fan?

and obviously there wasn’t the same level of interest once ROTJ had closed. how many films can you name that have constant high-profile attention and fan-mania during the years that no related product is out there? Star Wars interest on this scale did wane in the mid to late eighties. TRUE. because nothing was out there to satiate appetite. no books, no toys, no films…. nothing. however this ceased by the time of the early 1990s. NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PT (which nearly killed Star Wars for a lot of people, myself included).

The only thing my comment meant was exactly what it said, “Does anyone else notice they’re ignoring the prequels?”, that’s how simple it really is, and if you’re not certain about it, then just don’t comment. I don’t need lectures from people like you. It’s very hypocritical of you to say that you need to be able to state what you think (on the internet) after trying to directly insult and attack people for stating what they were THINKING on THE INTERNET through liking my comment.

Now, I’ve made my point, and assuming that you’re just going to be commenting the same hypocritical nonsense for the next thirty centuries if none of us decides to step out of this, I’ll be the one to do so – so don’t even bother writing another comment, I’m done with you and your two-faced ideology – bye.

The prequels had the past decade of non-stop attention. Most of the canon material outside the movies is currently in the Clone Wars TV show. For being the inarguably weakest part of the saga, an unfair amount of attention has been placed on the PT recently. This OT surge is just equaling things out a bit and returning Star Wars to its core aesthetic.

That would be disappointing…I love the little guy, but Jeez…he’s already on every Star Wars product ever sold it feels like. I’m guessing it will be Black Series Kylo Ren or Rey.

One can be a fan of both trilogies. Derp. I feel in love with ANH when I was five, sneaking out of my bedroom to watch it from the hallway. I saw all the OT films hundreds of time before TFM came out, and sure, was never quite as obsessed with the PT but it was still pivotal. AoTC was awful, C3P0s jokes and monotonal Hayden… But it came out a few werks after my father passed away when I was 12 and was a damn good escape for me. Mh mate grew up on a farm with inly 6 movies… He watched AoTC hundreds of times cause it beat the shit out of Independence Day and Jurrasic Park 2 etc. you don’t have to be a hater to have preference… Erryone calm down pls.

Yeah, everyone has their own tastes and can like whatever the hell they want…I think what annoys those who prefer the OT is the folks who insist the PT are great movies or think they are just as good as the originals , when by any objective standards they aren’t even close.

That’s not to say people don’t enjoy them. Look at the Transformers movies.. Box Office is no proof of quality either.

Let’s hope the ST will be the one to unite us all !

Fine I’ll join everyone and give into my anger.
    1) PT was a disaster.
    2) SpoilerMan was right.

At the end of the day: The Hasbro booth was over-run by many collectors in the start of their day because of an exclusive 6 inch black series new stormtrooper!

DIARY: I stood there in FEAR with all that pushing, squeezing and shoving to get that elusive exclusive! I HATE it when all this activity makes me lose my place in line. As soon as the booth opens and when the frenzy starts, before I express my ANGER, I AM TURNED TO THE DARK SIDE! … But in this case about six feet under the crowd of SW collector savages! Yes! Those OT SW collectors once again bashing my PT experiences in that SW line as if it were Black Friday, or perhaps the nightmare FEAR of showing up early to a movie house starting hours of DECEMBER 18TH LATER THIS YEAR! Imagine if the Alien franchise had a sect of hardcore fans claiming that Resurrection, AVP & Prometheus were masterpieces, equal in a quality and stature to Ridley Scott’s Alien and Cameron’s Aliens…or if Terminator fandom was in constant civil war over T1 & T2 vs T3, Salvation & Genisys…or if Star Trek had an army of fans claiming Insurrection & Nemisis were fit to kiss the boots of The Wrath of Khan. It would never happen would it….so why can’t fans of the PT just accept that there movies will never be accepted by the majority of sensible fans. It really isn’t hard to see the obvious gulf in quality between the two trilogies…don’t embarrass yourself by claiming they are one big story, just because the author tells you they are.

To me, Ripley was never cloned & John Conner never married Claire Danes…doesn’t make me less of fan.
