J.J. Abrams Hints at Future Star Wars: The Force Awakens Teasers.

AbramsWe’ve already reported several interviews with Abrams from this years’ Oscar Wilde awards, which the director hosted last week. This one is definitely more interesting and deserve its own report. In an interview with IrishExaminer, Abrams has revealed that there is plenty of teaser material about The Force Awakens that will be released when the “time is right”.

Hit the jump for more details.

From IrishExaminer:

“First of all, I’m always grateful that people would be asking. But the truth is it’s like we haven’t shown anything,” Abrams said.

“There’s sort of an abundance of riches with the stuff we could put out so we’re just trying to make sure it’s as good as it could be before we put anything out. The disaster would be to race something out for the sake of making an impact and it being not as good as people deserve.”

“We don’t want to be coy but we have almost a year until the movie comes out, so we have to be smart about what we say and when. We’re always having conversations about it.”

“I would say thank you for being interested. Thank you for your patience and honestly, I can’t wait for you to see the film,” he said.

So when can we expect to see some new footage from The Force Awakens? I think Star Wars Celebration Anaheim is a pretty safe bet, especially after J.J. Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy were recently announced to attend the event. But which day exactly? Here’s a small hint from Celebration Anaheim’s official Instagram page:

Trust us, you’ll want to be ready for Thursday of #SWCelebration! #StarWars

There’s definitely something happening on the first day at Star Wars Celebration (April 16). Could it be a new teaser trailer? We can only hope. Whatever it is, it appears that this years’ Celebration will be long remembered.

Only 52 days to go. 🙂

I’ll bet it’s another teaser just to get our mouths watering some more. We’ll probably get a full blown trailer during the summer. Can’t wait!

When Marvel fans wet their pants and scream for more goodies, Disney goes “Oh, OK! Here you go! Free handouts!” But when Star Wars fans beg for tidbits, Disney goes “shut up and wait till December.”

      Same old, same old.

We will see new footage from The Force Awakens WHEN IT IS RELEASED. However, I think there will be a final teaser a few months before the release. Perfect time in my opinion.

I’m almost positive we’ll see the first full-length trailer during SW Celebration and then attached to Avengers: Age of Ultron after that. It just fits in to place so well.

Hopefully, this will go into the story more and show us what its all about. And possibly we’ll see the original three too, which would be wonderful.

When JJ tells us to “wait,” my response is the same as that last interview when Mark hammill told us to “wait”:

      SHUT. THE. HELL. UP.

Star Wars is more than just a movie. We all know that.

you shut the hell up, like a screaming banshee child. star wars is a film and nothing else. stop creaming your knickers over nothing. ITS A FILM, two hours tops of your life, if you watch it again then thats your mission in life, to most people its a film we just want to see.

What i like is that the first teaser looked simple. Just close ups from one character ( exept the troopers but that was also a shot in a confined space) it makes you feel that the movie is intimite and small. I cannot imagine the scope of the movie right now. I remember that the teasers from the prequels where grand and impressive, shots from coruscant, hordes of gungans and space battles. So if the next starwar7 trailer suddenly has that same grandness i will be totally blown away! Maybe then we see tattooine populated or a rebelbase full of soldiers running, maybe a big city on a planet we dont know, or a hutt council..and then starwars7 will have a totally different feel then it has shown up till now…i really look forward to that. I also do not understand all the ranting by the way, if you are a starwarsfan, why not utterly enjoy this ride!

I liked the intimate nature. Keeps you more involved in the moment to moment action. Always pulling back for the sake of the FX shots often pulls you out of it. I think the occasional full blown shot of the scale of the events is great versus beating you over the head with it. Gotta find that balance.

In short… I don’t want to lose that grounded feel!

You just described exacty why I hated Lord of the Rings, the Hobbit, Harry Potter, and many other film franchises reliant on CGI.

I would love to see an article speculating why Kylo Ren is walking towards Rey in the desert planet, who The Seven are, how a lightsaber can “choose” someone like Harry Potter’s elder wand, and where in the hell Luke Skywalker was when Kylo Ren butchered his padawans in the Academy.

(Assuming all these rumors are, in fact, factual. They’re from makingstarwars, which has a pretty good track record.)
