Rumor: BioWare’s Untitled Star Wars Game to be Launched Next Year and to Feature Chewbacca?

Chewbacca

JunkieMonkeys found a very interesting ad searching for voice talent to mimic Chewbacca in the upcoming Star Wars game by BioWare. The ad also states that the game will be launched next year…

When last year Lucasfilm and Disney announced a multi-year, multi-title exclusive licensing agreement with Electronic Arts, it was revealed that EA studio teams DICE (Battlefield series) and Visceral (Dead Space series) will join BioWare (Mass Effect series, Star Wars: The Old Republic) in the development of new Star Wars games. And while there was a significant talk about the new upcoming DICE game Battlefront, we haven’t heard much about Visceral’s and BioWare’s projects.

Now a recent job posting has revealed that BioWare’s game is expected to be released next year and is expected to involve Chewbacca in some capacity.

As it was revealed before, these upcoming games will be considered Canon and the involvement of Chewbacca is not surprising at all.

What is strange is that the game is said to be launched in 2015. This is practically impossible especially considering there are no actual details revealed for this project so far.

As you know Battlefront is also set to be released in 2015 and it’s in a much much advanced stage of development – there’s already been a teaser and some game footage revealed.

So most likely the released date of the BioWare’s game will change, that is of course if that job announcement is legit in the first place.

Please be a Star Wars VII game, I don’t care if it stinks, just give us a Star Wars VII game please.

I’ll voice Luke Skywalker for free.

They said they aren’t making games that directly tie into the movies – at least not until after the movies have been made. If they were to be restricted by the deadline of a release date and limited access to story details, that would be detrimental to the final product – and most movie tie-in games suffer for that exact reason.

If they ever make movie-based games, I hope they come out a number of years after the films are out on Blu-Ray/DVD, aren’t rushed but are of excellent quality and even include footage from the movies! 😀

Looks fake as they can just use the tapes LUCASFILM already have with Wookiee sounds from other games and the movies TV series etc.

Other games, like, for example, KotOR or SWTOR, both made by BioWare.

      This is fake.

Yup, this is fake. First, they would not EVER use a human voice for this material. Second, even if they did use a human, they would hire a union actor, not sourced from craigslist.
        Sorry gang.

They have most likely been working on this for a longer period of time and are just now talking about it.

Why would they need a Chewbacca impression. I mean there sounds from 3 Movies to pick from. Maybe even sounds from Ep VII. Sound not legit to me.

An ad on Craigslist from someone supposedly “working with” Bioware. Seems legit. :/

  • November 9, 2014 at 10:56 pm

Firstly, it’s an ad on Craigslist. Highly doubt Bioware (or the agencies they use) would advertise on Craigslist.

Secondly. just because it says “Chewbacca voice”, doesn’t mean Chewbacca will be in the game. Perhaps more people will recognise the name “Chewbacca” over “Wookiee” and so they’re getting a bigger sampling of people to apply.

If anything, I hope BioWare makes something akin to KOTOR. Possible KOTOR 3 but that would be weird with the canon vs legends problem

What if it’s for Star Wars: Episode VII? Maybe they want a whole bunch of takes on Chewbacca’s growls in the sequel trilogy?

This would be a pretty inconspicuous way of hiring people..

ToR is actually a very booring MMO. Once you finish the story of your class it’s just WoW on space. Very disapointing. They had the one of the best IP for an MMO + EA’s money, and now it’s just another F2P MMO with a cash shop 🙁

you know. SWG post CU but pre-NGE was the best, in my opinion. Pre-CU is so dated. Post-CU could have still worked in 2014. NGE ruined the game though.

My question is how many people responded to this ad? I would be so ashamed and not talk about it if I actually sent some strange craigslist prankster my chewbacca impression thinking I might get paid. Not something you want on your resumee.
