The bits i like, i like because they are like starwars, which was good. Aliens, ships, design… These are better than “droids” tv series when I was a kid, so thats something…but it feels like a recreation of the falcon + crew…only all a bit less special feeling. Lets hope ep7 is really good. It cant be that hard to get some human chemistry and some effects and design aesthetic that match the OT style… and a story… oh… please be good.

The Indy themed music was a nice touch, but the Stormtroopers are far too useless and stupid. I hope they’re a little less so in the episodes.

I agree. I wish stormtroopers were more of a threat rather than a bunch of retards.
They didn’t seem so stupid in ANH and TESB. It wasn’t until ROTJ where they were really portrayed as complete idiots.

This show looks like crap. Let’s face it, Star Wars is ruined.

Ruined? Has something new ever not ruined Star Wars for somebody? From Dark Empire to the Prequels we have heard the same whining about Star Wars being ruined. We all see the franchise differently and like certain aspects of the property. If this isn’t your thing, no biggie. The Vong and Prequels weren’t mine but I still love the OT and parts of the EU regardless.

Ruined? The parts of SW I like will be there regardless of Jar-Jar, Robot Maul, Vong, or laser slingshots.

No. It doesn’t matter what you call it, it will always be a Star Wars news site. If they see Rebels, they post about Rebels. If they see EpVII they post about EpVII, if they see Rebels, they post about Rebels. And we see much of rebels this time

Exactly. With that point of view, I guess we should completely ignore any possible E8, E9, or spinoff news due to the title of this site, right?

I am holding out hope… for the new movies..

droids and christmas special were crap, but the main 3 films were good, and the directors were not strong names like jj. One thing i respect about lucas is he puts himself on the line and tries new things in public view. 50% of the time it fails (howard the duck), 50% of the time it works a new hope, empire, jedi and I guess 50% of the time it is to make money (caravan of courage). Lets just hope Kathleen Kennedy is on top form and makes the ST amazing. So far good director choices, good signs from prop leaks and good casting… could this be what OT fans have dreamed of since summer of 83? braced for bitter disappointment, while very slightly hoping for the best…

Again, I can’t get why Kiner is using Indiana Jones cues for this. I love how faithful to OT he is in terms of music, but mixing Indiana Jones beyond a smart tribute feels really weird to me.

I’m still to see this new short, since I can’t watch videos with the internet connection in my job, but as far as I’m concerned these short videos (“The Machine in the Ghost”, “Art Attack”, and this new one) are only promotional shorts for the show, not the show itself, and I’m willing to be more forgiving with them than with the actual episodes of the show. So if they are somewhat goofier, or have pop culture references such as Indy’s theme, or they have a slightly worse animation, I’m OK with that. I sincerely hope there’s not much of that on the show itself, but I fear I will be disappointed…

Star Wars shouldn’t have pop culture references if it’s cannon as opposed to spoof.

It’s not the Family Guy, nor should it be.

This stinks of more crappy executive decision making.

Welll, I’ve finallly seen this short and there’s no Indy Theme on it at all. Yes, the music is very similar indeed to the basket chase on Raiders, but that’s it. A wink to fans. And as I said, I will be more forgiving with these shorts than with the show itself, so it works for me.

Why do I mainly see negative opinions about Star Wars Rebels I’m 20 and I Like what I see so far, So what if the Storm Troopers are Bad Shots, In the OT they never were Robin Hood. I think that Star Wars Rebels will only appeal to kids and adults who don’t care if it’s stupid

To be honest, I don’t really understand too much of the hate I keep seeing about this show, especially since we haven’t actually seen an episode yet. Quit being so pessimistic guys, they’re not going to ruin Star Wars. It’s already been ruined since 1999. Let them tinker around with different formats.
That being said, I am a little confused now about the effectiveness of stormtrooper armor. In the OT they couldn’t withstand blaster fire, ok. But then here we see the armor protect them from instant death next to a massive explosion. But at the same time, the helmets offer so little protection that they can be knocked out simply by Zeb slamming their heads together? That don’t make no sense. Are the helmets just to make them look like identity-less drones? Then wouldn’t it be better then to wear masks that breathe a little better, that aren’t so heavy? I mean… they should try to keep things at least a bit consistent. Meh. I’m over-analyzing a cartoon.

It’s not necessary to see an entire episode.

They’ve released enough material in the way of trailers, clips, character profiles, and entire sequences, for folks to make educated criticisms.

Weren’t people just as cynical when TCW first showed? These days people are comparing everything possible to it.

Maybe they were, maybe the weren’t. I don’t know.

But no matter what the early comments on TCW may have been, they don’t erase the inherent stupidity of the Sabine character, pop culture references worthy of any Family Guy or Simpson’s episode, and Stormtroopers getting easily knocked out while wearing helmets.

I was excited, yes, the ships, the landscapes, probably the story…but the more i see the more i found a newbie show.
It seems anyone can make this kind of animation.
    I don’t think SW is …….

“An entire legion of my best troops awaits them!”

*Then are utterly humiliated by furry little bears*

Eh, the stormtroopers from the (entire) OT weren’t that impressive either. Why should we expect otherwise from Rebels.

It wasn’t as glaringly obvious until then. At least in ANH you first saw the stormtroopers being competent shots against the rebel troops. But it was clear by Jedi, Lucas was tired and wanted to put Star Wars behind him. The destruction of the Executer, Boba Fett and others.

The show will get better as time goes on. Most season 1’s for a show are just the see how well it I received anyway…. Keep calm Star Wars fans. Even if the show does “suck”, we still have plenty of new movies coming out that should be “better” in a sense.

Why didn’t the TIE pilot just shoot Zeb in the back? Maybe with his weapon set to stun?

Anyway, wisecracking while trying to escape from stormtroopers, as we saw in ANH, is one thing. Wisecracking _about_ stormtrooper ineptitude, while easily beating stormtroopers, is quite something else—it completely removes any tension there might be. Plus, it’s just not funny.

Neo would be stunned at the rate the main characters are dodging blaster bolts.

Even if shot in the back, the Disney effect would kick in.

“Real fans” is a hugely pretentious statement, regardless of what context it’s being used in. Liking or disliking an aspect of a franchise does not make you any more or less of a fan.

I’m counting down the days until Episode VII comes out and we can change the site’s name to “AllThingsStarWars.com”.

Huh.. Well I’m 42.. I much prefer the OT to the prequels, but I enjoy any Star Wars I can get and so far from what I’ve seen.. I am really looking forward to watching this show. And my teenage sons are really looking forward to watching this show. Looks fantastic to me.. and I really don’t understand all the negative that people are throwing on it. It’s a different style, different tone from what we’ve seen, but I foresee me and my sons tuning in each week to get lost in the Star Wars universe and just have a good time. What’s so funny to me is seeing all these same comments about Clone Wars when it came out and now people still can’t get over its cancelation. I guess its just the fun/in-thing to hate on Star Wars. I like what I’m seeing from Zeb! Keep up the great work, cast and crew and ignore these guys!
