Disney Relaunches Official Star Wars Website

StarWars.Com - 2014 Disney Relaunch

Pomojema here, with the inexplicable urge to write news articles for this blog at two in the morning!

But enough about that ‒ Disney just updated the official website for all things Star Wars yesterday. The big change is that they’re integrating Disney.com accounts and accounts on official Star Wars websites; on the off chance that you have both, you have to choose one or the other to be your primary account, and you other account will be dissolved into the new one and form a Disney ID. This integrated account can then work on any website officially under Disney’s wing. If you just have only one account to begin with, or you have yet to make an account at all, well, guess what? You don’t need to worry about this at all. Move along, move along.

Aside from account shenanigans, the changes seem to be largely cosmetic – the layout seems to have been modernized a bit in order to not only show news updates, but to promote any and every medium that Star Wars has touched (namely, the films, shows, and video games). Staples of the site like the Databank are still there, of course, and the site is also apparently more supportive of fan content. In general, it seems like a decent update ‒ nothing has been cut, and quite a few things have been added. Thank the maker!

I think it would be more interesting to inform about Kevin Smiths breakout in teard on the sw7 set. He is one true fan and him getting some nostalgic tears must be a good sign

I mainly did this short piece because I didn’t want to report on unconfirmed rumors – given that a lot of BS has been floating around, I’m leaving that kind of thing to ViralHide and company for a while.

Speaking of rumors, I did hear of a leak from 4Chan that may or may not be legitimate – it happened a few months ago, but it seems to have predicted a couple of things correctly if more recent rumors are of any indication.

I just hope Kevin Smiths tearz was a real emotional moment and not another made up BS like some do to promote movies that turned out to suck bad. But he’s been honest alot in the past, so let’s hope this part 7 is as good as his emotions were…

Well… I don’t fully trust his opinion either. He rather liked Revenge of the Sith. As I know many do. No need to dive into another debate. For me personally I rather detested that movie.

That said… I think I might have gotten emotional on the set of Star Wars as well. It’s not like they told him the story… they just showed him the awesome props.

Touching the new Falcon!? Being surrounded by awesome Star Wars sets? Heck yeah I’d be pretty stoked too. It’s just not something I’d bet the farm on in regards to whether or not the new movie is going to be awesome 😛

I’d trust Kevin Smith’s opinion over any other critic in the film industry. The guy’s got an incredibly broad knowledge of pretty much every good film franchise there is, and he’s a huge fan himself.

Yes, and if he liked Revenge of the Sith, that REALLY says great things about him! What an excellent film it is!

He has a thing called an opinion. You have one as well. Both can differ without one or the other being “wrong”. Liking the Prequels is not a sin. Neither is disliking them. Claiming that someone is terrible for liking a film, however, *is* wrong, because you’re enforcing your opinion in a pious way that makes you look like an arrogant jerk.

With all due respect, I don’t see how either articles are confusing.

As for the updated web site. It would of been nice for them to leave the whole database. Not just the movies and clone wars cartoon.

Star Wars Legends is still part of the Star Wars franchise.

Alot of the fans still hold true to that time line. All they have to do is add the fact that any one of those articles come from the legends era of media.

They have no problem with slaping Legends on the books and selling them as such. I own alot of the books before the Legends anouncement, and I still read them. When the book wears out I have no problem with buying one with the Legends label on it, but lets face it sometimes a replacement book can be hard to find so filling in the gaps from the data base would be great! so anyone that has to miss a book can continue with the story with out much being missed.

I don’t like the new way they present the video clips, they always cut off before the video is actually done so you miss the last few seconds of whats being shown and said. I thought maybe it was because of the auto play feature but even after shutting that option off the entire video still doesn’t play to the end. Come on Disney let’s get it together here I have high hopes for you, don’t start off like this already.
